He was probably jealous. He completely disregarded your accomplishment and wait straight to trying to dominate. Ugh.

This is great advice. Why would you want to attract someone who wouldn't date you if you didn't wear makeup or made yourself look a certain way? It shows they are shallow and will probably lose interest when you are older and look different.

Why are we even talking about this sub on here or linking to it or giving it the time of day? Why are we going out looking for subs like that in the first place or bringing attention to them?

I wish more mothers taught their boys that yes they love them unconditionally but that love can't and shouldn't be taken without reciprocation. Unfortunately many mom's think that teaching a kid how to reciprocate love and affection is a kin to telling them they aren't loved unconditionally which is a bullshit concept all it's own. Sure love would still be there even if you are a jerk to the person who loves you if they truly love you for who you are. But a relationship and romance aren't going …

You don't stop hoping. Hope is a good thing, it means you know what you want, you believe it exists and that you deserve it. Keep hoping. Hoping is not the same as expecting. Hoping is not the same as hunting. If your expectation is that the next guy you talk to could be the one then of course you are going to be disappointed when he isn't. So don't date until you can honestly you are not going to be discouraged or negatively affected if it doesn't work out. Why put yourself through that? Chance…

I kinda have to object to the "dump his ass " tag. She did. He is fucking nuts. We have to be compassionate towards those who are trapped. There really are women out there who will be beaten or murdered if they try to leave. It's not fair to say they should just leave...they can't. The way I explained it to my sister when we were discussing someone we know who is trapped and in denial. Yes she is responsible for getting herself out... that doesn't mean she is capable. You may dig yourself into a…

Not only are some things needed, but when it comes to showing appreciation gifts (things) have their own place in a relationship. It's something concrete that you can look onto when the person isn't there. A reminder they thought of you and appreciate you. Even if the thing is a card or a keychain (low monetary value) the sentiment or effort behind it make it a symbol of the bond. It's why we give gifts on birthdays and Christmas and mother's day etc. Gifts have meaning and are essential to lovi…

I think this can really be applied to more than just money. With everything that's on our plate how can we have time to "be in love" with someone who doesn't take some of that off our plate to start with. Like are you going to clean my house or hire a maid so I have the time for date night? Cause my schedule is full. Are you going to fold and put the laundry away? I would say that before I definitely had no problem making room in my life for lvm. After finding this sub and a serious reality chec…

https://youtu.be/ZdlDLIILjls If you watch that and think how can someone go through all that and not get the hint he isn't into you. The answer is I'm just stupid and want to see the positive. There were times I definitely felt like he hated me but I didn't want to let myself believe it because it just doesn't make sense in my head how someone can just hate someone but just like pretend to get sex? I couldn't make sense of it And I didn't want it to be real.

I finally came face to face with the reality that this was what was actually going on with my ex. And I have to say things were a lot less painful before. He behaved so well at times I just couldn't entertain the idea that he was just trying to get sex. No way I thought since I was the one who intiated contact... But he was always cold and neglectful outside of bed. Not one romantic word. Passive agressive, cold, stonewalling. But he would take me out to dinner, spend time with me, offer to help…

I had an abusive mother growing up. (No mystery here why I need fds) and I have come to terms with it. It's just part of what made me me, I feel like I am still healing yes, but I've forgiven and I don't hate her. I don't have any qualms about talking about it because I'm done being ashamed of the abuse. It's not something I should be ashamed of, I was a child, she should be ashamed. With that being said I can see that some men would take that as a red flag thinking there would be damage there. …

Same. Wrote a letter to my ex to let out all my anger. Not going to send it. He didn't care then, he doesn't care now. If he cared he would ask, if he was sorry he would say it. I don't need him to heal. My anger is mine to work through.

Made my valentine a vday card and fuzzy googly eyed craft because I know he is into cute things like that. I placed both by her bed with a red rose in vase. She had a lot of fun playing scavenger hunt to track down where in the house I left her surprise when she came home. Then I took her out for her favorite dinner. I got a " This was the best Valentine's day ever mom you are going to be my valentine every year" Yes. Yes I am.

No It's NOT. I think she is reading way too much into it. I have contacts in my phone two decades old because in just sync my list when I get a new phone. It has nothing to do with actually reaching out to them. Also for any one with a common name I've learned to put last name or if I don't know last name the way I know them. No one says you has to but ALOT of men on dating apps use them strictly for sex. And have zero interest in a relationship. So you put forth all that time and effort wedding out people through chat and still end up putting forth time and effort to go on a date with someone who expects sex cause they payed for dinner. I'm not saying giving someone 20 chances is the answer...but dating 20 people just cause they asked you out isn't really a good alternative either.

So many fucking arguments advocating dehumanizing sex. "Every guy does it" No. Stop trying to make yourself feel better by trying to normalize it. "testing" is a sign of a person who is insecure doesn't trust you and doesn't want to put in the real work to get to know you and find out if you are worthy the honest way. This guy probably has never read the book (or any book since he left school) and just Googled what are love languages and skimmed the blurb. "Touch? Oh yeah I like to touch" No fucking clue that it's just as much if not more about showing love than receiving it. I guranntee you most men who say their love language is touch can't think of 5 ways to show love through touch that isn't sexual or intended to lead to sex. Smh.

