I'm a long time lurker of this sub and I must say this is the kind of content I'd like to see more off. Smooth, natural and no one really seemed forced to act a certain way.

I usually start with pats on the shoulder/arm after a joke. Hi fives for random things. And if she's cool with all of that, I usually ramp it up to a casual side hug and gauge her reaction. By this time she's either reciprocating or made it clear via body language she's not into it. Obviously everyone's different so you have to gauge the situation and go with the flow.

I'll post what I posted below Lowered self confidence can easily lead to a slightly closed demeanour. OP probably wasn't even hateful towards anyone (more than likely a subconscious disliking of himself). However, unless you've trained like an actor, spy or a politician, your body language will give away your inner thoughts easily. Simple things like looking down, slightly wrinkled brow can make you seem hateful/intimidating, even though that's your "default look". So probably what she meant was…
