Damn. Did she also make an account with the regional electricity provider? I bet she also goes grocery shopping. Super odd. It’s like she’s crazy or something.

There are other possible explanations besides truly loving you, or the fear of losing you as support. It could also be that she has actually wanted this, but wanted to do it on HER timeline. Women plan this stuff years in advance sometimes, and now that you are on board and in execution mode, she’s freaking out bc she’s not ready and wants to delay it, so she can get her ducks in a row for a soft landing and being able to extract as much as possible from you. “No way, not my wife” are the famous…

I think most men who were their best selves and on a mission prior to marriage have a much higher chance of reclaiming that post-divorce. Once you have children, it’s much easier to gradually fall into that simping mindset as a strategy for loss aversion — that of compromising yourself to make others happy in order to keep the peace and keep your family together. How ironic that it’s often that exact strategy that breaks them apart.

To be fair you attacked first Blue. The “not new” was an unnecessary opener. Had you said “interesting thoughts, and there appears to be a trend to support it” I think you would have gotten a different response from OP

I think a lot of that is subconscious shit testing and they want you to say no, even if they act pissed in the moment. The right answer is “you got legs” or something funnier. My wife did the same thing. And if I asked for a similar favor I could have done myself I was told no. Appeasement for peace in the short term guarantees a bigger war in the long term.

It took me a while to accept that her words will never be anything but fantasy. Whether she truly believes them or not, I will never know unless she admits it to a third party and I somehow become privy to that. Not gonna happen as she clean-slated her entire social circle and only interacts with people who don’t know me personally, with the exception of her family.

Disagree with this in part. Her checking out isn’t the end. Once she checks in somewhere else it’s truly over. That said, once she’s checked out, doing more of the same will never work.

You’re right. Truthfully everything I said was, in my mind, through the lens of doing it for the children and grandchildren, in order to prevent passing divorce trauma onto the next generation — and increasing your own children’s likelihood of divorcing themselves. If there’s no kids, then there’s really no master vision to preserve wherein the leading lady can’t just be swapped out for a younger, happier, and prettier clean-slate alternative. Everything I said in the post above still applies fo…

That’s awesome. The visual/physical is the hard half of an equation to reverse this trend despite years of backward movement. Keeping your body good your money good is key of LOOKING attractive. The only other piece of that is clothing. I’ll just assume you’ve got that on lock too. Before I get into the other half of BEING attractive, you need to determine whether to even bother to try and win back her respect and desire. That’s dependent on 3 things: Has she fucked anyone yet? If you don’t know…

I struggle with this ‘live well’ concept in the case of nasty betrayals followed by nasty divorces. It’s really hard focus on passive “revenge” after you’ve had everything taken from you… ….your imagined future, your kids for half their childhoods or more, your self esteem, your innocence, your ability to trust, your happiness, sometimes even your job —if the betrayal paralyzed you mental and emotionally— half your net worth, usually your house you bled to provide her… and then after all that, s…

If she needs to pick up an extra job to be able to afford $200 a week in Ubers so be it. Yes, keep showing and driving back home. Not seeing her child will light a fire under her lazy ass.

Perhaps you can encourage your older girl to nap when she gets home from school and let her stay up an hour or 2 later than she does now, so as to not miss out on any sleep and get plenty of time with you after the little ones fall asleep

For me the issue perhaps is ego. Losing my family and wife, the betrayal, the lack of public accountability / exposure to what she did, her false narrative that things were so bad and for so long, and her getting the best of me financially in the divorce. I say ego because it’s hard to face my “co-parent” knowing that she owned me so hard in every arena and faced no repercussions. Every interaction is a reminder of that. That subtle smirk. But at the same time I have to remind myself other men h…

This is what I struggle with. I don’t find relief from finally discovering she torched our life on an emotional affair which turned physical either before or after she asked for divorce. No relief from that. Just swapped sadness for anger for those actions and consequences for our family, and frustration at the lack of honesty and accountability.

