Problem is women lie about birth control and will try to lock down a man by having a child, be it yours or another man's. When that happens, it helps to have medical records of your vasectomy to present in court. Unless you're Mormon or Catholic, or desire a large family, having a kid should be such a big decision for you that you may as well up the cost barrier to entry (i.e. require in vitro fertilization) in order to prevent accidents.

I use the tickle trick. I just ask where they're ticklish. If they tell you, it means you got of enough emotional connection already. Immediately after, you tickle them in that spot. People are ticklish of the unexpected. You can't tickle yourself because you expect it. If you tickle someone and they giggle, it is a sign of bondedness and possible attraction. Complaining implies you are unable to solve your problem yourself and are trying to shirk the responsibility and blame, which makes you weak.
