This puts them in a precarious situation. Either the young lady wins her case and SCOTUS rules women must endure forced registration just like men(which the courts clearly do not want to do) or dismiss this case and then be forced to rule the selective service unconstitutional when challenged by men. To add some context, I'm a guy who is ALSO the primary bread-winner (I make double what my wife makes). However, if I lose my job, my wife can cover ALL of the bills. Could I live in a bigger house? Sure. Could I have a nicer car? Sure. Could we go on more vacations? Sure. Why don't we? So my wife and I don't lie awake at night worrying... like OP. My wife and I do it this way: 60% of both of our paychecks goes into "group account". This pays all the bills, all the food, all the entertainment, and we still save hundreds a month from this account. The remaining 40% goes into our seperate accounts. We do whatever the hell we want with this money, no questions asked. I make double what she makes. We've never had a fight about money that lasted any longer than 2 minutes.

True, but I don't think courts can touch BAH and BAS, just base pay. After all, those BAQ benefits are tax free... and hopefully alimony and child care free too... But I do agree the $400 to live on amount (stated in the article) is under what he actually takes home, but it's not a whole lot more.
