What is the foundation of OP's friendship with Jude? What is exchanged between a friendship between two men that is not exchanged between a friendship between a man and a woman? I might just be old, but need more clarification from OP about how he defines friendship to have any thoughts about this.

This is my most common issue with sex with men! The pressure to be a horndog actually gets in the way of many men communicating what they want or need sexually. Men should absolutely tell women if they're giving toothy head or if they just lay around passively, I think one of the reasons that is hard to do is men feel like they have to be soooo excited every time for everything.

I don't think Iran in the 1970s is a suitable parallel to modern day Europe or the US, but interested in hearing more about how you think this could actually happen. For example, what makes you think European women would push for this? Social values aside, it's just not a realistic trajectory for economic reasons. Modern day capitalism thrives on individualism, women having reproductive technology and access to jobs means more individual consumers. Single income nuclear families are harder to ha…

Men as a whole do not want to make this collective shrug for a whole variety of reasons, and many of those reasons are directly and indirectly a result of feminism. Not purple haired SJW Instagram infographic feminism, but the actual societal and social change that has already happened. So no, even if we take your claims that women are fundamentally unable to develop and maintain technology on their own, feminism is not just birth control and dating apps and there is no pulling the plug. Sorry! …

This is a pretty irrational black & white take that is factually incorrect. There are many, many recorded examples of women being crucial participants in the development of many of these technologies. If you had the restraint to at least say something a little more padded like "largely developed by men" you could wiggle around that, but instead you've chosen to rely on hyperbole for exciting writing. There's no point in debating fiction.

I don't think everyone who says "work on yourself" is saying it in the same way, no. There are plenty of women giving shitty or surface-level advice that they haven't thought through and I'm sure there's some truly shallow women that mean "make yourself physically attractive and rich". But this is what the good version of that advice means and what anyone who is actually qualified to give advice/counseling would tell you to do. To clarify: my comment was in response to the part of your post abou…

I get why this advice feels confusing, especially with the no-win response of "it doesn't count if you did self improvement in order to attract a partner". I think a general way to think of it that is more consistent is understanding that "working on yourself" should mean that you have some degree self-fulfillment and self love. Something about your life that brings you joy or satisfaction that is purely your own. The reason that this helps is that people are not attracted to people who seem dee…

Right -- research is frequently funded based on profitability, men's hair loss is very profitable.... But as a woman with stage 4 endometriosis, a disease that affects many many women, I can understand why some women hear about these things and express some resentment. It isn't so much anti-men's health, but male hair loss is just not on the same level as many under-researched women's health issues

Feminism at this point in time is a very fragmented movement -- that word alone does not describe a single unified ideology, it describes a group of ideologies that share an underlying intent to address issues affecting women. Even that part is hard to pin down, just got in an argument with a radical feminist on this subreddit this week because she was upset that I implied that advocating for gendered issues that affect men's well-being is beneficial to women. I'm an outlier as far as being very…

I know that radical feminism is, thanks! I may have used catty language to say it, but I mean it. I'm sorry for implying that you and those aligned with your beliefs should have to support something you view as a men's issue. I referred to isolationist feminism because one of the main reasons I can't get down with radfem ideology because I can't see it actually improving the state of things in a tangible way, but the work and thinking you all do is still valuable. I love radicalism and transgres…

I wish that culturally and societally it was more common/encouraged for single mothers (and people in general) to share households with each other in the absence of existing intergenerational family presence. We fix so many problems when we acknowledge that the nuclear family situation is not so easy to find and maintain nowadays, regardless of how much one might wish it were. Economically this is the only thing that makes sense to me, relationally it seems way more secure. It doesn't exclude lo…

