Virtue signaling on askmrp, lol. His joke doesn’t make him wrong though. Now I am not a smart man, but if a wife threatens divorce and if there’s any answer other than “there’s the fuckin door”, I believe you’re missing the point of this place and no words are gonna help this dude.

Ahh yeah, you’re right and every other poster here is wrong. Carry on. While you’re at it, can you write up a nice post for MRP that will serve as the new guide for struggling men? Clearly you’ve got it nailed down.

I never said shit about lifting. The sidebar has fuck all to do with lifting - that is just a de facto thing every single man on planet earth should do. Lifting isn’t “hard work”, you just move the fucking weights, a goddamn monkey could do it.

It’s hard work to kill that ego, every one of us here struggled with it at some point. I certainly still do at times.

So, demanding respect. Hit that sidebar or keep getting that fragile little ego shattered. Ask me how I know.

Do you think she sees you as the prize? Her best option? If she did, do you think she would have approached you with this? Do you think your ultimatum / boundary will mean shit? Would you even trust her if she agreed?

I’m young (22) and not married, and my relationship has only been going for 3 months. I haven’t read the books on the sidebar in the main sub Sorry if this is low effort but I’d love some advice. Fucks sake, you boys posting in here after dating a woman for a week is something else. Stop writing this drivel and read a fucking book. Everything you wrote here points at the real problem - you. You ain't gonna find the answer to that in fucking r/askMRP.

You're a fucking mess. I bet your wife is a mess because of you. You really think divorcing her is the golden ticket here? For her maybe, because she'd be free from the shackles of your bullshit. Every dude replying here telling you the same thing and you're doing mental gymnastics to ignore it. I suppose you'll reap what you sow, in the end.

There will (should, anyway) come a point where you won't give a shit about what she sees or doesn't see. Try to realize that you're reasoning for putting it off amounts to fear and that very fear is what can be addressed by taking the time to consume the sidebar. Do it however is convenient for you. If you can't just order the books on Amazon or whatever, then make another account and have them shipped to your work. Find them online and download them. Put them on your phone. Have them printed at…

You've completely handicapped yourself here by wrapping up your identity in your religion, imo. Needless to say, you're going to need to do some soul searching to figure yourself out. If you're Catholic and that prevents you from ever leaving your wife, you need to realize that you're trying to run this race right after you had someone voluntarily run over both your legs. It ain't gonna work, my man. If this is a legitimate post (and I can't even be sure anymore with half the dog shit that ends …

If you're the one that fucked up your marriage and your kids, don't you think that simply freeing yourself of these things (by running away) will cause you to end up back in the same spot down the road? Not a whole lot of addressing the root cause issues here and more you seemingly taking your toys and playing by yourself because you're pissed off.

“If I only had pussy, everything would be great” says every fucking man when they step foot in here. I think the ones who progress forward all realize that was a load of shit. You’re still not getting it.

Once again, that line alone speaks volumes and is pretty antithetical to every basic principle here. Every goddamn thing you "want" has to do with a woman - marriage, sex, a lifelong partner, a hot girl who's cool to be around, etc. Another poster commented this but I'll say it again - most men here figure out real quick that when sex improves, it doesn't actually mean shit and doesn't fulfill you the way that you think it will. If both of these women died tomorrow, what would you do? What would…

I think neither one of these women is actually what you want. I think you don't know what you want and you're just bullshitting yourself. Dig into the sidebar like everyone else. No one here can give you the answer you're looking for and the fact that you think they can speaks volumes about where you are.

Am I overreacting to her seeing the books? Yes. Why does your wife get to judge whether what you read is right or wrong? What are you afraid of? Why is it "hard not to discuss" when you could just STFU / AA / Fog / otherwise have fun with dumb fucking questions about what you're reading and why you're reading it? You're getting shit here because the lessons you need to learn in order to overcome this are literally in the first two sidebar books that you're not allowed to read, apparently.

