I hope with all my heart that you will never learn from experience how truly wrong you are.

I would suggest reading the book The Erotic Mind. Go exercise, of course, but if you understand your mind and your sexuality, and know that your partner also has an erotic mind, a tight body is just the icing on the cake. My partner and I got together when I was 25 pounds heavier - didn’t stop him or me. I do feel more confident with myself now though.

Whatever you do - do it gradually, be true to yourself, and make it sustainable. Start with essentials first. Shower every day even if you don’t wash your hair. Basic skincare. Go for a leisurely walk in the mornings. Start eating your “five a day” fruits and veggies and make them things you like. Stay away from alcohol. And add like one thing to your beauty routine that makes you feel pretty. I left a toxic firm about a year ago and this helped me feel like a human being again. As for your boyf…

I find that my education and experience (multilingual, master’s degree, relatively high earner for my age) makes me intellectually compatible with my HVM. It also makes me someone he can (and does) take to work functions where he’s the most senior person around - as he’s 25 years older than me, my experience makes it clear that I’m not a piece of tail, but his partner, who just happens to be younger. I do really well at these kinds of functions talking to his peers and he tells me so.

Late twenties dating a man 25 years older. He is so ambitious yet even-keeled - nothing fazes him. We have a lot of similar experiences so there’s a basis of understanding and mutual respect, but I just admire the hell out of him. It’s the first time I’ve looked to the man I’m dating as an example. He’s a wonderful father to two elementary-school-aged children. Still vetting him but if it works out I will not hesitate to start a family with him.

Is your husband someone who likes simple fare? My boyfriend is definitely that way. How do you plan your meals out? Like is he someone who would be happy with a homemade pasta dish or a pizza?

I love you too. You’re going to be okay. It won’t feel like it at first, but everything you do for your well-being is going to snowball and one day you will say, “goddamn, I’m alive and thriving.” Word of advice, from experience: listening too much to manosphere red-pill nonsense is not healthy for us. When we heal ourselves deeply, respect ourselves, and are in alignment with our feminine selves, that’s what makes us high-value. Not how naive you are or how few men you’ve slept with. I stayed w…

Honey, what happened to you was not your fault. You were sexually abused, and sleeping around at a young age may have been a reaction to that. You know now what your values are around sex and you are acting accordingly. Of course a man will love you. If someone ever uses the abuse against you, turn on your heel and walk out. Someone who truly loves you will want to understand you. You forgive yourself by deeply understanding why and how you dealt with the pain that was so unfairly inflicted upon…

That’s going to be a question for a skilled hairstylist. Some women have the bone structure to look like Audrey Hepburn with very short hair, others are better off with long layers. Completely depends on the woman. Talk to your stylist about your bone structure and what you can afford to spend (time and money) on maintenance. A well-cared-for lob will make you look more feminine than messy waist-length hair. I got fooled by the RP male preference of waist-length hair and found myself looking lik…

If you consider what the average “college girl” looks and behaves like these days, most of them aren’t competition for a RPW who takes care of herself.

You’re good, I don’t feel that you invalidated my experience, and validation is not what I’m after anyway. “Age gaps are ripe with opportunities for abuse” is just such a tired argument. If anything, the age gap made me vet my SO much more carefully. I’m surprised the sun didn’t catch the magnifying glass I was scrutinizing him under, and singe the edge of his shirt.

Ok, having been in a terribly abusive marriage like the one OP described, with a man my age, and then having been in the best and most respectful relationship of my life with a man older than me, the age gap has nothing to do with it. An abusive man is an abusive man. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