Genuinely sorry and sending care and concern that this has been a part of your life even a single time. If you have access, seek some kind of counseling or support. Therapy isn't the only option, look for men's groups if that's where you feel comfortable. You are experiencing abuse. You don't have to call it that or think about it in that way of that feels weird, but sometimes when it's a woman and it's verbal/emotional abuse rather than physical, it's hard to recognize how damaging it is. Look, this isn't really productive or related to the topic at hand. Do you need me to go back and edit my reply so I specifically excuse radfems from ever advocating for men's rights? You must know that plenty of feminists and even more women in general do not align with your beliefs, or they wouldn't be called "radical". I love men and many other feminists so as well. Most women live lives full of men. If you insist on only speaking in terms of benefits to women, then I'll let you know that yes…

Things that benefit men also benefit women. If you are into radical seperatist feminism, go do your thing but that's not the feminism that I align with. For me, dismantling toxic masculinity in a holistic and truly meaningful way includes many instances of doing "men's work". Much more importantly, circumcision isn't a "men's problem". It's something that affects our *children*. Grow a heart.

I understand your lack of trust for the groups I mentioned, but I promise you that opposition to male genital mutilation is actually one of the rare things that isn't politicized in that way... Mostly just brushed over due to overcompensation while supporting feminism. Yup, this would be a harder question to answer without the "I still get to be myself" part. would be worth it to be a bisexual woman and get to have sex with way more women than I do now. :) On a more serious note -- Some of the treatment is partially a result of how men are raised and socialized and how that affects their perception of treatment and their responses to it. So having all the insight and comfort with emotions from being a women would be a massive leg up. I don't say this to place …

Yea, this is a truly effed up objectively double standard that needs to go asap. Just tossing my support for this in the mix because I think it's something that will change with time given that enough people make enough noise about it. Last time I managed an all-male team, they indeed do a, lot of building and problem solving. Building a lot of shit that didn't need to be built and solving the problems they created for themselves with their incessant over engineering. Genuinely love men for these qualities though!

In good faith asking this -- how can we (both sides of PPD) go about finding more solid evidence to prove the frequency with which this does or does not happen? I respect your observations & reasoning, I've got my own experiences and observations that are in conflict. How do we find a way to frame those against what really is going on? The truth would benefit RP men either way. This topic is a daily debate, would be great to have a more productive and rational discussion!

I don't know if this is something specific to where I grew up (New England) but I've run into bears a handful of times both in suburban areas and on hiking trails. . If I'm alone, I'd pick bear over a man because I'd rather encounter something less intelligent than a human. Bears are scary but you generally just follow protocol and things work out fine. Freakiest times I've had hiking were near Portland OR. A solo man could be a chill hipster or a homeless dude on meth, both look like each other…

Much better advice than one of his peers could give. Time and experience tends to grant a more humble and objective point of view. The real question is whether a 20 year is capable of actually hearing that advice and putting it to use. Life lessons generally have to be learned by living.

Honestly I don't think it's even a matter of dating/sex. People are very connected via avatars and curated media but extremely disconnected as human beings. Glad I've ended up living in NYC where i have regular opportunities to interact and connect with my peers as well as a handful of elderly folks who need a hand with groceries, the weird eastern European tweaker guy who lives down the block, etc. All of these interactions and small movements of connection are what lay the groundwork for meeti…

Been hanging around this sub for a few months trying to understand why this idea is just fully out of reach.... I think it is a generational thing, everyone that grew up with social media and overly functional mobile phones just really doesn't know what you're describing. Relationships aren't so black and white, these problems often don't surface in meaningful ways until well into a relationship. Humans are incredibly good at developing effective coping mechanisms. Coping mechanisms often indirectly soothe and protect an individual by hiding or diverting attention from the actual problem. Of course, same goes for men! Guess I just don't like calling anyone a loser or acting like we all have the choice to engage/not engage with unhealthy dynamics. People are compl…

I have a LOT of thoughts about how insecure women often offload emotional growth and responsibility fully onto men, demanding neverending reassurance and affection as "proof" of a good relationship when in reality, the insecurity and emotional immaturity is within themselves. You can't get angry at a hose for not filling a bucket that has a hole in the bottom, and eventually that water source is going to run dry. I think more people are here out of good faith than it might appear, but it takes a lot to be mature and humble enough to actually translate that into truly open-minded discussion/debate. Definitely some people here that have no interest in convincing/being convinced, but many more who just can't quite see past their own circumstances and biases. I've always gotten a lot out of talking with people I disagree with. I love sex, I see the younger generation really struggling with it... I don't know, just feels satisfying as I drink my coffee to try to help lonely young men see things with a little more nuance. Society is all fucked up and changing rapidly, it makes complete sense that many people are feeling cast aside. I like understanding how and why that happens and when possible, finding common ground instead of pushing people out.

