I think it would be different if I said yes to every assclown that asks me out just so I can get free Chilis. Y'all are so defensive.

I'm pretty okay with not going out from dudes on seddit.

I totally understood not wanting to be used and played. I've been there, often enough that I now look for any sign early on that the guy doesn't want to contribute sufficiently to the relationship. It's almost a knee-jerk thing. "He isn't going to pay? In six months he'll be quitting his job and going to Redbox with my debit card and forgetting to take the movie back for a week!!" Is that a bit dramatic? Maybe. I'm not a zillionaire, so "gold-digging" isn't really a thing I worry about (and yes,…

But I am giving him a chance. He does need to prove that he deserves to be around me. Isn't that what a first date is? I have a lot to offer, too. I'm aight looking, I have a career, and I make a super dope gf. That isn't to say a first date is all about me. But my interest in him is directly related to the fairness of continuing to see him. Isn't it? Is it not a waste of your time and emotions to date a girl who's super unimpressed with you? If I went on a date and discovered the guy has no int…

False. Worst-case, the girl is extremely annoyed and the next guy to ask her number gets a fake, even if he should have been her future husband. You've made yourself an obnoxious ass and ruined things for other people.

YES. And the idea that I'm one of dozens a dude is still texting after one failed text grosses me out.

It's so strange to hear it put that way, because I don't feel as if I'm "getting mine" at all, just from going on a date and it being paid for. If I were not on a date, I'd be getting mine, so to speak. Living my life, buying my dinner (more likely cooking dinner I'd already bought), spending time with my son. If a guy asks me out, I'd assume something about me has appealed to him. If I said yes, he could assume I'm taking time out of my life, giving an unknown guy a chance, and getting a first …

Then I'm more than fine without you. A guy who thinks chivalry is "buying" me is welcome to look elsewhere.

I have frequently bought dinner or drinks or whatever for a guy. But on a first date? If he asked, hell no. I'm not even suggesting that the dude should take me somewhere nice. I'm not saying I want to be bought at all, I'm saying that if you act stingy or like a jobless scrub, it isn't going to happen. That's the impression you give off if you flat out say "I'm not buying shit."

I'd honestly probably find it endearing.

Nobody's going to like this, but I'll be honest. I don't date for money, but I can't afford to date a dude who is too broke or unwilling to buy a dinner. If a guy asks me out and doesn't at least try to pay (and I might insist on throwing in), he's probably not getting a second date. "I don't like paying for someone else's shit" is a super unattractive attitude and doesn't bode well for any kind of future together. I just picture two years later we're living together, buying groceries separately…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