Don't get butthurt about it. Kettlebells have their place and I'd argue until I'm blue in the face that they're one of the greatest strength training tools available. That said, Horns is right. Barbell lifting will teach you a lot more about yourself and it allows for incremental progress / progressive overload that kettlebells simply do not. Once you reach heavy weights on the big 3 lifts and every fucking session is a grind because the weight is heavy, you learn a lot about perseverance that K…

This is exactly where my head has been in relation to this post for the last two days. It's an area I also fail at, though I realize why it's true. Only this morning did I really sit down and realize that a lot of my current struggle is in relation to this same power dynamic, specifically the push pull and who needs who the most. In regard to life in general, I am confident my wife needs me the most. Were we to divorce, she would get the short end of that stick in regard to who brings the most v…

What can I do to make the situation better and fix it to the way that I can build up on my momentum and better myself and get back my attraction? Do what every other man who ends up here needs to do. Never ceases to amaze me, the crazy shit I read on here. This stuff isn’t really that hard, but here we have some long ass post about….Iron Man? lmao I think you’re fundamentally misunderstanding stoicism, also. If you read the sidebar you’d find the true core of stoicism runs very deep in a lot of the MRP sidebar content. If you're horny, you tease, be suggestive, use 'kino' contact, innuendo, etc. If wife never likes that, then tough luck, you're a sexual guy, that's just you doing you. You'll not be worried about upsetting the wife. This couldn't be more true and I will relay personal experience here. In the past, when I was trapped in RP unaware hell, obviously I felt entitled to sex because my wife was my wife. Same old story as every man here, essentially. You are wrapped up in validation seeking. You should focus on that and stop worrying about categorizing tests from your wife and how to respond to them. Fix yourself via the sidebar and this shit from your wife is just laughable - as someone said, you should be able to swat these away because they simply don't matter. It's a process to get there and I suppose that's why we are all here. Hit the sidebar, specifically NMMNG and WISNIFG. Stop the validation seeking behavior. STFU.
/r/askMRP01/02/23 05:28 PM

I'm constantly overthinking and seeking approval. My confidence is just fine. You've obviously got it all figured out and don't need us plebes chiming in.
/r/askMRP01/02/23 11:40 AM
16

It's not, it's the discrepancy between my confidence and how I am perceived in this context that bothers me. Covert contract. I loved being respected and by and being attractive to my GF. I don't believe anyone who is not phased by the reactions of other people. That's the main end goal of TRP: change the way others react to you. Fundamental misunderstanding and covert contract. You literally are sitting here telling us how your self worth is tied directly to how others react to the things you d…

Spent 15 years studying TRP and haven't even picked up lessons from literally the first book on the MRP sidebar. You turn it around by doing the work. You have zero confidence and your post is full of you going on about how every ounce of your self worth is defined by how others treat and perceive you. It's almost as if women are hardwired to find that shit repulsive. Give less fucks. That's not the flip of a switch. Do the goddamn work. Shit posts like this are not doing the work.

Why are you wrapped up in that conversation after an hour? My first reaction to your question was literally "lol". As in I laughed at your question and would laugh at my wife if she said that shit to me, because internally I know she sure as shit doesn't have a better plan and if she doesn't want my advice, then so be it. Just laugh, hug her, say some smartass shit and move on. It's a child's tantrum, it literally is just her emoting, why the fuck are you getting wrapped up in it? Though it is s…

Call me crazy, but I would say a man coming to askMRP and writing this drivel is not the type of man who is going to have a variety of women begging to jump on his dick. You seem to have already defined what it is that you want (though I suspect this is all bullshit), so why not just do it? What are you scared of?

