1	cold feet? I use FOMO- “fear of missing out.” I share with her my plan for the evening alone and casually invite her along. When she declines it’s no longer a rejection but rather a refusal so neither of us are placed in an awkward state. Plus, if someone is interested in me then I’ll know because they’ll want to be present with me. Another thing I do is I say “I have a gift for you”.