You should take some time to understand how LLM and AI in general works, and more importantly what it is trained on. The old and well known cultural norm of "women and children first" in disaster/crisis situations is a good example of why your prompts will save the woman over the man. You are going to get answers that reflect the words and ideas that already exist. You haven't proven anything, you're just observing a (highly complex and impressive) synthesis of what gets thrown around the most. …

This is a shitty way to treat people. I'm totally down with casual sex, but casual sex should still involve some degree of compassion and care. Someone who misunderstood the trajectory of a hookup doesn't deserve blame and shame.

Yea, we don't disagree on most of this. Guess I just want to point out that the sustainable sexual connection is the harder thing to find. Also worth noting that women, especially younger ones, are notoriously bad at expressing genuine sexual attraction so the bar is really low in a way. What you perceiving as "fuck me now" eyes might just be a learned habit -- so many women develop this performative sexuality that is pretty detached from how they really feel. Women looking to date are going to …

I'm not sure if this stands up in practice. You've mentioned some of these points in your post but I think you're oversimplifying how attraction works, or overlooking the difference between attraction and a high quality and sustainable sex life. Not insane, just different expectations and communication styles. Personally, sharing too much past relationship/hookups/drama on the first and second dates is a red flag for me -- sometimes people overshare as a way to fast forward emotional connection because they are overly dependent on others. But I generally like hearing about potential partners' pasts. Someone who has only negative things to say or speaks flippantly about exes and previous hookups is a bigger red flag for me. You found out…

Sorry to hear you struggle with this as well! I've found that if both people are sufficiently self aware, patient and forgiving, it actually works really well to have shared anxious/neurotic/ocd-leaning traits in a relationship. It's exhausting being in a relationship with someone who doesn't understand what you're going through, especially because with things like neuroticism and anxiety, it's sooo easy to feel like you're letting other people down. It takes a fair amount of emotional maturity …

Not at all. I think most men look more or less alike. Sure, there's some kind of threshold for looks, but most men pass it. My problem is looking for positive signifiers and mutual interests. Most men look alike, gotta talk to them to find out if I'm interested, talking takes effort and its hard for me to pick any given man to get to know when they all seem the same. Being in love is pretty great. I'm actively experimenting with putting my energy into friendships, I've ended up living on the same street as a bunch of friends and think of it kinda like a commune where we provide community and emotional support for each other. That said, people in general don't see actual communal living as an option long term and there are many things I'd like to have that are out of reach or less valuable without the kind of long term commitment that a relationship brings. I'm not a huge fan of traditionalism, I'd say I live most of my life in direct opposition of it --- but you didn't mention very much about getting pregnant and having kids in your post. Of course we can have kids outside of traditionalism, but it gets very complicated when you start trying to balance everything. One thing I miscalculated in my 20s was the amount of time I really needed to decide if a partner was a good man to start a family with. We do have a lot of time, but by delaying and bei…

You kinda sound like my best friend/on and off again FWB over the last 15 years -- he's a self proclaimed "dirty old man" and simply enjoys beautiful women, and having sex with them. He's a great lover, young women love the taboo aspect, I think men like him are doing a gift to younger women! I was 23 the first time we hooked up and he's about 12 years older than me. Just curious, what counts as significantly younger and how old are you if you don't mind sharing? In my late thirties, I think a big part of any age gap controversy is that the definition of what counts as an age gap has changed a lot just in the last 10-15 years. Zoomers have a very different idea of what's "too much" vs me and my peers.

