We all have our quirks that others will find odd. I find singing really loudly and really getting lost in the music while I'm driving to my job that stresses me the fuck out makes me arrive in a much better mindset. I'll be damned if I let anyone catch me doing it though hahaha. I think the theraputic part of it all, wether it is singing in a car or going primal in the woods, is just being uninhibited, letting go, and not giving a fuck. A rare moment where you allow yourself to decouple from all…

The problem that I have is that "evangelist vegans" convince uniformed people to cut out animal products without knowing anything about nutrition and end up malnourished as a result. I didn't look into it but at least you provide a plan that, i assume (based on your 5 years of being healthy and stronger than before), structures the meals and recipes around creating nutritionally complete meals. Plant based diets CAN work, even for strength training and athletics, if the person eats properly. Con…

I'm not entirely sure what type of article you had in mind but https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2129159/ explains Ketogenesis and ketosis decently. And the PDF here is a bit more dense of a read but it is a clinical trial, if you prefer to extract your own information, http://m.jbc.org/content/52/2/393.citation based on the threshold for Ketogenesis to occur. /u/yahyasafe7 /u/throwaway-chemist

Sure, occupied at the moment but I'll share some later. But your body running on glucose just means it's in it's natural state. It's like if your average Joe were to just eat pizza and bacon cheeseburgers. The part that actually puts you in ketosis is the <5% carbs. Not the high fat. The high fat is just to give your body energy to run off, since that replaced glucose as the body's primary fuel source upon entering Ketosis. Protein has to be kept moderately low because excess will be converted i…

Agreed. Also going slightly over and getting "kicked out" of keto can be a very brief thing. That comment was more geared towards the people who would always be slightly over. "What's the harm in 1 piece of bread" kind of people. Just putting it out there that there is no scale of "moderation" with ketosis. It's a state that you are either in or you are not.

Because then you are no longer using the fat as your primary fuel source which is the whole point of keto. Your body is no longer in ketosis. Then your just on a fatty diet with not enough carbs to maintain your muscle mass. Your body will go catabolic. I mean "technically" calories in < calories out = weight loss. It just gets way more nuanced the more specific your goals are.

Great post. Two quick addendums. It's important to note that Ketogenesis is a all or nothing process. If you cheat and eat too much carbs, your body switches back to glucose as the primary means of fuel (Which on a high fat diet is a bad thing). If you don't have the will power to commit, then stick to a traditional low fat diet. Another helpful bit is to move your carbs away from bedtime. Your body produceces most of it's natural GH while you are sleeping. GH burns fat and has health/longevity/…

Nice comment. Really keeps with the true spirit of the sub. A viable means of self improvement. Have my upvote sir. Respect.

I think the main takeaway here is don't try to kid yourself. You don't need to write down everything to know that doing a handful of curls and some treadmill once a week isn't going to give you the body you want. If that was the case, everybody would be shredded like a pornstar. Effort is directly correlated to results. Don't lie to your self about your effort and your results won't be surprising. If you don't know what you are doing, get informed from quality sources. If you need a program, use…

Of course it's not "necessary" but why work against yourself? Isn't TRP about self improvement and not just taking the easy way out? Also, IIFYM is a load of shit. I don't care what anyone says, 300 calories of carbs from donuts is not the same as 300 calories of carbs from rice/potatoes.

Meal timing can play a big role if your lifting is already in check. Timing alone will not get you to your goals but body chemistry IS a thing. Let's use GH and Insulin as examples. GH actually promotes lipolysis among many other "health and longevity" benefits. Your body naturally produces GH while you sleep. Insulin, on the other hand, is a transport hormone which promotes glucose uptake and "shuttles" nutrients in a grossly oversimplified manner of putting it. Your body produces insulin when …

I mean... It was a date and he admitted to taking her out, them both getting drunk, and taking her to his bed. The sex part is just he said/she said. Having the first 2 details already admitted to brings them that much closer to the accusation. Yes it's a fucked up world, that's why you have to always CYA with everything you do. There are a lot more malicious people out there in this world than some floozy who drank too much and is embarrassed about winding up in some guys bed. It could be as si…

The amusing thing is had the roles been reversed and the husband making lunch for his wife he would be applauded. So much for double standards right?

Know thy self is the most important point in my opinion. Know what you are willing to commit and have realistic expectations for your level of commitment. Any exercise is better than no exercise. But adding 2 days a week jogging to your existing lifestyle is going to build a completely different physique in a completely different time frame than lifting 5x a week on top of eating clean. Both goals are perfectly fine, but don't fool yourself with unrealistic expectations. The exception is steroid…
