At heart I'm a failed SJW. In my opinion incel is an identity and belief system at least as much as it is a descriptive term. Calling any normie who is sad about being a virgin an incel would only cause endless confusion. Imho to qualify as incel you must in addition to the objective criteria at least also be willing to apply this term - which was popularized by and will in the public consciousness always be associated with ER - to yourself.

Maybe. I see some BPD traits in myself (sooner or later all my close-ish interpersonal relationships seem to fall victim to "Go away!" - "Don't abandon me!" and "Can't you see that I'm only hurting you to hurt myself?") but it doesn't strike me as especially widespread on the incels sub as a whole. Then again, I know better than to hang out on the various discord servers.

An incel is a virgin who has never been in any kind of romantic relationship, who suffers from this lack of sexual and romantic connection and who chooses to identify him/herself as "incel". Some might want to write "a male virgin" or add "who has never received any sign of sexual or romantic interest from their preferred sex" but, personally, I'm happy with the definition as it is above.

Following my mother's death my father has been reorganizing and updating photo albums. Yesterday he showed me pictures from his youth and early adulthood - his first girlfriend (they were together for 8 years), camping with friends, drinking at some party, uni field trips with friends, his girlfriend again and again, other parties, attending a friend's wedding, giving his girlfriend a tour of the barracks during military service, drinking with his buddies during military service, ... Worst was w…

There's a whole bunch of mental disorders you'll find represented among incels but I doubt that ASPD is very common. I'd primarily look into the direction of depressive, avoidant and schizotypal personality disorder (along with a generous helping of BDD).

If you want any other information about the origin of the movements, I can give you some other sources. Some are in German and are harder to understand when translated though. Not who you were replying to but I'd be grateful if you could give me those sources. I'm German, so no need to bother with translations.

It comes from men actually seeing HOT women (not "women", HOT women) getting attention 24/7. For me it comes from women replying to these claims with statements like "That's just not true for average girls. I get hit on maybe once every other week." In setting out to refute the statement they confirm everything about it - you have ~20 guys a year hit on you, I haven't had a single girl hit on me in 13 years (assuming dating starts around age 15). As far as I am concerned that is pretty much 24/7…

Show me an incel who says "i'm incel because of my own choices. I don't feel like doing all the hard work that is necessary to improve and get laid" and I'll buy that man a beer. What good is a beer supposed to do? I don't even drink alcohol. But for what it is worth I must have written half a dozen posts about why I don't pursue the therapy that I know would be the first step towards getting out of being incel. Here's my most recent answer to "what do you think are the reasons that you are an i…

Age 22 - 25 I was miserable but the fact that I was a virgin didn't really cross my mind during that time.

Favorite type of porn: Clothed & unaroused male canes naked woman. I guess in a relationship I'd want emotional closeness and very vanilla sex - but I'm incel so I don't really know how what I think I want holds up against my actual desires.

But apparently now it just means "someone who isn't you?" Uh...okay I guess. "Someone I'd envy for his ability to attract women." Seeing how I'm incel the bar for someone being a Chad to me is extremely low.

If she rejects a man but is in principle looking for a relationship then she is looking for someone better. "Chad" is code for anyone who would be more successful at attracting one or any woman than you are. If your personality is off-putting then she will love Chad's. She is waiting for Chad because by definition a Chad is the kind of guy she'd be waiting for.

Keep an open mind and you'll observe what I said about people struggling to give non-explanations for getting laid that will not get them ostracized from the community. It's an axiomatic belief that self-improvement does not work and that incels who engage in it are pathetic normie-wannabes. That has consequences for what people do and do not tell about their lives and results in a surprising number of incels getting their dick lodged in some pussy by complete accident.

You know nothing. If - purely hypothetically speaking - I had asked a girl out and she had agreed to go on a date, do you think I would ever post on the incels sub about that fact or what I might have done to get there? rofl, that would be a fast way to get excluded from a social group I care about a lot. No, if I ever were in that situation I'd keep quiet for as long as I could and if something happened that would force me to acknowledge it (loss of virginity) I would definitely make a point of…

My entire point was that you can't blindly trust what people say on /r/incels - our personas there are heavily stylized and quite often based on wishful thinking. People don't just randomly stumble into a vagina one day but judging by the explanations they make after losing their virginity you'd certainly think so. Image is important and nobody wants to be a pathetic normie cuck.

