If she was applying at the same age as the usual male applicants & if she met the same criteria for selection of those candidates then I would agree with you, she should not be treated differently than those candidates. But she is wasting everyone’s time by demanding special treatment that no one else on that course receives so yes, if she turns out to be wasting everyone’s time then she should pay for it.

No, the police can arrest you & book you without the approval of anyone from the DA’s office if they believe they have probable cause. The DA’s office only come into play after you’ve been booked when the case is referred to that office for prosecution.

Nope - my original comment did not address the issue one way or another. Whether or not she pointed the gun at them or refused to put it down, what I said in 3) remains true - the officer decided she was a threat & shot her. That is what the police are saying - another article I read said she was holding it & when she didn’t drop it fast enough the police shot her. So whether she pointed it or refused to drop it is currently disputed - I guess we will have to wait & see if there is body camera footage to find out which it was.

No. The IDF does not systematically engage in murder, & it has a long (if imperfect) history of prosecuting those soldiers who violate its norms. Claiming that Palestinian civilians being killed equates to murder is absurd. Palestinians (like most Arabs) object to being denied the freedom to oppress Jews (& other minorities). Israel, for all its faults & transgressions, still provides its Arab & Muslim citizens with more human & civil rights than they would receive in any Arab country on the planet. Let’s be honest here - those same universities have punished people for speech that was not even indirectly advocating for violence. The double standard isn’t that they allow violent speech against Jews but not against anyone else. There has never been a court ruling that enforced the hiring or firing based on “best qualified candidate” criteria. Not only is this true; but courts have ruled that police departments are allowed to disqualify a candidate from consideration for possessing an IQ above a certain threshold. They are legally allowed to refuse to hire someone who (in their view) is too smart to become a cop.

So we have no way of judging integrity or trustworthiness by that. I’m not going to judge an employee based on what someone else says about them unless it can be corroborated & put fairly into context. However, I will absolutely judge them by their own statements & behaviors. however under Rules of Engagement you mostly have to wait until you are actually being shot at to do anything. While this can be true; the ROE’s can vary significantly based on the location & situation. There are definitely times where the ROE’s permit acts which would not be protected under the civilian statutes re: self-defense.

Self-defense shouldn’t depend on size as the attacker chooses their victim, the victim doesn’t choose their attacker. A person who attacks (initiates violence) someone else has just made a bad decision & a criminal one; if they compound that error by attacking someone bigger than them, it doesn’t excuse or reduce their culpability for the first error.