Is that really sad? It might seem sad if you're young, but there are lots of kinds of love. As a woman I think we experience the exciting head over heels romantic love more easily than men because we are raised to feel and show vulnerable emotions... But this love usually isn't what keeps a relationship going. I may be jaded from my various exciting relationships in my 20s, but the love of a man who has slowly opened up and found a home in the heart of a woman is genuine in ways that head over h…

Agree here -- there is a point when empowerment becomes unhealthy hyper independence, not even for some sociopolitical reasons but just because you end up emotionally unavailable and avoidant because of the unending fixation with the self (know your worth/never settle). The standards are too rigid to allow anyone in, and there's an unfortunate side effect on women who do this where they may talk big about "knowing their worth" but ultimately this mindset prevents internal growth because it disal…

I am more concerned with the women who label other women as being a "Pick Me", especially if they are doing so through the lense of feminism. The worst kind of "Pick Me" woman is generally disliked by both men and women because their behaviors and identity is performative and the palpable lack of sincerety generally keeps them from having any kind of large impact on expectations of women as a whole. Same goes for performative male feminists. However, I do take issue with women casting a critical…

Yea, anyone getting the 'ick' (having a sudden lack of attraction due to one event or behavior) should probably slow down and ask themselves if they are truly present and open in relationships. To me, the 'ick' sounds like something that happens because you're attracted to the idealized fantasy version of someone and not the actual person. When that projection flickers and shows something real, that's when the 'ick' happens. People capable of this can appear to be the more enthusiastic partner b…

A couple of my friends awhile back worked as dommes. They didn't do other forms of sex work. Never asked directly, but it seemed understood that the degree of control and distance involved in that kind of sex work is what made them choose it over vanilla escorting or stripping or something. In general with kink there is going to be more formal negotiation and boundary setting. I don't think any of them ever gave oral sex or had intercourse. So yes, I think it does feel a bit safer for many women…

Nah, men in their 30s generally have their shit more together (if one is looking for a relationship) and almost always are better lovers (if one is looking for casual sex).
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/25 10:19 PM

Echoing this anecdata with my own -- SO many men I've known did not have great luck with women in their 20s and then hit their stride in their early 30s. Guess what -- a lot of women in their 20s discover that men in their 30s generally have their shit more together and almost always are better at sex. I stopped dating and fucking men my age when I was 23... Most of em barely had basic hygiene skills and I was tired of the 5 minute jackhammer.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/25 10:18 PM

Oh thank you for writing this, was just getting all wound up wanting to reply to the many people here misusing the term "sexual prime". Impossible to have a debate if the definitions are a mess!!! kinda seems like this idea that sexual satisfaction and functioning are independent of "sexual marketplace value" is out of reach for a lot of men. A flat and sad concept of sex, but that's what it turns into for those who find it out of reach I guess.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/25 10:13 PM

Again, a person's "sexual prime" is understood to be a period of time in which your sexual functioning is at a peak. This is defined by increased libido, ease of orgasm, quality of orgasm and general enjoyment of sexual activities. All things easily achievable via masturbation. In my 20s, I had frequent opportunities to have sex. The sex I had was alright, often not that great. In my 30s... well, I have more sex now but we can take that as an exception for the sake of discussion -- I'm sure a pi…

/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/25 05:24 PM

Being sexually desired by other people is not equivalent to a "sexual prime". I think you're gonna waste a lot of time arguing these points if you don't get your definitions straight. You can be in your a sexual prime without having sex with another person!

