maybe i shouldn't have brought up morality it concerns another domain all i mean is we,whether we know it or not,sacrifice some of our rights to maintain order---like my wife can ask for her dowry right now but she will not cause she knows i can't pay(just an imaginary example)so she does not go to the police to have me arrested,although she legally can do it.

well let's drop the movement restriction but a husband can forbid her wife from going abroad he is who has the right to consent or not dowry is a way that prevents divorce and reinforce the marriage the husband must pay the dowry if he is asked or if he wants to get a divorce so it acts as a deterrent so to speak,the dowry goes to the wife herself as far as i know so it's not like buying her from her parents...but i know there are other payment which the westerns can't even fathom...like the mil…

thanks for the answer but how can it be against my wife if i have a right legally to restrict her going outs and she has a right legally to demand her dowry?we agreed on that before our marriage but we don't normally use the right we have cause it'll not be friendly,if you excuse the expression,and it'd be like a declaration of war when she asks for her dowry but it's her right

there must be other universal examples though i don't know about other countries but there must be societal norm as a right everywhere...i mean you must have some rights as a husband in your country over your wife and can demand them but if you do the partner will demand hers too and there'll be a conflict i'm bad at examples as can be seen but i think i communicated my point

thanks for the answer the professor only gave us 5 issues arising from insisting on our individual rights-like war/divorce/manipulation of law by the strong and those who know the law and know how to twist it in their own favor and asked us to either agree or disagree with the items based on reason next session he can't have had the idea of a utopia in mind but i think the importance of selflessness to maintain order

thanks for the long answer yes when you insist on these items you have mentioned it will not cause any conflict but did you read what i said about dowry and stuff? ​ like i ask my wife not to go to her parent's house often...she will not obey she says give me my dowry...i will not yield we both are insisting on our rights(and we both should obey what the other tells us but we don't---let's say because i don't have money and she is too attached to her parents)so we will not be able to go on livin…

yeah they do not always use it but they can but if they do things would be unstable cause everyone would be demanding his own rights and there comes a selfish society he has objected to the issue of the insistence of individual rights in a society since as he says it leads to injustice/war/manipulation of law by the strong

there may be more to that like the manipulation of law by the strong,that is the law being in hands of only the strong to use it against the weak and what about wars?people get killed cause someone thinks he has a right to start a war or capture a country if everyone goes and insist on his own rights everything would be unstable.