This is pure nonsense. She is knowingly screwing you over and the court is too. If I were you I would self represent. Use ChatGPT, your county clerks / family court website, and your state family court website to get this done. Family court lawyers are not magical centaurs. Unless you are actually find yourself in Court itself, everything they do is filing paperwork and motions, etc. And often they don’t even do a fast or a great job of it, since they have so many clients and will never care abo…

If all else fails and you are contemplating ending it I would get on some happy meds first. I would never suggest that, only as a last resort if a new girlfriend, eating right, sleeping well, and exercising doesn’t seem to help alleviate those intrusive thoughts. One thing I’ve never understood about these posts is the anger = self deletion. If I was ever so angry and feeling hopeless due to someone else’s behavior and treachery, I’d like to think I’d lean more towards deleting them rather than …

Agreed. And even if they ARE a good lawyer they can still drop the ball depending on their back office and how many cases they have. Divorce timelines are impossible to predict. Sometimes an attorney has little to do for 1-2 weeks then all their cases align and have like 3 trials 2 depositions and 4 mediations in one week. And if you need something done that week you’re fucked. I had a great lawyer but a couple ball drops fucked me up pretty bad.

If you need revenge, your fists is the wrong way to do it. If you can’t come up with something clever that has no way of backfiring right now, then just bide your time. 1, 3, 5 years out… eventually the opportunity will present itself to you.

Weirdly you didn’t complain about her at all in your post. If she sucked you would have included that somewhere. Are you having an affair? Are you sure this isn’t fixable? If it isn’t I agree the consult is the first step. Other things you can do: reduce income for 1-2 years before pulling the trigger. This has double effect of her needing to get a real job to help make ends meet, so she has a record of how much she can make, otherwise she will be imputed at minimum wage….and this reduces alimon…

Did he… ✅ ask you to watch the spending? ✅ never suggest you shouldn’t work or prevent you from doing so? ✅ he point out that you spend 5-10x more on yourself than he does on himself? ✅ he disagree that your labor as a SAHM entitled you to spend >100% of disposable income on yourself, leaving negative amounts for him to spend on himself? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, your husband is a financial abuser. You must divorce him immediately, claim domestic abuse, and ask for al…

I feel like he should be able to argue that he’s not violent and he has a clean record, but if she wants no contact then she should just live at her mothers, since she has that option and he does not. Say he understand the court leaning on the side of safety, but that safety can be accomplished without him having to pay mortgage and rent simultaneously

Happened to the parents of a college friend. Not in the works for us. Instead of walking out the front door respectfully with grace and proper closure, some women decide to burn down the house and all the memories Will never understand that choice. Removing family nights, movie nights, amicable dropoffs, birthdays, friendship, letting your kids see their parents interact. And yea maybe even leaving the crack open to reconciliation years or decades later… it’s a lot to trade for a couple months o…

If she hasn’t transferred her feelings to another guy then it’s not over yet (but debatable if it’s already occurred). Once that happens it’s really over. The clock is definitely ticking though. The only thing that would work right now would be a full court press. Her heart and mind are made up, the only thing left for you to appeal to is her instinct / lizard brain. No begging, or trying to convince her brain with logic, or heart with romance or appeals to your history. Gotta do everything righ…

Tough to say without having explored both timelines. On the one hand, a second child extends the difficult young years which can prolong the disconnection period, which increases likelihood of divorce, especially if you’re already disconnected by one kid. On the other hand, if divorce is inevitable I think two children is better than one. Being an only child of divorced parents sounds incredibly lonely to me. Better to have a sibling going back and forth with you between the houses throughout yo…

Same. But first she must put in the same amount of effort to apologize and take accountability as the effort she put into sabotaging a respectful divorce and needlessly setting fire to our friendship, history, and chances of amicable coparenting. Unlikely? Sure. But I don’t care about female nature. No free passes. She’s not a child or an animal. She’s an adult with agency. And if we are never able to get to that point for the children’s sakes, that’s on her alone. Blaming evolution is a copout.…

I wanted that. Amicable and friendly. Maybe even family nights, even though she wanted the divorce. But she went full psycho. All the cliches you read about here. I love my kids and know it’s in their best interests, but I could never hide my hate for her for longer than a 5 second drop-off even if I wanted to play nice for the kids. And I don’t. I’m fine with that, because it’s not my responsibility to forget what was done and pretend it’s all good. My attitude is the bed she made and unfortuna…

Yep, they are looking for love everywhere except in the rear view mirror — the father of their children who most likely loved them unconditionally and would have taken care of them and put them first til the end of his days. Ick!
