In a traditional society, you would still be expected to offer some other sort of value to the community, for example you could be a singer. But if you have no real use, and a male like you really doesn't have much use when survival is on the line, well, you'd be exiled and left to fend for yourself, because weakness isn't tolerated when survival is on the line.
