It's a damn shame she did not expand on (or at least cite) her claim that prison is a system designed for men. After a very brief search, I found two compelling arguments as to the disparities faced and the inequality caused by the small amount of women in prison. 0	Makes my blood boil. This is what feminism looks like. Very true. But the author of this piece is not an expert in mens issues nor male prison issues, therefore she did not speak to them. This is not something uncommon in academia. I would not expect a psych professor who focuses on domestic violence among same-sex partners to be able to speak nearly as much about domestic violence in a family setting and its effect on children. My suspicion is that the author primarily conducts and reads research in the area specifically surrounding women and women in prisons. It probably leaves her feeling uncomfortable to make sweeping conclusions about all nonviolent offenders, regardless of gender. My wife works in healthcare as an OT and obviously most nurses are female and they deal with all of the shit you just described.
