Katherine Spillar, who said of domestic violence: "Well, that's just a clean-up word for wife-beating," and went on to add that regarding male victims of dating violence, "we know it's not girls beating up boys, it's boys beating up girls." Even the first part I found a picture of her face on a quote on someone's quora blog, a tumblr, and a reddit post on this sub and that's it. A news article or video or anything would be fantastic please.

Hey thanks, you too. I'm always down to find out more statistics and change my perceptions, wage gap was a shocking falsehood (inacurate-hood) for instance. I agree with other women judging women's choices more too! Which is why I think it's more of a societal problem than a Men Vs. Women thing. Always open minded, always learning. It's the way to be.

Feel free to steer me in a credible direction, but until then, don't make the claim it's easy to find. I'm not white knighting. I am a woman, I am a feminist. I searched the direct quotes made and only turned up blog posts and quora and a reddit post on here made by another user. Should have been the first thing to come up from a credible source, a news source, a video, but there was nothing. If there was some sort of mistake and the guy just quoted someone else without doing the research that i…

It sure is, feminism is synonymous with women's issues. Just because I don't blindly follow everything that is popular rhetoric when I find out it's untrue or inaccurate (the wage gap is a big one), doesn't make me less of a feminist because I'm educated though. That said, it's totally up to the person, if you don't wanna identify as feminist but still care about these issues you don't have to. I'm just not embarrassed to be a woman or to talk things out.

I'm still not really sure what your point was, you're needlessly condescending? That you can find sources but refuse to share? I should fuck off? Burden of proof is on me for something I did not claim?

Well, your maturity here shows you still live with yours so it means a lot less to me luckily. I googled, as I said mostly turned up a reddit post made my someone else on this sub, and some quora and wordpress blogs. If you couldn't find anything that's fine. Neither could I. No need to comment and be condescending. I guess it's not lazy to comment with retorts when you have nothing to say but it really doesn't have much value here.

I won't get offended, I'll explain my opinion to anyone who asks, I'm going to say being feminist is a lot more palatable to the mainstream than being an MRA but I don't mind filling in the blanks for anyone who wonders why. I am a woman. I see the social ramifications of what I do as unfair and biased, not completely imposed because of men but because of society, I think most women's rights issues in NA are because we are due for a change in perception as to what a woman should be societally. I…

You said, that because feminism doesn't specify a belief set about men it is implicitly worthless, which I believe to be synonymous to if it's not about men it is worthless. I don't know how you figure you did not say or imply that, if there is some misunderstanding elaborate because it seems your entire point is that as there is no ideological standpoint on men it is without value. I never said I made it all up. I'm saying the feminist part of my beliefs encompasses a part of my egalitarian bel…

Absolutely true of both yes, and unfortunately it pulls the spotlight from important issues to petty "girls r cool, boys drool" shit. #KillAllMen #MenAreGarbage ect. scream this kind of sexual frustration to me. Same thing with the MGTOW stuff, a bunch of it makes sense but then it's executed and it's like "WOMEN ARE ALL WHORES" and it's like yikes dude.

Parenting rights and issues are something that I 100% agree is the largest issue in North American Men's Rights right now, you will receive no argument from me on that front, but it doesn't negate the fact that women should be able to choose to have an abortion if they want to. I feel like the women's issue of illegal abortions has nothing to do with the men's rights issue, and my personal opinion is if the man gets no say in if an abortion will take place (and he shouldn't) he should be able to…

That's not just "no true Scotsman". That's delusional self deception. That's what you are doing man, not me, I acknowledged in my posts that feminists can be sexist. But I won't take responsibility for the shitty actions of others. Sounds like you don't want me to be the representative of feminism, but you should, for all the reasons you outlined. They're here, in this subreddit. I don't know that they have specific nomenclature or are a separate organization as I don't really believe gender rights movements are as organized as that. There are MRAs that make comments like, women only care about money and their upvotes are in the hundreds. It doesn't have to be "that men do" abortion rights seem to be threatened at every 2nd state wide, or provincial election. I know there are some mixed feelings on the whole #MeToo movement but the new reality where people are less ashamed to call out their accusers has done good things for men and women, look at the Terry Crews stuff! Or even more recently the callout of female abuser Asia Argento. Or even the backlash from the falsely accused Jeremy Piven. I get the whole #MeToo thing is heavy …

