That's not the lesson to get from this. The boy did a good thing, defending someone being victimized. To say he shouldn't risk his life for a female is like saying it's his own fault that he was killed when the fault rests with the killer who acted horrendously.

Oil prices might have gone down but I don't think it's a coincidence that Oil companies have canceled projects after getting a look at the NDP's budget plan, which includes a doubling of carbon taxes. Shell canceled it's Carmon Creek project that already had $2 billion in construction minutes after that budget was revealed.

I would think that if the person knew it was wrong, they can't really claim insanity. As for diminished responsibility, that sounds like the kind of "they were asking for it" that saw Jade Hatt get away with the rape of an 11 year old boy, even after appeals from the boy's mother saw her go back for another round. Considering how the legal system is, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised whether insanity or diminished responsibility was still accepted anyway.

As someone who moved to Alberta 3 years ago to start working in the Oilfields, the NDP is the worst thing to ever happen to the province. Without getting too much into financials, my yearly income in 2015 dropped by almost 20 grand compared to the year prior. I went from working 82 hours a week in 2014 to at one point going 12 weeks between work days in 2015.

I love how in two consecutive paragraphs, he goes from describing them both as two consenting adults, to referring to the girl as a child in the next paragraph. At the time, I suppose the term child could be seen as the need to protect her from the dangerous predator, but now, it more means the childish human being who ruins another person's life for her own.

It seems only responsible for police to be involved in such a serious accusation. Schools will have police investigate anything else, but make special dispensation for rape accusers. Why? So that due process can be skipped in favor of "listen and believe?"

"You have to be a remarkable woman to get to the top. Average men get there all the time." I guess that means a "remarkable" effort from a woman is equivalent to a man's average. The fact that men, on average, work longer hours and take shorter vacations and other forms of leave would seem to back that up somewhat.

Last year they wanted mothers celebrated on father's day and mother's day, this year, they just want it gone entirely. By 2017, mother's day will be a monthly celebration, followed by them looking to ban it due to it reinforcing gender stereotypes.

Life in prison with no parole is actually something I prefer to the death penalty in cases like these. I know it's a drain on tax dollars to keep her alive, but I'd rather she sit and think about what put her there for the rest of her life then get some quick end. The Black Mirror episode "White Bear" had the right idea somewhat on that one.

What I mean to say is that the fact that she lied means that she knew the age of consent laws and willingly circumvented them because she knew the guy wouldn't have slept with her if she were a minor. Such things are a case by case basis, such as when a minor is tried as an adult in extreme cases, but I would like to think that if she had the foresight to lie about her age, she is well aware of what she is doing and taking steps to circumvent it, and shouldn't be protected, at least as much as she is.
