1	Double standards I looked it up and they claim wifey and hubby originated from the 18th and 17th century respectively, so I find it hard to believe one is more updated than the other. But you're probably right in saying those two words probably had different uses back then. So it would make sense that it probably is out of date. 6	Double standards the problem is that theyre dictating the meaning of the word to have negative connotations. you say its more about the way its used but thats not what the definition tells us. honestly its not really that big of an issue with me but they could have simply defined both words as a dimunitive. it certainly would have been better if they said 'can be condescending' rather than 'is condescending'	/r/MensRights	24/02/20 06:32 PM
4	Double standards i just think it's hypocritical. call your husband hubby and its okay but the moment you call your wife wifey its somehow condescending. they're both affectionate terms, i've never seen a woman get offended by being called wifey by her husband. they should have defined it like, 'an informal and often affectionate way of saying wife/husband; a dimunitive'	/r/MensRights	24/02/20 02:36 PM
