This is something related what's being studied to my sociology class right now. The prof and textbook state that not only gender, but the dichotomy of sex (biological male/female) is a social construction. I'm having a hard time dealing with this in class; the entire course seems based off of some people's perception of reality and social interaction. Any "evidence" that is given is purely anecdotal. "Women/men are treated like this/ that, etc."

I'm at university right now; finished high school a couple of years ago. Now that you mention it, I suppose I did have at least one school teacher who could be obviously characterized as a feminist, but certainly not like the one shown in the video.

This ain't just a blow to boys, this is bad in general. I remember in elementary school, I was lucky if my class got one gym session a week. Then I switched schools when I started middle school. I now had Phys.Ed. every day. Besides the obvious health benefits, it made it easier for a new student like me to adjust by getting to know my classmates through sport and teamwork. But yes, as boys tend to excel in physical activity, this could certainly have a greater detrimental affect on them.

I remember in my hometown minor hockey league, there were a couple all-girls teams that we (the teams in the boys league) would play against fairly regularly. These games occurred throughout the 10 years that I played minor hockey. It also doesn't say "always, in every instance". As a generalization it is true. You know this. Confirmation bias is the manipulation and intentional misinterpretation of statistical knowledge as a means of gathering data that supports one's argument or cause; a tendency to favour information that confirms their beliefs. E.g. the long touted "wage-gap" myth. I think you need not look very far for a plethora of examples of confirmation bias in the feminist ideology.

Wow, thanks a lot for the links and data! I'm still wondering though, how does one counter the argument that women make such choices (related to occupation and therefore earnings) based on reinforced societal norms rather than purely out of their own self-determination ("structure" vs. "agency")? I can hear my prof now saying that, while they may be able to make the choice, "they are coerced into making certain decisions by the oppressive patriarchy".
