Thank you so much! I am starting today on the right foot. :)

The thing I like more about grown-up stores is that the lighting tends to be a lot nicer and the clothes are arranged in a nicer way. That's part of what you're paying for, I guess, a better shopping experience. But anyway, that's a digression.

I'll think about it and see if I have enough to make a post about it. Thanks for your encouragement!

Thanks! I find that the only things I usually have to make are skirts. I can usually find tops just fine and casual dresses (Gap makes them for women in their 30s, so they're a bit longer and look perfect on me), it's just that jeans are IMPOSSIBLE, especially on a budget. So, skirts skirts skirts! And skirts are so easy to make. Edit: Also, are you sure you're not just wearing peplum tops and thinking they're dresses? Just teasing. ;)

I would love to, but I don't think I am at all qualified! I'm not a very good seamstress, I think. My tip would be to start with pattern work, and understand how patterns work so you can make your own! Also, there's so much DIY information on the internet, if you know the sewing terms/fashion terms for the clothes you would like to make, then you can look up DIY tutorials pretty easily. :)

Of course you will be taller than most people. I'm 6'2" as well, I am taller than most people. But you have the opportunity to ask people, "Let's all sit down," or "Do you mind if we find a bench?" The more you do this, the more you will not loom over people. I agree, you shouldn't use leadership skills in a relationship. Don't! But you can make yourself available for a leader to come in by stepping down from leadership in many instances of your life. Also, I wouldn't date a man with a crippling…

I am totally self taught! I hated it at first and I still don't /enjoy/ it, but graceful sewing is such a feminine task and the results are bespoke ANYTHING! I see it as a challenge to elegantly make my desired product, because mindless consumerism and impatience is not feminine at all.

D-did I post this in a time machine three years ago? Seriously, I'm creeped out. I am in my last year of university, and I too was the 6' 2" ice queen 'goddess.' I still am 6' 2" (tall-TALL girls represent), but now I am described as 'elegant,' 'supportive,' 'lovely,' and 'cute.' Back then, I was 'smart,' 'aloof,' 'opinionated,' 'regal.' I was arrogant and stand offish. I dated submissive men who let me boss them around (even boss them into being more dominant, which never works, duh). My mother…

Well, you can do these things to make new friends and gain confidence can't you? Or at least have more to talk.about than work? And besides, you might meet people there who know someone, or invite you to the pub and you come across someone. It's about being social and involved in the world, and that is how you accidentally find love. Not by being in your house. Even online dating, like you've been doing, helps get you out there. I know depressive tendencies are hard. But giving in to the exhaust…

Other people have made suggestions. Volunteering, cooking classes, reading in cafes, a sports club, a park, a cultural group... Anything you're interested in.

I think you should do the hard thing and get out there. If anything, it will make you more friends and help your confidence.

I suppose in the end you just have to take a leap of faith; he can't promise you that he will promise you that he will marry you one day (not a wording error), really... So it just comes down to if you think the risk is worth it personally. I'm sorry that you have been struggling with this and I am sure you will find a solution.

How long have you been together? It really comes down, then, to job security/your career versus your relationship with him, and that's a personal choice you have to make.

I live back and forth between two continents and do believe in cohabitation, so I might not be the best to offer advice, but I'll just throw in some things to consider. I don't think you necessarily need to be engaged to be committed to one another at 22. You have the best sense of your seriousness as a couple and his committedness. If you really talk about it or be introspective, it should become clear how committed you both are, regardless of whether you are engaged. What do you want out of hi…

I'm so glad that everyone has been so successful! I just wanted to throw in that I used total try and eat less than I do now as part of a healthier lifestyle, but I am an active person with low blood pressure (that is worsened by not eating enough) and is very tall. I cook all my dinners and breakfasts from whole, perishable ingredients (including home made bread), and only go to lunch venues who I can see are doing the same thing. This dietary style has been a part of my life for a long time, a…

I think so too! She seems like a savvy lady. I just wanted to make sure it was clarified a little since her example was dick jokes and that might confuse some newbies (probably would have confused me two years ago).

I LOVE this! I am not really on board with the cool wife bit, I think a lot of women could misinterpret that as liberty to get nosey and pushy with hanging out with his friends. I think it's better to respect his guys and not try to be a part of their group unless you all are previously friends or he asks you to. Obviously it is down to your dynamic. But I think as a general rule, being a cool wife is best when it is paired with the assumption that he doesn't want you to be at his guy's nights. …

Thank yoh so much for your support! I think I will talk it over with him, and see what he thinks is the best idea. I will probably go forward with it, but I need to make sure he feels comfortable with it! As such a private guy, he likes to know he is in control of the information about us. But, I am sure he will approve!

