Fuck, man! Your ex is even crazier than my wife. I feel for you and your kid(s). With my kid, I "joke" that she's been dying even before being born. Several times during pregnancy my wife would ask me to try and feel the baby's heartbeat because she couldn't feel them moving. After they were born, she keeps finding issues where there are none, to the point that I had to go behind her back to tell our pediatrician that he can't blindly trust what he hears from her, because her reports are (signif…

Dead bedroom She also wants to have stuff done her way. She complaints that there is a lot to do at home, but won't let me help, because I do it wrong (which I don't; I actually do a more thorough job than her; it just takes longer and consumes more resources, like water or electricity). She always gets things her way. She needed a bigger place, we moved to a bigger place. She wanted a car that costed more than we could afford, we got the damn car. She wanted to have a child, we had one. People …

Bro, your wife sounds just like mine. Leave before you have kids! Just like she got the wedding and the house she wanted, with time she'll make you give in and have kids with her. Then it's much harder to leave. That's what happened to me.

That's gaslighting in a nutshell.

I spoke to a coach 3 times, as per suggested by a divorced colleague. According to said colleague, he was worth every penny. Unfortunately I couldn't disagree more. The guy is not a therapist nor a lawyer. He could only give general advice based on experience, most of which was either BS or things I've had already realized on my own. Whenever I need help now, I rather spend my money on a therapist or a lawyer.

Dude, don't be too hard on yourself and don't let people judge you. Of course different people would have acted differently under those circumstances, but you are not them. You're you and you can only do you. As someone who's also in an abusive relationship, I get you. You try to get rid of these lunatics, but they know how to exploit your weaknesses and make you stay. It's takes time and learning (unfortunately through pain) to know how to deal with these people. I'm happy you stood up for your…

If you think something might be toxic, it probably is, and if your wife tries to tell you otherwise, she's probably gaslighting you. I'm married to a woman who I am very positive has Intermittent Explosive Disorder. I can't be a 100% sure, because she refuses to seek treatment. So very often when I complain about something she says I'm too sensitive, that marriage is tough, or tries to downplay something pathologic to just some personality trait. Fuck her! I'm done with the toxicity / disrespect…

Less intellectualy curious 😂😂😂 I'll keep that in mind for when describing my wife.

Being married to someone with mental illness, I can say that not everything is forgetful/forgiveable. I'm sorry to say, but you fucked up big time (like my wife that refuses to seek treatment). It shouldn't take her threatening to leave for you to realize you had a gambling issue (same goes for my wife). Still, good that you realized that. Better late than never. But she's not obliged to forgive you for the mistakes in the past. Own your wrongs and let her go.

For those who are still stuck in a rotten relationship, I'd recommend "be free", from Papa Roach. "I wanna be free From this ball and chain And be free From this life of pain And be free From this ball and chain I wanna be from you"

From LP I'd say "pushing me away". I keep singing to myself "this is the last time I'll take the blame for the sake of being with you". Unfortunately the last time hasn't come for me yet. Hopefully, it'll come soon. Just had another major fight here at home. I'm so done with this fuckin' shit show.

Thank you so very much for your advice! I said that not only she needed treatment, but we also needed couple's counseling, as our communication is broken. I was already looking for a therapist, but now I'll wait for the medication to kick in, as you recommended.

I find myself in a very similar situation, but in my case I believe what my wife has is Intermittent Explosive Disorder. The last time we fought, I left the house and then she admitted she has an anger issue and accepted to seek a psychiatrist. I know the treatment for this kind of disorder is medication + therapy, but she said therapy she won't do. Any advice for me?

I don't know why you got downvoted. Those are good points. OPs wish does sound selfish to me, but I agree with you that are other (better?) questions that need to be asked.

When it's still bright outside, I wear sunglasses, so people can see where I'm looking at or how I'm feeling. Also, have headphones on. Listen to whatever you like or just watch some TV. That's what I do at my company's cafeteria, where pretty much every day I have to have lunch alone, while other people sit in groups. I do me and (try to) not care about what others are thinking.

I'm (still) married, but I get you. When I was single, I've lived in different cities. That means that I was always around different people, and didn't have too many close friends or people to do stuff with. I also never really liked relationships, so even though I would always have flings, I didn't really have a girlfriend (which was fine by me). For a really long time, I'd just stay home alone and be sad that I didn't have friends to do things together, till I realized that I either would eith…

Night club or brothel would be my recommendations.

I used to compare my wife to a teenager. Until we had a kid. Now I see it's even worse! Her behavior is more of a toddler than of a teenager.

No, you shouldn't. You're not missing out on anything, at least nothing good. Fuck your parents and relatives! They won't be the ones who'll have to put up with a fuckin' nag criticizing your every move. (PS: I don't mean to offend your family; I'm saying this more to myself than to you.

After the end of all my relationships, I would always throw away anything that would remind me of them, including deleting every single picture they were in.

This is probably the most stupid thing I have ever heard. My first girlfriend had slept with a ton of men before me. Best sex ever! That woman knew what she was doing! So often I think of her. And after we split, the things I learnt from her I put to good use with a lot of women. If you had any (good) reason to suspect, that's a different story. Or if you live in a small city and everyone is laughing at you behind your back. If not, boy, you screw things up!

I'm married and my wife never takes care of me when I'm sick. She always downplays my symptoms and leave me alone. However, when she is sick, she makes it sound like she has cancer and I have to take care of her, our kid and the house. Being married is no guarantee someone is gonna be there for you ave you need them.

When reading your comment, the first thing that came to my mind was "WE WERE ON A BREAK!" 🤣🤣🤣 (To those wondering, it's a Friends reference) But yeah, if on a break (or being separated, which is the case here), then it's not cheating.

In my town there's a lake. On the day I leave the house, I'm gonna go to the lake and throw that shit as far as I can.

Same here. That's why I say it. She doesn't sound like she would have the intellect to plan such a mischievous scheme, like others are saying. She sounds more a psychiatric patient to me. Which does not change the fact that she's a bitch and you're better off without her. Worse still, nowadays there's no more compulsory patient intake, so you can only hope that one day she comes to this conclusion by herself and seeks treatment.

I see a lot of people in here saying she's doing that on purpose, but I have my doubts. From your description, your ex sounds a lot like "someone I know", if you know what I mean. Look into Intermittent Explosive Disorder.

You should check The School of Life, more especially, I would recommend their YouTube channel. Helped me a lot in understanding things like that.
