I wasn't outraged by the film, I was bored as I don't need a male-gazey take on this topic. It really did feel like a snuff film at times, the way she was abused and objectified.

Don't be condescending. I "got it" too, and hated the film. It was tedious, male-gazey, and incredibly violent. Not my cup of tea.

I will never forget intervening in a domestic violence situation. The abusive instigating guy had the same cut over his eye as this murderer in the video, and tried to point to it was "SEE? SHE'S ABUSIVE TOO". Disgusting.

I can relate to this and hear you, but at the same time a year and three months from the death of a partner to a whole ass marriage is... quick. To meet, date, get engaged, plan, and HAVE a wedding? Weddings alone can take months to plan. His new wife looks like a clone of Michelle.

I relate to this so much. It's not even a joke on my end, I always say if I could be the dad/sperm donor I would do it in a heartbeat. The most common response is "well you could always adopt?" but they don't get it. I will always been seen as the mom, there is no escaping my biology and the way it's perceived as the mother role.

Ah not the OC. Mostly referring to the comparison of American vs Russian men. Different flavors or entitled.

Domestic abuse is basically not a crime in Russia. Not saying American men are great or anything, but be careful what you wish for. Respect is in short supply no matter where you find the men.

Thank you! I appreciate that a lot :) I definitely agree with that you’re sharing, and my current situation wasn’t always imbalanced which is what feels frustrating. Like the effort is conditional on if this dude is in her life or not. I’m taking the steps to let go of any expectation on my own and be okay with where things are at. And most importantly, to not take it personally.

Yeah I totally hear you! I wish I had better advice or an easy solution. Maybe lean into friendships? But even still that can’t replace physical intimacy.

Going through a friend breakup thanks to some no good low life dude who keeps popping up in my friend’s life. This is there third time getting back together and he has mistreated her every single time. He offers nothing except baggage, drama, and sex. I told her she treats me like a second option when he’s around and I’m tired of putting myself out there for the friendship. She says if I’m tired of putting in the effort, I can just “give less” to the friendship which was shitty as fuck (no menti…

Because the one that stays is flesh and bone (often having to do non glamorous parental work like discipline), and the other can be projected on in their absence. Same thing with divorced dad’s who aren’t the primary parent- they get to be fun part time parent.

I outed a cheater in a similar fashion and his fiancé was brutal to me. It was a lot of emotional trauma and abuse on my end. She’s still with him, so I put myself through all of that for nothing.

It actually perfect is lol. Try having hormones surging through you and days of bodily pain. It really sucks and while I’d like to always be in control of myself, it does get the better of me.

I agree, I was hesitant to use that if the OP isn’t ready to label it as such. Sexual assault encompasses r*pe so I figured it was safe to use that umbrella.

He didn’t just take your virginity, that’s assault and certainly does not “count”. What a scum bag. I hope this haunts him forever.

I think you seem sweet and like a kind person so this will be my last message. I am not saying women are perfect angels, I’m saying that saying women are primarily the catty/jealous ones is a textbook sexist generalization. And I was shocked to see it so highly upvoted in this sub. I’m sorry you were viciously bullied by girls growing up. As someone who was also bullied I feel for you. My tormentors were boys who would gossip about my changing body with their friends, talk about what they would …

I believe you are harmfully generalizing and being guilty of the same wired by society to pit women against themselves that you warn about. You could say “it’s nice to see women supporting women” without the caveat of “most of us” being catty jealous bitches. Men can and will smile to your face and degrade you behind your back.

“Women are mostly the ones that are catty” That is absolutely not true. Have you met men?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/07/20 06:24 AM

Um.... anybody can be catty and jealous. What is this sexist nonsense? Compliments from women feel good to me because they aren’t just saying it to get their dick wet.

I think it’s definitely more conscious consumerism and much better than mindlessly buying trinkets just because, for sure. I personally hate gift giving out of expectation, for instance around the holidays where you scramble just to have something for someone to open on the big day and the gift later ends up sitting dusty on a shelf. Fruit and flowers well sourced sounds like really lovely gifts for sure.

How do you reconcile this with anti consumerism? I think it’s sweet but genuinely I don’t want surprises most of the time.

Yup. I’ve been doing some serious reading around the abolish police movement and I’ve come to the same conclusion. I have pretty reformist reviews of o justice system and the only crime I frimly beleive needs severe punishment is violent harm especially rape and sexual assault. A cop has NEVER helped or gotten justice for me or my friends. There are thousands of rape kits sitting untested. Women get charged, harassed or re victimized. Nasty group of people they are.

She’s been at home watching the kids and probably doing a lot of house work along the way. Child care is an enormous amount of mental, emotional, and physical labor. Edit to add: sounds like wife also works but he’s the primary worker/income provider in the family

Hi there- Any advice for dealing with a friend who keeps falling for a low value fuckboy? I’ve helped her deal with the fallout/breakup/emotional labor of it all twice now and thanks to quarantine she’s back in his orbit. His is the epitome of a LVM... he’s really let her down quite significantly many times and I’ve been there along with other friends to help pick it the pieces. Now that she’s talking to him again, likely entertaining the possibility or being a couple again, I’m over it. It’s ma…

I think I’m going to lose my mind. My dear dear friend who broke up with a clown LVM months ago (second breakup) is back in his web specifically during the quarantine. This guy is trash and I’m sure she’s lonely (he is too) but it’s like ugh.... not again. It’s making me like her less, I know she’s making a huge fucking mistake and I’m sick of watching her make it

Why can’t people use language more carefully as well? It’s not harsh, I’m never in denial about what I am, and the comments themselves don’t bother me as much as how easy it is for people to go there. We can do better than attacking that aspect, there are very real character flaws present.

I 10000% agree with you that he’s being unrealistic and even fatphobic himself. He won’t follow through because it only ever works if you do it for yourself. He’s weak in spirit and mind. Idgaf about his feelings; however the fat thing becomes an easy way to insult him that ends up degrading to innocent bystanders. Really his issue is how delusional and entitled he is.

5’10 actually. Feeling pretty shit about myself reading these comments. I’m a female that’s his exact height and weight (though I lift weights 5x a week). I know I’m fat but uh, still hurts to read. I think fat men and women can be high value.... I think what makes this guy terrible is he’s clearly seeing women as moms and objects. Also the “I know a girl can change me” is bullshit. Not his weight