So I'm giving comfort, trying to calm her and also suggesting some solutions, and she keeps relying with "no, you're just making it worse", or not answering things I say, even telling me to be quiet. It makes me really not wanna be there and help and I feel bad and unappreciated but I tell myself it's now time to step up, fog, help her, and deal with it later. This is some Nice Guy behavior that I have had to break myself of over time. Your woman doesn't want you to try and fix all her problems,…

Read (again if you have) NMMNG and WISNIFG. I suspect what you’re going to find (if you manage to improve at all) is that sex doesn’t really fucking matter. This hole you feel, this validation you seek, it’s only momentarily filled when you fuck. A funny thing happens when you actually start to fuck. You realize that it was never truly about that at all, because that same fucking hole still exists. That’s the entire point of all of this. I get that MRP was born primarily from sexual strategy, bu…

Everyone in this thread has pointed it out, but your thinking is still fucked up. Obviously I’m not, it drives me crazy every day. I try to hide it, she’s been accusing me of being butt hurt I feel like I’m just wasting my time and effort and getting angry again. While MRP is primarily ‘sexual strategy’ oriented, at least in regard to how men end up here, that’s really just a byproduct of unfucking yourself and learning to be a man who follows his own path, undeterred by others. To try and distill it down, I would say this. Learning that everything you want is within your grasp. Every problem you face is created or perpetuated by yourself. We alone have the ability to get what we want in life. Becoming aware of that, escaping the victim mindset and truly…

You want her to like those things. You want her to feel a way so you can feel a way. You want to change her feelings so you can enjoy it. Your answer to “why” should be “Because that’s what I want”. If she complies, why are you overthinking it? You’re not physically forcing her and who gives a shit about her mood. Are you wanting to see her in lingerie because her happy mood makes your dick hard, or because you think she’s hot in it? If the latter, why does her mood about it matter? You’re tying…

There is no "RP mission", only your mission as a man. MRP has fuck all to do with you being a man and living an authentic life. Your wife has fuck all to do with that, also. This mission you have now of "if I do all this shit my wife is going to choke on my dick unprompted, go broke buying lingerie for me and otherwise serve the badass man that I am because I deserve it, goddamnit" is bullshit.

As someone else pointed out, you need to re-read NMMNG. You "read it a few years ago" and "might read it again" because you "know the theory". That's all bullshit. I know because you're post is covert contracts all the way down. Your head is still squarely in the space where you're blatantly doing shit, expecting some reaction from your wife, getting pissed that she's not responding like you think she should. Also have been thinking a lot about validation and having a hard time determining if I am only or mostly initiating for that. If you're finding yourself hurt / annoyed after being rejected, then I've found that it most often stinks of validation seeking, at least for myself. Also, way more of your OYS is about sex and your wife than about you. Focus on YOUR shit. Let your wife worry about her chronic pain. You start off with.... Mission (WIP): Get more sex, becomes less obsessed about getting more sex. I think "get more sex" should just be off the table for you. I realize it's why every single one of us ends up here and is ultimately what we hope for, but the fact that your self-defined mission number 1 is to get more sex, it says a lot about you're still approaching all of this and where your head is. I still struggle with this myself.

This is super vague. Sounds like a lot of "I need to figure out what I want in life". My question to you is, why? Why do these things matter to you? To what end goal do they contribute? I'd also caution against the whole "figuring out how to take your current relationship to the next level". Just do your shit - figure out what you want, the rest will probably fall into place. I didn't go read all your previous OYS and I'm sure this info is in there somewhere, but I am lazy. I read your post and I feel like you really have no idea what you want. Do you? Is it really just sex? Do you actually like your wife? You sound like an aimless little boy, to be honest. None of this is about the sex or your wife - your physical fitness or lifts are pretty irrelevant here, case in point the woman you want doesn't give a fuck and you're not satisfied with the pussy you can get without issue. lmao, this cracked me up, so thank you for that. Sidebar and lift. Edit: Sent this to a friend today. It’s relevant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgWHrkDX35o

Appreciate the input here. I agree on counts 1 and 2. I have noticed those things, when I put effort into them, it boosts confidence which in turn reinforces that rejection from my wife truly is no big deal and that I will be happy regardless, because my life is awesome. Improving my social life / activities, as well as starting to approach other women for fun, are my ways forward here. Got a copy of that PDF and added to my reading list.

