I love this! I need to read more of her books! The House of Mirth really touched me. I identified with the main character who couldn’t get with the program and started going down in life. Especially when she got a job as a milliner and couldn’t cut it. There were so few jobs for women back then! What was next, be a maid?

He pretends to be taking responsibility but you can tell by the way he says things like baby trapped that he’s still playing the victim. I hope his ex wife has married a really good man this time. She deserves better than this guy. Also I think it’s great that her parents never gave them a house just rented it to them, less community property for him.

I can relate. I never had plastic surgery but I’ve spent way too much time and energy feeling bad about my weight. I wish I could go back in time to my high school self and say hey, you’re gorgeous! I was normal weight back then but thought I should be twiggy. Every diet I went on led to more weight gain as I bounced back. I’m sorry I wasted mental energy on something so ridiculous.
