I hear you, but this is not at all an endorsement of settling, in fact I couldn't agree more with the idea that settling for the wrong man and having kids with him is the worst thing I could do. The issue here is trying to separate myself from unrealistic expectations, which is hard when the life I want directly involves finding a quality partner.

Honestly that sounds like less than 20%. If each of those categories was an entire 50% of the population, you're well below 1% if they were to meet all of those criteria.

Did she say what those reasons were specifically? Its easy to look at other people's relationships and say a reason is frivolous, but maybe she was seeing or sensing something legitimate. Or maybe she has other priorities over a family and kids. I do have friends who had ended relationships for trivial reasons at age 23 that they would never dream of ending at 29.

Its a sobering reminder to protect yourself. Be strong, fast, and smart, but more importantly be DISCERNING. The best message on this sub is to be tactical about collecting information on men to find out who they really are.

He looks like a smoker. Guys who are out in the sun and smoke age like milk. Imagine trying to explain the concept of moisturizing to him.

Also, be aware that the idea of romantic love is great but it belongs in the realm of fairytales and fantasy. I’m of the opinion that the idea that multi dating is the answer to low quality men. Take exactly as much as you can get from them and give nothing. My parents love each other =(. He is so good and kind and supportive of her. Usually at any given time I am 'talking to' at least 3 potential partners. Not because I want to string them along and 'take exactly as much as I can get' from them…

I would love to know what its like dating women. I'm tragically straight, though.

I mean I would certainly rather be single forever than live with someone who I am just not that into, but my life plan/goals definitely involve children and a partner. I feel like the harsh reality is either I lower my standards and exist in an unhappy relationship, or I remain single forever and never have what my parents had. I have an excellent job and very good earning potential. I have hobbies and a few good friends, but most (ok, all) of them are married, and to be honest my career is just…

I feel you so much, finding someone who I am emotionally and mentally attracted to is harder than finding someone I am physically attracted to. My physical standards are somewhat high, but I wouldn't say unreasonabe. 38% of men are obese, and something like 65% are overweight. Of the remaining %, I'm attracted to a decent number of them. What I am really interested in is how do you feel about your prospects of finding a suitable partner? Personally I wish I had more single friends who live nearb…

How do you find security in just waiting, though? I've always been one to go out and get what I want, and work towards it as necessary. It seems like attractive, successful men are either absolute narcissists or they're not single.

Just reading your comment I thought you meant you immediately rejected a guy if he asked for your number, as in your phone number. I was waiting for some explanation of why that was so immature haha.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