I did some of the sidebar already, but yeah, need to keep up/refresh. Never finished WISNIFG, for example. You JUST posted above in reply to me that you "read most of the sidebar" and now I think you're full of shit. Hard to stress how important that material is in getting our head out of our own ass and making this about us, not women or sex. But here you are taking shortcuts and DEER'ing that you "read most of the sidebar" when I ask about it.

Getting into some good habits when I have my routine working. When I don’t, I’ll my discipline goes to shit. It's a cumulative effect, I find. Discipline in one area lends itself to discipline in others. Slips in one area means I'm more likely to slip in others. Good you notice this - it's the first step in fixing it. Anytime you find yourself thinking "I don't wanna do this", it's a good sign that you should do it.

There isn't a "best workout". Your problem (and my problem and most people's problem) is a lack of discipline. Calculate your TDEE, figure out how much you're trying to cut per week, figure out your macros, track your calories, be consistent with this and doing nothing else will get you losing weight. To gain strength? Pick a beginner program. 5x5, 5/3/1, etc. Again, consistency is key.

Why aren't you reading the sidebar? Also, get your nutrition in check and start lifting, who gives a shit about how many steps you get per day.

OYS 4 39, 5’11”, 196lbs. No kids. Health and Lifts Trained 5/7 days last week. Rucked 5/5 - 10 miles total. An increase of 3.5 miles a week. Made sandbags over the weekend, carrying 30lbs for all rucks this week. Hit the lowest number on the scale (195.8) that I’ve seen in a year. Pants are loose, belt barely fits. So, making progress marching forward. Deadlifts. Moved up to 135lbs last week. 6x6 AMRAP on the last. Still increasing the last set. Will stick here for a couple weeks and then bump u…

You ain’t wrong, I’m a goddamn dumbass for reading 3/4 of that wall of text. Your answer is the top comment on the post, but your big ass ego keeps you from seeing it.

If I do someone a favor and they don’t appreciate/complain, then I will not do the same favor next time If my wife embarrasses me in public/in front of colleagues in an event I will not invite her the next time These read like covert contracts. If I do someone a favor and they don't appreciate it, then I'll be butthurt about it and they'll learn their lesson. If my wife embarrasses me in public, I'll be butthurt about it and show her the next time. I see your point and I understand it, but why "…

It’s really surprised me how difficult I find doing things just because I want to do them. Yeah, this is a real struggle, apparently there are some books about it that we'd all do well to read. Also, your calories seem super low. 1700 and you're 250lbs? Use a calculator to get your macros and start tracking your shit religiously. There's no reason you shouldn't be seeing weight fall off if you're at that kind of deficit and still lifting.

As others have mentioned, where are your lifts? Also, are you tracking calories? If not, figure out your macros and start tracking. Eat based on that, not "food on your plate" or "a lot less carbs". Dialing in your fitness and nutrition is going to go a long way towards making you feel better. Get a goddamn routine and stick with it. Discipline is the key.

In the past I’ve been made to feel guilty and had big arguments regarding me ‘being selfish’ by going away with friends and subsequently not helping with our child. I still get an anxious response when I’m invited somewhere with friends, the conflict of knowing that this shouldn’t be an issue, but mentioning it is going to likely cause an argument. I’ve put this to the back of my mind as best as I can recently though, and have just said ‘I’m going here on XYZ’. Surprisingly, no complaints. But I…

Others say this and I’ll say it, twelve months ago I had chronic back pain, and a mental block from trying to fix it for 7 years. Just because I didn’t fix it, doesn’t mean I couldn’t fix it. Good insight here that's applicable to all of life, I think. It resonates with me because I struggle in similar ways - including back pain that I've often resigned myself to, versus figuring it out. Making forward progress "figuring it out" feels a lot better than the stagnation.

