Finally someone who agrees with me! Is this sub filled with RP's? Although I don't think marriage is unwinnable. You don't think two people can live happily/peacefully for many years? That's kind of sad. :(

Eh, we both have different ideas of why a correlation exists. That's where it's coming down to. If you agree that it's socially less acceptable for women to have as much sex as men then you're part of the mentality that I believe is the reason for these results. Since you don't agree with the religious/conservative thing, you have a different view. Since I don't think you're going to change your mind, there's really no point to the rest of this discussion.

But I'm sure divorce was the better option for their failing marriage rather than stay married and unhappy for the rest of their life. Obviously in not including cases where one party or the other was manipulative or greedy during the divorce.

I have standards, but they're mostly in respect to personality and a few for looks as well. Number of sexual partners isn't a good thing to judge someone on

That metaphor makes no sense.

Isn't the discussion about 'how many sexual partners makes a female unattractive for marriage'? My view point is that it shouldn't matter, regardless of the study being discussed, and I happened to explain the reason why I think the study is coming to the wrong conclusion.

I'm sorry you don't see women as people and instead as an average.

Not necessarily. Maybe she reconsidered her previous relationships and wanted to try something different. Maybe it was casual sex for those previous people and now she wants something serious. I don't think your conclusion is logical, even though this situation is a bit ridiculous.

I think that conclusion is a bit of a stretch. And like I've explained in other comments, there are many reasons that could cause that correlation other than the idea that sex mentally destroys women.

I don't think this will be the case, but whatever.

I explained this in the edit. Since women with few sexual partners is largely due to social stigma that comes from a conservative/religious environment they also will feel pressure to stay married in a shitty marriage instead of divorcing. Bad marriages could also occur because of the social stigma against women being in control of their own sexuality. Which means it's also biased on the other side as well. If the woman has a lot of sex then the man is trained to dislike that fact, which leads t…

They really won't show up on any tests? I assume I'll know once I get the test results back. Also if nothing has shown up after 3-4 years then I'd be surprised. But I don't know too much about STDs, tbh.

STDs I would hope against, but I would know if she had any by the time we decide to get married.

And I don't see a reason why that number matters.

400 is certainly excessive! I think that would be a very interesting conversation, but no reason to break up with her. Seriously though, 400? I don't even think most porn stars have that many.

Once I find someone good enough to marry, I assume that they won't be the type to be an asshole about wealth and possessions during divorce. Edit: Is there a study that says more partners means that less oxytocin is released in subsequent relationships? I haven't heard the oxytocin argument. on the female side Are you saying it's not the religion thing because both men and women are religious? Women's sexuality is much more stigmatized and controlled by societal standards than men's (expecially …

I wouldn't care. The number of partners she's had is completely irrelevant to our current relationship. The reason that correlation exists is because women who don't have a lot of partners are probably very religious, which coincides with the belief that you shouldn't divorce either. Just because they aren't divorcing doesn't mean they're happy, I bet many of those relationships just end up being worse. What's wrong with divorce? If you both have moved on and the marriage isn't working out then …

Did you notice the words "could" and "maybe"? All I'm saying is it probably made it much more likely to work, regardless of her initial thoughts.

Yeah, but if he just said that right away then it could have been different. The first part was all about getting it into her habits and making her decide she wanted to stop first. If you just tell someone to stop smoking, will they? No. So maybe that would have happened even if he just started with the text, but she should dump him anyways for referring to her as a plate.

Yes. I agree. Although the psychology of it was a bit interesting, tbh.

If you didn't get it, the point wasn't to stop her from smoking. It was to tie her smoking habits to them having sex, which would achieve two things: 1. More sex 2. She would drive the 20 mins to him, instead of the other way around.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