There is also very popular sexist rhetoric that happens in /r/mensrights. I'm personally able to isolate that and still recognize men's rights issues and understand both people who harbour those feelings and people who do not have a lot of the same problems and they are important to tackle despite some MRAs being shitty.
/r/MensRights22/08/18 02:51 PM

That seems a little anecdotal so, I can't really explain why that is consistently happening to you? I am a feminist and an egalitarian, not every feminist is both, some feminists are shitty and are just feminist and don't care about the other gender at all. That's the thing about feminism, it doesn't really specify a belief set about men at all, that's up to the individual. Just as some MRAs are sexist and some care deeply about the welfare of women, it really shouldn't correlate very heavily re…

THERE IS an imbalance in favour of men FOR SOME THINGS, just as there is one for women FOR SOME THINGS. Identifying these imbalances on both sides is egalitarianism, but it is okay to work on just the ones that effect you; you're of no obligation to petition for anything if you choose to not. I personally like to stay aware of issues presented to men as a woman, maybe because they have effected me in the past, but to assume everyone should know your plight without any acknowledgment of women's i…

I guess it depends on the context, but I prefer open-minded people over people who are intolerant of differing opinions. Usually if you're a fat woman who can't get with a guy it has more to do with also being socially inept. Lots of fat guys and gals out there that are cool with pairing off, or the rarer but still out there thin "chubby chasers". The real issue is having a high body weight in combination with hygiene issues, social problems (including unrealistic standards) ect. Same with guys.

There have always been stipulations like this in Canadian court as far as I'm aware. My mom and Dad divorced when I was 2 and she wanted to leave the city they both lived in but legally couldn't move me away from my dad unless she could prove it was for a considerably better career opportunity. I am 23 now.

I think that might be true for some people but most people don't like being fat, like barely anyone likes being fat. I always thought it was better for these people to not hate themselves so they can improve vs. Self loathing making them continue eating themselves to death. I don't think society telling them they're gross is helping, being fat makes you feel gross. The point is constantly making you feel bad about yourself doesn't generally motivate you.

I've personally been banned from /r/feminism, my comments that I was banned for were upvoted and the person who was disparaging men was downvoted. The community is fine imo just a couple mods that might have more radical views I think. I am a woman, they claimed I was a troll and I coment on MRA too much for that to be true. Almost all my comments on MRA are about not attributing random mens rights issues to feminists and defending feminism in general.

I agree with u man, I also think waiting on conservatives changing their minds on enforcing parental values to women and working values to men as an ideology might take longer to change than liberal's but that's just my two cents.
/r/MensRights27/03/18 06:08 PM

Why do you have to attribute everything to feminism man. That's not what this is about at all. This is the prime men's rights issue, the one I follow this sub for anyway. The woman wasn't a feminist, she had a "'longstanding and chronic' history of mental ill health." And therefore was an unfit mother and should have been a no brainer to give custody to the dad and yet it wasn't. The issue was father's need to have equal consideration as parents in custody battles.

Although I found the delivery of this proposal cut-and-dry sexist, I think their idea was to veer away from organized charities because of the recent scandals from Oxfam and Save the Children. The article also seemed to imply to me that people within these charities were abusing their ability to give out aid for sexual favors and the green party took issue with the power dynamic there which is probably why they made it a gendered issue (although, I agree, not what they should have done).
/r/MensRights05/03/18 05:41 AM

So Men's rights should only be for men? I'm not trying to shit on you personally but I doubt MRAs would not accept the support of women unless they are just sexists in the first place.

Well I originally asked "What makes you say they've probably never worked a day in their life?" to a comment that was made prior to the reveal that it was a highschool. Why not focus on male issues and draw attention to them like the Campaign Against Living Miserably instead of trying to tear away at a women's rights movement? There are gender issues on both sides and one is not more important than the other, if you think it is, that's not advocating men's rights, that's sexism and should be taken somewhere else. edit: brutal formatting and missing words.

They talk about them as though it's a conspiracy to keep women sexualized by men even though there is a huge majority of gamers being silenced. As though video companies care more about maintaining this conspiracy than they do about profits. Every time someone opens their stupid retard mouth about video games I kindly remind them that their personal op…

I agree with this, I disagree with a lot of shit posted here but women are taken less seriously when they commit sexual assault, they are seen as more harmless. Men are almost always treated severely when committing any kind of sexual assault. That's true, I'm not saying all women are sexual assaulting, violent freaks, but I'm going to say there ends up being a lot more repeat offenders when nothing is done about it as often is the case for these women. People get the impression men are some ter…

Yeah I understood what you originally said smart guy. It is completely relevant and parallel. Comparing how women are treated as the ones assaulting vs when they assault is the reason this whole issue is an MRA one. It's a total parallel because women attacking are taken much less seriously than men. Is that clearer for you now? I know I may have used too small of words for your complex brain to handle but I think that explanation might be sufficient for you.