OYS 3 39, 5’11”, 198lbs. No kids. Married 12 years, together 17. BF (navy method) - 18%. Health and Lifts Trained 6/7 days last week. Started adding weight and distance to my morning hikes. Shooting for 2 miles each day this week with a 30lb pack. Deadlifts. Bumped up to 115lbs last week - 3 sessions. Still focusing on form and glute activation. Noticing my hip and back feel great the days after focused, solid lifts. Bumping up to 135lbs this week and will stick with that for a few weeks. Kettle…

I keep lots of situation specific (MRP) notes digitally. I journal every morning in a notebook. Started with stoic reflection as I read books and stuff, but it’s evolved a few times. Now I just sort of stream of consciousness write. If there’s stuff there, I get it down. If not, I move on to reading. The paper journal is a useful tool for self reflection, in my opinion.

I wonder if this will allowed to stay. You say you’ve read all this stuff and made progress, but are asking really dumb questions and tossing out a bunch of MRP buzzwords. If this sticks around and draws comments from more experienced members, I hope you really take time to understand why you get the shit you have coming your way.

I have been battling the SI issue for about 3 years. Seen specialists, read books, etc. I have managed it by essentially not barbell squatting and deadlifting, but this is not the real answer and it’s partially excuse making on my part. But I’ve also been reading a bunch of stuff by Dan John and taking hints from his approach that longevity is key - train to live and train so you can train tomorrow. Getting hurt again and parking my ass for weeks to recover is not worth the risk anymore. But als…

Yep, at this point I am just trying to nail the pattern. I'm always good eating the same shit every day, I just haven't ever ate this much protein before and so it's changing up how I usually eat. Appreciate the info though, you're spot on and I know it's something I've got to keep dialing in.

If I were in your shoes, my hope for myself is that I would take it as gospel and just move the fuck on. If my wife comes to me and insists she wants a divorce....quite honestly, that could be a blessing in disguise. My wife could never do better (I suck in a lot of ways, but in a lot of ways I do not) and she'd realize that sooner or later. I hope I'd just chuckle my way out of this marriage and eventually into some other woman's panties. Easier said than done, I realize, but it's the lense thr…

This is something I've been realizing lately, even without an abundance of pussy (the opposite, in fact). When sex happens, I get a little glimpse. It's great, but I find that it doesn't fill the void that I think it will when I am starved. I've thought about this A LOT in the past week and as I said in my OYS recently, I am realizing that sex is AN issue, it's not even remotely close to THE issue. I think OP is just much further along as far as living that reality than I am. He seems to be chas…

OYS 2 39, 5’11”, 198lbs. No kids. Married 12 years, together 17. BF (navy method) - 18%. Lifts and Diet: -Shoulder rehab. Separated it last year while grappling, so I’ve been focusing on a circuit of push/pull to reduce pain. It has been helping a lot and I’ve been phasing in push exercises that previously aggravated it. I work this in twice a week on non-deadlift days. -Deadlifts. 95lbs - focusing on form, glute activation and hip drive. A deadlift injury years ago caused me SI joint issues tha…

It's a difficult mindset to break out of, one I still find myself grappling with. I will have moments where, for some reason, I feel like there may be a positive outcome by using logic and conversation. I have to remind myself that it has never once worked in the past and that action, not words, is what matters.

Yeah, you're right. Reading my post back to myself and your words here, I can see that it's all just to protect my ego and cushion myself from the admission that...this is my fault and these are excuses. If I spent more time working (and failing) at the hard things that I suck at, then I might be a lot further along than I am right now. Appreciate the input.

Both of these reactions were out of character (I rarely get angry at work), and BOTH of them represent massive losses of frame/being triggered. I tend to believe that events that trigger us - whether in business or marriage or sex or whatever - all tend to be related to some core unresolved issue. A couple weeks ago I read a comment on here from a vet that advised to always spend time with your thoughts when you get angry. Really examine it and ask yourself why, being brutally honest. This is so…
