It says gender based... Is it only for women?

I (40/M) had an abusive mother. This article really resonated with me. Really gets my back up when people defend abusers.... Because they're female. My life lessons: we all have the capacity for good, bad & very bad. Be the best you can be as often a you can & help others do the same... Until they push you over the edge then cut contact & invest in those that love you instead.

As a victim of female abuse, I agree.

In person... Much more confident & impressive. Hey I saw you on that dating site, if I'd have known you were single I'd have asked you out months ago! Lkeys go for a drink & trade dating horror stories. (Note, that was not a question) Good luck!!

Not my feelings personality... Just my faith that humanity can be respectful & evolve forwards, has had a dose of reality that's all. Probably needed a healthy reminder... So again I thank you.

No worries then. We all have our own paths to lead, just as OP does. Living in an 'I'm always right' bubble is a choice I'll happily as support your right to have. OP chose not to be honest, I offer a solution, you say it's stupid. That's not helpful or constructive... But again, you've every right to be obtuse, disrespectful & close minded. I appreciate your feedback though... I know what you want & how to live... I know that OP doesn't want to lie in this instance. You could say that I've seen…

I've replied to another constructive person elsewhere, that I presumed you were not OK with simply being honest with the girl that you didn't want to get wasted... If that is the case, then just saying you fancy a few beers only as you don't want to get wasted seems OK. Sparked by the other comment, I must ask... Why not just be honest? If she's too aggressive, (disrespectful?) Perhaps she's not a good choice to make? 7 billion (or is it 8?) People out there, don't be pushed around.. Stand tall …

Thanks for the constructive feedback ;p Tbh. I'm with you. I never lie & have no problem standing up to bullies. OP however seemed to want an alternative way to let down an aggressive girl gently... I offered him one, presuming that he was unwilling or unable to simply be honest. What I have learnt is that your way is right & everyone else is stupid. While that's fine for you to live your life that way, I invite you to think outside yourself & try to see life through others eyes for a minute or …

As a man who is huge & often mistaken as someone who can take abuse from anyone, I thank you. I had violent childhood. Mother was physically abusive & manipulative. I know first hand that women can be violent. I will never hit a human being.... & get sad when people say you shouldn't hit women. people shouldn't hit people. I've often been criticised for complaining that women hit me in fun or out of frustration etc. Doesn't happen often, but it is indeed an emotional blow each & every time... Th…

Don't the French refuse father's the right to DNA tests when they are having a baby with a woman? Maybe I'm wrong, but if so... Seems a double standard?

Yeah, sweeping statement. Sorry. My dad took me away & it was easy to prove my mother was unsafe. I forget that others are not so lucky.

If you have kids, take them & leave. Of you dont have kids, leave. I grew up with a violent mother. Since I left I don't tolerate violence in my life. It takes a real man to stand up & day stop.. Or help. You are not alone, leave her & don't look back. Good luck. Of you were in London, I'd come over & help you pack.

I lived a similar life to you, minus the fire & plus physical abuse. I too will never talk to my mother again. I've too many people in my life that live me & have earned my respect & love back. They get priority..

While your intent was to reassure the OP that looks are indeed not as important as men think they are ( to women ), I do feel that perhaps the sentiment could've been worded better. I say this as a 36 year old who have had more than my fair share of women (see how I did that) & was equally as outspoken as you are... I've learnt the value of subtlety & showing (but sometimes faking) class. I'm only saying this as I was saddened by your downvotes as I think your heart was in the right place & peop…