That's actually a great analogy. Because they appear to be more harmless they are taken less seriously and act out more often, big scary dogs are treated differently and get away with less shit so they are often better trained and act out less. When a girl attacks a guy she's a lot less likely to get put down.

The guy isn't very progressive with women's rights if he follows the bible at all, which I think we can assume, since he is the pope, he does. Here are some quotes for people who haven't ever been too avidly into the bible to highlight some of their core beliefs. Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was d…

Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control. -Timothy 2:11-15 Yeah you're cool.

the fact that men were REQUIRED to be the sole providers for their families for the majority of history invalidates the feminist argument that somehow women have been 'oppressed' from the work force I like to work, some people do, some don't, it's oppression for society to think that men should always provide for their families just as it is oppression against women to not be treated with respect in the workforce which thankfully has been in decline on both sides. Feminism does not, and should never, fight to raise women up while putting men down. It aims to make us all equal, in all aspects of life. In this specific account the feminist is saying that it is wrong that the woman will get off easy because she is a woman and that is wrong. So right in this specific instance that's not true. There is a lot of generalizing about feminists coming out of here unsourced and picking out the worst possible feminists to account for them all. This is just as easily done about men's rights activists and is really childish and inaccurate.

No for sure this is really messed up and it is a gender-based issue, I don't think there are many people who would argue that, but it isn't one related to feminism. Related to women receiving lighter punishments for men committing the same crimes consistently, yes. Related to women who push for women's rights, no. That isn't a woman's right and any "feminists" pushing for it to continue are not the majority and are pushing away from any type of equality.

Maybe I should elaborate, this kind of joking is the reason why a lot of boys who are taken advantage of by women are said to have "liked it" as if it were even a factor, maybe I'm looking into this little picture too much but I think it discredits the main issue that should be discussed about this article that it does not matter if the boy felt he "liked it" or not it is taking advantage of a child.

The video is proof not just an accusation. (Maybe if you stuck to the real issues in the article instead of relaying everything back to feminism people would not see men's rights as such a joke while there are clearly real issues to be dealt with in the way of men's rights.)

Women do get off more easily, why is that? Maybe "seen as objects" is pushing it but really that they don't know what they're doing or are seen as too frail for harsher punishment ect isn't too far off the marker. "need more feminism" doesn't always mean women need to be treated better, sometimes it just means fairly.

Smith hugged the boy and told him, “I love you, baby. Happy birthday,” according to KHOU. This seems like she had more than just the lapdance happening with this kid

I think lap dances to underage minors have very little to do with feminism. You obviously see success here saying these types of things but I hope for your outside life you do not actually think this way.

I am a girl, I am in computer networking science, I am an extreme minority, but I don't think it's just because I'm a girl per se if you look at the type of people who join these programs (in my experience) it goes beyond just being "male dominated" these are the people who spend all night playing leagues till 3am they watch anime and surf 4chan, not all but a hefty majority, I think it's just the interests of people who get into these fields and women don't often align. That being said I can al…

It's gross how much she was trying to pressure him, and they just without any evidence toss him right in. This is what men's rights should be focusing on all the time, the fact that with any sexual abuse case the woman always gets her way.

I have heard "Because all women are bitches" in my computer networking class where I am the only girl, no expelling but the teacher did say, "hey I don't want to hear that kind of thing" and that was good enough for me.

There are stupid people involved in feminism as well as men's rights. Get off your high horse. This website is obviously wrong, but don't let a stupid article make you think this is the opinion of all (or even most) feminists.

We wouldn't need so many rape poems if budweiser stopped stretching our bodies across a six-pack That's what causes rape TIL Until I can wear whatever the fuck I want without being called a slut Careful- apparently wearing whatever you want can cause rape if you consider Budweiser can models... I hate this video so much

like fag in some cases to shield their embarrassment SOME of them MAYBE, but it's not unheard of for men to do similar things to women (prude). Maybe I'm out of place as a girl on here, but I'm just saying it goes both ways, stay open minded man.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
