Man here. At first, I came away from the quote feeling it is a bit shallow, tinged with what today’s world calls “misogyny”. It made me sad, actually, like much of what Schopenhauer writes. If he sounds harsh or misogynistic here, I don’t think he spares men much grief either in the rest of his work.
