https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/can-drunk-sex-ever-be-consensual-cbsn-originals/ It's just smart to abide by. You're not the first reddit person I talked about this with, and in my research there's many articles stating that alcohol does/can impair proper consent. Everyone's alcohol tolerance is different, but these articles I'm seeing advice people to firstly not engage with people who they know have been drinking, period. If they don't follow that, then the next piece of advice is for you to …

Consenting is a choice you make without pressure, manipulation, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. I've found this definition on many different sites but here is one site that has it too. https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/relationships/sexual-consent

Actually consent implies the person isn't impaired by drugs or alcohol. If they are getting blacked out drunk, then they aren't in the state of mind to properly consent.

I never said that all. Please don't assume. I was just talking about cooking and that's all.

I was thinking the same thing. And I guess this also means he shouldn’t ever cook for me since I’m not supposed to cook for him?

This is awesome because everyone in your life should have these traits. You, your family, friends, and partner.

I don’t think I really understand. All my friends say I’m a noob and don’t understand what things really mean. So do I know what these mean or no? Does everyone just have a different opinion what these things mean? Everyone is telling me different answers. Are they all right or none at all? I’m not the same person I was months ago. I never called myself a person who’s into bdsm anyway. Sure I used to have a bondage kink but I haven’t thought about that since I broke up with my ex months ago. I d…

I was there too, sister. In the past, I had really low standards cuz I was scared of being called a “gold digger” or something similar. I was the same in other areas too. I would be scared to accept expensive gifts from my parents cuz my dad called me spoiled constantly (funny how he had that view for years and still bought me things when all I asked for was quality time but whatever). But I’ve been to therapy and I’ve been building myself up as the confident, beautiful, and intelligent person I…

Omg I think I saw that clip before. I was so confused as to why he was throwing out their food. At first I thought it was his and the baby mama’s house and the sister lives with them and I thought “I guess it could be ok if he doesn’t want junk food in his house but it’s still rude cuz you’re wasting money.” And then I read a comment that explained more and that’s when I realized he was an ass but I didn’t even know the whole story. He’s a bigger ass than I thought.

To make sure I understand the purpose of this post: you’re saying anything outside of vanilla sex is bad? And what does vanilla sex really mean? I’m clearly a virgin and I don’t watch porn so I think I’m unfamiliar with these terms.

I once met a guy who was engaged to a woman. Part way through their engagement, he was drafted into the army and ended up getting hit by shrapnel and being paralyzed for three years. After a few months of being paralyzed, his fiancé dumped him and married some other guy. I had met the army guy about ten months after he’d gotten his ability to walk back but he was still hung up about hit ex and his sad past. I get it could be traumatic if things happened the way he described but a part of me wond…

Cuz that’s not a 50/50 marriage. What you described was a 70/30 marriage

I feel so ashamed for doing that. It only led to pain and tears from me. In my new phase of dating, I don’t attach myself to men so it’s easier to walk away and I force the man to earn my love and attention. If he can’t give me what I want, then I’m never gonna give what he wants as I walk cuz I know I can find a man who will want to work to earn my affection and keep it. I don’t have time for men who put in no/little effort. I’m a person who puts my all into everything I do and I need a guy who…

I think that many unfair things happen with “couples” who do t even have kids or can’t have kids. It’s just a lot of people are raised wrong.

I love interaction with a guy I’m into. Not being able to hang out because of the quarantine really sucks so the only way I can get a sliver of what I want is through calling for video chat because I need to hear their voice. I tell every guy that I hate texting and if I can’t see them in person I’ll need to talk on the phone. The last guy I blocked made me beg to have him call me because he wouldn’t answer if I called. Luckily my time with him was really short and I blocked him. Now this new gu…

I completely understand. I’m still kinda like that but I don’t let the guys know how I feel. I distanced myself. I kept reminding myself that I don’t owe the guy nothing and if he is a nothing then he isn’t worth my love and affection. I never give anything more than words and if he insists on things being his way even when I’m uncomfortable, I say I won’t be disrespected and I block him. I think I saw a post on here that said I shouldn’t reply and I’m still working on that, but they do get bloc…

I let guys know up front that I’m picky. Where’s a sea of men who would be lucky to have me and so I have the liberty to pick out the people I see worthy of my time. And if I don’t think you’re worthy, blocked. I ain’t got time for games and heartbreaks. I ain’t gonna feel sad that my standards are too high for them. If they can’t handle my standards then they can bye bye 👋

Omg I’m so happy I read this. I had a phone call with a guy and working the first ten minutes he, unprompted, tells me a story of how he was temporarily wheelchair bound and his ex dumped him cuz “she didn’t sign up for it.” The she later got married to some other guy who she was having a baby with. So many red flags with that one conversation and we’ve only talked for a day. I’m glad I have this sub because I just dodged a huge bullet.

I agree that the past can shed light on who the person is. I think an ex shouldn’t be brought up unless the partner asks or if you’re explaining something important. Like if your ex stabbed you and left a scar and your new boo asked where you got the scar from. I think that if I looked more into my ex’s past I would have seen a huge red flag and left the relationship early. He said all his past relationships failed because the girl said he didn’t make time for them. If I had headed the red flag,…

Thanks. I’m new here too. It’s hard to keep believing that you’re not supposed to make the first move when I only get approached my weirdos and guys catcalling. And I dress modestly... so my clothes can’t be attracting them. It’s ok for me to approach guys in a platonic way right? Like if I like their speech they gave for class or they have a cool tattoo?

I guess I can try that. Most of my friends I do know kinda just socialize with a bunch of other girls. And my other friend, I’ll call her Beth... Beth does have male friends but they’re not single.

I see what you mean but that leads me to another problem. I’m shy irl and it’s hard for me to go up to a guy and say hello... my mom kept me in as a child so I never learned to really introduce myself to people. I prefer to just sit in the corner and try to avoid socializing with people. Why’s your advice for me then?

Thank you so much! I have personal experience of what happens if I lower my standards and I never want to go through that again.

omg, I really needed to be reminded of this. My ex was almost everything you listed for a valued woman not to put up with and I, unfortunately, put up with all of this while we were together. I've explained numerous times how I just wanted to talk to him about anything because I enjoyed being with him and how I wanted to play video games with him as a way to relax but he NEVER made time for me. He said he was always busy with work. And then on snapchat I'd see him playing pool with his other fri…

Yeah I don’t get it either. Maybe it’s cuz I wake up randomly throughout the night and struggle to go back to sleep and so I wouldn’t mind getting a text at 2am saying he misses me or something like that. I read some comments and some people interpret it as he’s texting at 2am asking you for sex. But idk why anyone would do that cuz normal people are sleep at that time and who in their right mind would leave their comfortable bed to drive to some dude’s house to fuck that early in the morning?