So much! I still have 'wobbles,' where I get insecure and give him puppy eyes rather than deal with something like an adult, but I have had a drastic reduction in panic attacks and actually feel more empowered and confident knowing that I have a great captain and man that I work hard to make happy, compared to blue pill relationships and singledom. I am so excited to see where this relationship goes and for the massive adventures he helps me to go on (travelling to, working in, and living in dev…

I'm wheely, and I have been an RPW for about six months now, but I discovered it and was intrigued about a year ago. I am in a 6 month relationship, and have a travelling lifestyle. I mainly lurk because my SO prefers confidentiality. :) RPW has made me happier, more fulfilled, less anxious, a better girlfriend, and a better future mom. I'm so supportive of all of the work the mods do here and I love the new direction.

I think it would be really helpful for the single ladies too to remember what they're holding out for and stuff they can look for in a captain.

Only 5??! He is just. His sense of justice is nuanced and absolute, and he lives by it. He doesn't compromise on what is right, especially for others. He protects me. Usually from oncoming cars because I have a tendency to not look before entering the street. Always wants to know I've gotten home safely. He makes love to me like a god. My sexual pleasure brings him so much pride and satisfaction, and I love seeing the smug glow on his face when he makes me feel good. I also like to feel good. He…

I would love to! When I was in the US I dropped by now and then, but now that I'm in the UK, it's a lot harder to match up with when everyone is active in the irc. I'll keep trying though! When are the busiest times in eastern standard time?

I would like partner's MBTI type as well and option for space to discuss, because I am INTJ and my partner is INFJ, and while that might sound a little backwards for most RPW, I'd love to explain how it actually works really well for us.

Week started out so bad and ended up pretty good! I was lazy at first about working out and was Pmsing so badly and ended up putting it all on my SO. He directly asked me what was wrong and so I told him, explained that it was probably mood swings, and he was very supportive. After that, I turned things around and have been happy, healthy, and self-reliant all week. I am so grateful for him, he is so eternally patient and understanding as I go through this learning process. My goals this week: -…

So true! Listen to your man before RPW advice too, because he is your leader. I was avoiding talking about politics with my SO because the gets quite heated until he told me he missed our fiery political debates. Now I take a stand and give him some (fun) confrontation, but only where he wants it!

I'm actually really proud of myself this week! I handled getting space really well and have chosen joy, gratitude, and first-mateyness all week! Yesterday I was a bit tense but I openly acknowledged it, apologized and never directed it towards my SO. He was grateful for the communication and gave me direction on how to feel better, which I appreciated. Sometimes he just blows me away! This week, I want to stick to my exercise regimen and shave my legs every day (so difficult because my bathroom …

I have had on and off terrible acne for years, and have known that it is caused by vitamin b, either in vitamin supplements or beauty products! My one word of advice is to ask someone with every product if b vitamins are included if you are at all sensitive to this, as it can cause terrible acne and isn't listed obviously much of the time.

I'm just getting back into the swing of things with a new (and last for undergraduate!) term at university, and that has brought back lots of great and poor things. After an extended holiday with my SO, I have a lot more responsibilities on my plate and have to confront the fact that I want to find a lot of new friends because a lot of the old ones were not great for me. I have also had a talk with my SO about the fact that we are at the point in our relationship now (~3 months, 1 year as friend…

Must be! I think by trying to give him space when he doesn't ask for it, I am actually confusing him and potentially hurting his feelings. I will stop that. (I never ask after sex, but when we're leaving the library for example) She can do stuff like that! She also loves Jane austen, maybe we can watch that super long pride and prejudice....

Thank you so much! You're right, read read read is what i need to do. A rpw book club with great rpw role models would be soooo amazing! I have so much I need to read, and I should prioritize that. And generally, thank you everyone for all of your guidance. I am so grateful and feel so supported and much more confident in how to move forward. I really needed someone to cut through all the anxiety and just remind me that I already know what I need to do, and you all have been so wonderful at that…

Thank you so much! Turning to you guys was a big step rather than asking him for validation, which I recognize is unhealthy. I will try to control my panic and dive into my passions! They are so important to me too and I know he sees it as important that I have things I love to do.

Thank you so much for your response! I am aware of the anxiety, and I am trying to at least sound peaceful, even when it's hard. My last relationship was with a very very clingy, insecure man and that was what turned me on to men with more leadership qualities. I think I am still expecting that constant attention, which I don't want now and need to let go of. Keep the conversation happy - such a great phrase! Thank you so much, I will work on myself and stop trying to be in control of factors in…

Sorry for the confusion! I do want to sleep next to him, but I don't want him to feel like we have moved in together or that he can't have nights to himself when he wants them. I would sleep next to him every night, and I basically do. My mother is very ill and cannot do yoga (so sad!), but we are both Buddhists and meditate, though her practice is very different than mine. Maybe I will ask to do one of her meditations and experience what she does in her practice? Thank you so much for your advi…
