I knew a few 'white knight' types who would demonize the books. Most of the girls I knew were only interested in the sex stories and thought the rest of the book was dumb (didn't show it to all of the girls though in fear of reactions like the ones you speak of). Yes. I think its safe to say an inherent desire to improve one's self is necessary for evolution to work. It is important for survival. Take a step back. She wants you to think that this was "just a lapse" in her "horny girl mind". That conveniently absolves her of some of the responsibility of her actions. Don't be a fool.