For those of us who are over the age of 30, I think it has to do with already having to grapple with the reality that aging has happened, is happening and will continue to happen. Relationships don't work out, your hair starts looking different, you wonder if you made too many mistakes and are gonna miss your chance at having a biological kid, if that's something one wants. Definitely good points re: how would safety be handled, interesting to think about the ideal and compare it to practices where prostitution has been legalized. And agree that this is a complicated topic, it would take days just to organize where the points of disagreement are. There's the pragmatic question of how do we best serve the people who are in the most vulnerable position which we'd like to think could be discussed objectively... But that question almost immediately intersects with ethi…

I do not disagree with these statistics, I'm an advocate for legalization and regulation. If sex work is treated as real work, sex workers receive increased protection from exploitation and violence as any other member of the work force does. It's a radical concept to envision, but it's not impossible. Of course there are many people with childhood trauma in prostitution. Generally "real jobs" are much harder to access when your life is in shambles. Make prostitution a real job.

Of course it's not black and white, but I'm not wrong. Trafficking exists but happy prostitutes also exist. I'm sure this varies widely depending on location/culture/legality. Pay up for an established escort in NYC and you'll meet all kinds of women who've made the choice to get into sex work, they're making money and often feel a greater sense of agency than the rest of us do working a "normal" job. Legalizing and regulating sex work addresses many if not most of the issues you mention. But, I…

Hiring escorts is not at all unethical, not innately at least. There will be plenty of neoliberal Hilary clinton brand feminists who insist that sex work is essentially rape either by some perversion of the definition of consent or because they believe sex trafficking is the only reason that sex work exists. There are many others who want you to know that sex work is alive and well and full of happily employed men and women who would love your business so long as you are kind and respectful.

Just wanna hop on as a not Red Pill woman and back up this call out. As long as one has taken proper precautions and been tested for STDs, this is part of one's personal and private sex life. If I as a woman had some completely wild fetish I engaged in privately, as long as it wasn't endangering anyone else, no one would ever suggest that I was obligated to share that with future partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/25 12:47 AM

All of this is fine, but expectations vary widely amongst women and likewise some men innately notice this stuff and some don't. I've had long term relationships in which my boyfriend wouldn't notice if I'd just gotten bangs unless I pointed it out to them. Others would notice if I put extra effort into my brows and compliment me. I enjoy looking good, I enjoy compliments but I don't expect them. Just saying that in healthy relationships it is crucial that partners are able to communicate things…

Uhhh it isn't obvious at all. Didn't we just have a thread last week about whether women look good for men or themselves? We're all over the place in terms of what going to the hair salon means to us. My main point still stands, if this couple can't voice their needs more directly then sounds miserable to get in trouble for something like this.

Don't put more effort looking for hints, that's a slippery slope to walking on eggshells and the kind of subtle unintentional emotional abuse that eventually ruins people. I think the dishes thing is easy -- she wants you to take initiative on chores, that's fair. But you deserve to be met halfway and that means she acknowledges the effort that you DO make and doesn't insist on mind reading. Have a conversation, try to get to the root needs that aren't being met (on both sides!!!) If you guys ca…

It's extremely nuanced but in general, more direct communication is better. The problem that becomes apparent as you get older is that many people aren't fully aware of what they actually feel or need, so you get a bunch of anxiously attached women "communicating directly" that they expect 9000 different acts affection and words of commitment and avoidant men who say they don't need much at all beyond sex and space to do their own thing and both people end up unfulfilled and frustrated! Knowing …

Same here, this post is not wrong but from where I'm standing, everyone on all sides needs more empathy and men in particular are lacking in the kind of self-compassion that leads one away from the "choose better" mindset. And self compassion certainly doesn't grow out being told men should double check to make sure they are being as hard on themselves as they are on women.

You can be perfectly "logical" within the domain of your own beliefs and presumptions, but if you don't identify those internal biases and check for correctness then that logic doesn't operate so well outside of domain. No need to turn away from logic, but the best advice to men would be to identify and correct internal logical oversights and expand the domain in which your reasoning is sound as much as possible. Takes a lot of maturity to do this, but the best way is start assuming you are wron…

I don't think you are actually disagreeing with the comment you responded to unless I'm misreading something? Being fit increases your confidence. Many women here frequently suggest that we are drawn to that confidence and probably a few other qualities that physical fitness signals, but the actual visual impact of having muscles isn't the most important factor. Being fit suggests someone values their health and wellbeing and implies they have enough self-discipline to maintain a routine. Conver…