Feminists raised us not for the world as it is but for the world as it should be - which left us horribly ill-equipped to compete in the sexual marketplace (even thinking of relationships in terms of economic metaphors makes me recoil, that's not at all how things were supposed to work). Now you have a moral duty to actually turn the world into the feminist post-gender utopia that we were taught to expect, you can't just abandon us like this.

So what? We get shamed because we don't live up to some Chad ideal of masculinity - isn't that something you should be fighting? But instead all the "help" we receive tells us how to become better at conforming to that oppressive norm (lift, be confident, don't show feelings, prove your value, ...) so that one day we, too, might be able to define ourselves through narratives of sexual conquest. Incels are losers of the patriarchy but you spit at us.

B is not assumed, it's observed. Who do you have observed? I've been hanging out on the incels sub for several months and I couldn't say who is trying and to what degree - it's not something we tend to talk about (because who wants to be the cuck who still tries to please normies irl?). Just look how often seemingly hopeless cases had to admit to having gotten improbably "lucky" or have quietly removed the "khv" from their flairs one day - there's a lot going on behind the scenes that you don't …

With all their rhetoric about fighting toxic masculinity and normative gender roles feminists should be standing with us incels - instead they backstab us.

Virginity figures can be had from this CDC survey Which does not account for sexual orientation - i.e. any homosexual persons who never experimented with the opposite sex are included in those numbers (but hardly incels).

Incels Fixate on Alphas and Chads Unnecessarily and this is Completely Counter-Productive I get the impression that it's normies who have a very narrow concept of who Chad is (usually some kind of frat boy or gym bro in their minds). This leads to endless exchanges on the incels subreddit that follow the pattern of "You incels are wrong, I'm not Chad and I have a girlfriend" - "Quit your bullshit. Some girl found you attractive, so obviously you're a Chad" or "I love my boyfriend and he isn't a …

Another thread recommends "If an unattractive man is unsuccessful in dating, the best solution is to lower his physical standards and appreciate unconventional beauty". What I don't get is where we are supposed to find these hideous women. I'm in university and I can't think of a single girl in any of my classes that I'd reject based on looks. People here all have basic hygiene and if they are overweight then not grossly so.

When I did military service (Germany) we used the TV in our barracks room (6 beds, 4 occupied) almost exclusively to watch telenovelas. Not sure why, wasn't my idea but I also never protested it. edit: Some considerations: We didn't feel like we had anything to prove that would have prevented us from watching women's TV. Our high self-esteem had no basis whatsoever in any actions of our own but we sure felt superior to pretty much everyone other than mountaineers, paratroopers and special forces…

Pretty much this. Chad is every guy I feel inferior to. His qualities depend entirely on what I feel insecure about in that given moment.

Friendless incel, so what do I know - but it seems to me that one's understanding of "friend" would play a pretty big role in how to answer that question. Is a friend someone you have talked with a few times? Or does true friendship require years of shared experiences?

Wrong because it's unfair to the woman or wrong because it's counterproductive? I can't speak for anyone other than myself but here's how I see it: life sucks, people suck. What I want from life it can't give me (an objective purpose that makes up for the suffering). What I want from people they can't give me (unconditional love). But the last thing I'm going to do is bend over and spread my cheeks by accepting what has been a non-consensual situation from the get-go (life is like a rapist that …

(i) Did you grow up believing that looks don't matter in attraction / relationships or particularly that women don't favour stereotypically hot guys? I grew up believing that for any women worth dating looks shouldn't matter. Of course there are trashy women who care about that kind of thing but they're not who I am supposed to be interested in, a good woman would be enamored by my mind. I started going to the gym this year and tbh don't have a lot to show for it but my mother constantly warns m…

When they get called out on this, ''incels'' twist the meaning of the term, and move the goalposts to describe something completely different to the concepts of ''involuntary' and ''celibacy'', which renders the term ridiculous. The ForeverAlone term got hijacked by SJWs, we have to make do with whatever identifier was left over. Thanks to Elliot Rodger "incel" at least enjoys a certain degree of name recognition.

Adult virgin seems to be the preferred term in what little literature exists on the topic. "incel" is an identity, not a description.
