Women make the decisions about where money is spent, and women prefer a story where women are in control. Hence doofy dad.

Same in Russia right now: high school kids figuring out how to reach and cross a border before conscription. They know they’re frontline fodder, and are likely to be killed or captured by the end of the summer.

A child is better brought up in a two-parent environment, ideally one in which the two parents care for each other. Single-parent kids arguably tend to have mental issues that follow them into adulthood, which is a net negative for society. Also, the kid generally bears the father’s name, if that’s important to you. Both of these points are good for the child, not necessarily for the father. Not sure what other benefits marriage itself actually brings …. Rights of survivorship, maybe.

They value status, and the chance to social-climb. Looks and money are two good options, of course, but family and connections beat both of those.

To so many men (not us thoughtful, mature and considerate ones, of course /s), a direct look in the eye from a woman (any woman at all, really) is taken as an invitation. Therefore, most women ’deflect’ out of habit, so that they are not constantly confronted with men who want to engage in conversation. They look anywhere else but at men’s eyes. It’s the same reason why celebrities wear sunglasses.

A marriage is sold to the couple as a romantic ideal. The state sees a marriage as a single economic unit.

The real answer is to take care of yourself first. Only after you have your own life in order: cash in the bank, retirement plan well underway, your life plans made and begun, all the things that are important to you addressed FIRST .... only then do you consider taking on a female companion. When (if ever) you do that, protect all your assets. If necessary, hide them. Having a woman around can be great. Even kids can be great. It’s possible she can be a real asset if she has a clear, constructi…

Religion = crowd control, and kids = future crowds to be controlled. Notice how the weddings work, though. They often take place in a church, but it’s from the state that a couple buys a license to become a single economic unit.

She tipped her hand and showed the guy who and what she really is. Once he’s past the pain, confusion and disbelief he will be able to see she did him a favor by taking herself out of his life. Most women can conceal their motivations better than she did. Suppose he finds this out after they’re married? Suppose he finds this out after there are children whose needs will come first before his own? I know I’m preaching to the choir in this sub, but we who are wiser have to carry the message to the…

I went for braces while in my 40s. It was somewhat painful, and somewhat expensive, but I have never regretted doing it. I have solid teeth now, that bite cleanly, and a good smile. It’s less about attractiveness, and more about health, quality of life, and confidence. I liken good teeth to good tools: you never begrudge the money spent on good tools.

That’s not a definition of fascism. Fascism is governmental and economic power combining to create overwhelming force. Tools of fascism include targeted use of police. Antifa is a leaderless ideology, which has none of these things.

What you’re saying is quite true: being a single mom is not an infallible indicator of moral failing. Lots of single moms are fine, upstanding wonderful people. From the man’s point of view, she’s still a losing proposition. No matter how much she and he may get along, come to respect and to care for each other, she will never love him best, never love him first. She already has a primary focus, which is the child. Women’s beauty and social currency has a very short shelf life. Ask any Hollywood actress. If their lives are built on how they look, rather than skills and accomplishments, their happiness and ease is short-lived. If that’s the tradeoff, I’d far rather be on the male side. The horizon is wide open, I can be anything, and it’s based on things other than appearance.

So when a woman describes herself as wife material, what does that mean? That she’s tired of partying now, and is looking for something stable and boring?

The best answer is being sure you're doing the things that matter to you. The answer will be personal and unique to you. Me, for instance, I'm a painter. I'm interested in art, keep a studio space, follow my line of picture inquiry by working every day. It's absorbingly interesting to me, but to someone else it would be the wrong answer. I have my circles of friends and acquaintances, male and female, and I care deeply about them all, but I can sure do without a wife's extra demands.

Society provides some incentives for marriage. It’s the brass ring at the end of movies. Insurance rates are often better. Every pop song is about some aspect of male/female romance. And every woman will try to talk you into it. But look at it square-on. A marriage, in current America and everywhere else, is not a magical union of souls; it’s a contract. It unites two people into one economic unit. Also, there’s no magic in a wedding ceremony that makes two people closer than they might otherwis…

Media in general, and product advertising in particular, continually presents the narrative that an individual is never quute good enough. It doesn't just come from parents. Advertising, as a tool of capitalism, may be the worst offender here. They almost universally take the position that their target audience is not quite good enough. Coincidentally enough, they have the right answer for your problem, their product. But we all, as a society have to rewrite this script sometime. It might as well…

In my experience, this 'talk' is not a friendly exchange of views, it's really an attempt at coercion. One person wants to push another person to a position they have not arrived at on their own. It's often got an ultimatum buried inside it: think the way I do, or else. When I'm offered an ultimatum of that kind, for me, the relationship is over from that point, and I'm planning my exit.

Yeah, if there are any actual women reading this, here's the takeaway - you're going to have to be clear. Men are either too dumb to get your subtle signals, or they're too worried that they're misreading them. The world is so full of stalker stories -- guys constantly bothering women who have done nothing to encourage them -- and we have a horror of being thought to be one of those. So quit waiting for the guy of your dreams to meet you cutely. So very unlikely. Pick your guy, look him in the f…

Life is 'interior' as well as exterior. It's what's going on between your ears as much as what you're doing in the world. So learning things makes the changes in the outer world more colorful and meaningful, finding connections and layers of meaning you weren't aware of before. This makes for an interesting life, makes you more capable and resourceful and creative, lets you make even more new connections that only you could make since you're a unique individual. So time spent in school, and time…

In non-bar places. Library, grocery, bus stops ... Personally I'm not into girls in bars. They tend to have no long term life plans or much of a philosophy beyond 'whatevs'. Also, they tend to be more into clothes, makeup, and they think the Kardashians are role models.

Hate to agree, but it's pretty much true. White girls grow up on a diet of privilege in many cases, and take male admiration for granted. Many are normal, happy, well-adjusted human beings with a full range of emotional intelligence, and they're a delight to know, but a significant number of white women are what we used to refer to as spoiled.

It's not either/or. There are degrees. Next time you're in a store, like in a mall, watch the feet. As it was explained to me, a foot pointing away during a sales pitch means the shopper is only listening with half an ear.

Old habits change when replaced by new ones. Decide what you want your new life to look like, then build habits that support it. Example: you're sour on drinking because it wrecks your life and makes you feel like crap. Tired of that noise, you decide you want a life where you feel better. Replace the urge to grab a drink with walking or running (or whatever you want in your life). Repeat that process until the whole drinking thing is weeks, months and years ago. Key thing is to REPLACE the habi…

Introversion and self-consciousness are two quite different things. Don't confuse them. That said, you have both of these to deal with. Find people who do well at what you're trying to achieve.