This is kinda useless speculation. I don't care which pill posts it and how the genders are configured, some of you need to push a little further!! My response based on personal anecdata: it isn't so much that men overestimate their attraction, it's just the rubric they use to determine attractiveness in themselves and other men is not the same one women use. You do realize the phrase "male gaze" does not literally mean "when men are looking at something" right?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/09/25 09:58 PM

There's a difference between dressing specifically to gain attention from men and dressing to "look good"/"feel sexy" in which "looking good" is heavily influenced by a women's internalized male gaze. The male gaze has a huge influence on beauty standards and fashion. It is more of a cultural/societal force than a reflection of a desire to look good for men.

Your post contains a more nuanced question but the title asks " Why do men hate sluts instead of feeling neutral" so maybe tweak the most important part for clarity! :) Edit: just a little more feedback from a neutral logic/debate angle: You also present the assumption "men hate sluts because it is easier for women to get sex" and I think the replies so far are showing that might be a better place to start. Or, you could request responses from men who agree with that assumption.

I really wish someone would set up a survey so we could all get on the same page. Go through a set of profiles, rate each one on attraction as either a woman yourself or your best guess as a man. Maybe a ranking/comparitive section too. A second exercise grouping similar men. High sex drive doesn't necessarily correlate with being tormented by lack of sex. Someone replied to me yesterday something about how men may get more emotional connection, confidence and generally feeling successful in life through sex. Ok infinite dark void pill -- you can have your traditions and I can have my weird life. Transgressive outliers are responsible for new ideas and questioning the status quo. I don't know if it even really needs to be broken down this much. Anyone (male or female) who has been through an unhealthy or abusive relationship will understand -- we're all driven by reward systems and intermittent reinforcement is the easiest way to get hooked on anything. Agree with the title of this post, but your statement that men have an insatiable hunger for sex isn't true and isn't really helpful for anyone. Red pill sometimes implies this too and I think it's damaging for the men who subscribe to those ideas. Sorry for derailing but I'm also still confused why these elusive dating app statistics are used so frequently? It's the fast food of human interaction, I understand why people do it -- it's easier to engage in than going out into the world -- but it sucks. It clearly sucks for men, as a woman I can give my anecdata to confirm I do indeed reject almost everyone when I've tried it. Since it doesn't work, why are we obsessed with it?

It takes a solid 2 years to actually know someone, and the younger you are the more likely both of you have changed. Butterflies are exciting and part of one type of love, but have very little to do with who you'll be happy with down the road. I think the entire reason the red pill exists is because society has been in a state of flux for decades precisely because women don't need men to protect them. The institutions that give our society order and structure may have been founded by men and largely run and executed by men, but these structures exist independently. There is no Handmaidens Tale coup on the horizon that's going to change that so radically. Things like restricting access to abortion are done as mostly political moves to …

I think you need to lay out the groundwork that shows "women expect autistic men to mask" in a way that goes beyond the how standard neurotypical people do this implicitly by not understanding autism. Without that, feels more like projection of the pressure anyone with autism feels to mask because of societal norms. I say this not as a dismissal, but as someone deeply sympathetic to how you feel. I think these feelings are very valid, but I need to be convinced of the cause and effect.

I think you gotta readjust the metric to allow for multiple prime phases for various outcomes. What you wrote about might be one "prime" phase for men who are looking to get hitched and start a family on the earlier side, following the boomer timeline more or less. However, pretty much everyone in their 30s that didn't take that path will tell you that there is a second peak in the late twenties/early thirties with men. I truly have a deep love for men and sympathy for their unique plight, so this is a nice question to answer. Men get dealt a rough hand from society that often results in them experiencing an enormous amount of internalized pressure to "perform" in various ways. Kindness coming from a man who doesn't love and respect himself often doesn't feel like kindness -- it feels like the foundation of an unhealthy potentially codependent relationship.