This mentality, the fact that he is equating gifts with materialism or gold digging and is trying to shame her out of her love language just screams stingy.

But that is the point of a profile right? To introduce yourself and sort out major incompatibility. The fact that they are reading it is enough to establish interest. You shouldn't already be invested in the person before you find out that they need words of affirmation and you are not really into that. I think if more people discussed love languages outside of marriage counseling the world would be a better place. Friendships and family relationships included.

I actually think it's great to put it in there for this very reason. I hadn't thought to put my love language in a bio before but if I ever go back to OLD I absolutely will. Here is why: I want to weed out anyone who doesn't understand what I need or isn't willing/able to give it. I am one of those people whos #1 language is gifts both in showing love and receiving. It means defending his bad behaviors. I used to do this all the time. My friend would question something and there I would be advocating for his stonewalling ass. LMAO he agrees she was a great friend and is a good person and HE is the one pissed when she tries to keep that friendship alive despite his tantrum. JFC she is way better off without him. I get not being able to stay friends with someone you have feelings for, you need distance to get over it. But you can't get mad at the person for not liking that you aren't being a good friend in return after they were there for you. LMAO "she is the one throwing it away" but he is the one who doesn't want to…

He said he couldn't afford it.i put him on my dental insurance because he wasn't working. He still didn't get the work done!! When we got divorced he got pissed that I took him off my dental plan because " he was finally going to get it done" sure you were buddy. Sure you were.

So assuming this is a legitimate question, the answer is I want him to be the best father possible for the child we already have. I have no delusions that he will somehow become an ideal mate or that I can fix the emotional problems he obviously has from childhood but if I can help him be even a little more emotional intelligent in a way that will benefit his relationships with our child I am going to try. Yes I am aware that means making him a better person for the rando he will ultimately end …

Hard no. Even before I knew anything about fds. Even when I was making just about every other mistake. Their silence is the closure. Missing them and telling them they are missed do not have to go hand in hand. Saying "miss you" should only ever be said in the context of an already open dialogue. Like they're on trip for a few weeks but you talk at night. Not we had our last conversation 6 months ago and you never responded.

Committed long term relationship only. That was a rule even before I found this sub a few days ago. Love isn't something to be taken or spoken of lightly as it waters down the emotion that is behind real feelings of love. Whats more, it's one thing to feel love inside of you, it becomes something different once you tell the person about it. Making them aware of it can go so many different ways even if they feel it also. How they take it and react to it can change the dynamic for better or worse …

Exactly this. If you are making less than a livable wage for your city you don't need to be dating. What happens if you get serious with that person and they want kids? You can't properly raise a kid in a big city on 40k.

No Im not advertising that they're great if you don't want. I've definitely been pressured to do it by trash men when I didn't want to. I am just answering OP's question about why someone might want to do it wilingly even though it seemingly is of no benefit for the "giver". You should totes get a new therapist though that's some victim gaslighting shit right there.

I've given them without being asked because I've gotten the urge to. Maybe it's an oral fixation thing? But I suppose you kind of have to look at like any other sex act, just because it's not pleasurable for you doesn't mean the next person isn't gonna get something from it. Without getting explicit I can only say for me atleast BJ's have can have an allure if I'm in the mood. In that context is not really a service as in a transactional act. Its an experience, albeit a very intimate one. If you…

When I asked to work on the relationship and clarification of what he wanted long term my co-parent said "I don't think we should date.... right now" LMFAO I think he thinks there's going to be a later? That or he said it hoping I would think there's a later and wait around for him. Either way fuck his later. Fuck all of their laters.

I was thinking "you moving out would be the best thing for this poor woman" But I bet he is instead going to stay there and find some way of making her miserable because he believes she is responsible for his feelings. She flat out told him no and he is still all "I feel betrayed" wtf.

Same. Two days on here for me, and while I have found maybe one or two posts that seemed a little toxic/ unfair, pretty much everything else is just ugly truth. I realize I've been making my own shitty bed with my choices in men. Crazy how some women were just walking around knowing not every man is high value just because they exist. Somehow I had missed the memo. I've definitely struggled with my self esteem but putting some of my past situationships in the light of this sub has definitely put…

I read somewhere on Reddit comments once " you can't love someone into loving you" it was the wake up call / slap in the face I needed. Because even though I told myself I wasn't going to change to try and get him to love me I had certainly tried to love him into it. Like I really thought if I was understanding and created a safe and loving environment somehow that was going to change his mind. Now saying it out loud I realize how delusional I was. Sigh.

You are so lucky to have gotten advice on dating from your parent. I just discovered this sub and it's the first time I'm hearing so much of this. Not suprisinly just about every one of my relationships have been exactly what this sub predicts if you don't hold men to certain expectations. I grew up being taught in one way or another that I didn't have the right to have my needs it desires met, so I've bent over backwards for men that didn't respect me. I really wish I had someone in my life to …
