When did dating become about statistics? Ask that to the guy in the Middle East who died virgin while his next door neighbor had 5 wives.

Sure, the market/entertainment fix is something capitalism is more than willing to provide. And of course, a comprehensive solution would definitely involve structural change. I wonder how much of the sexual and romantic problems we’re seeing are just product of the obscene wealth and opportunity inequality in the world. The thing is that I’m not very optimistic that structural change that will make our lives more communal and less lonely will happen.

Korea is around 0.9, that’s something unprecedented.

I guess the same applies to me. Always trying to learn stuff, get a better job and whatever. Not out of greed or anything, since I don’t care much about the money but rather just in a more interesting place every time. Sure, please do share it with me.

No man, I agree completely. I think having less people overall is a good thing: less workers to be exploited and more resources for each one alive. Having said that, having a low population product of never growing that much is different from going high and then having declining population. The economy breaks product of having too many old people, and businesses and governments going down after being too big. Modern economies are based on debt, and having declining populations most surely causes…

I don't like anime to be honest, I've never watched it and I simply don't feel myself attracted to it. You're right! cons are a great way to reach the final stage with your hobbies. Once you get out of school life becomes way more lonely in my opinion, so that does not school does not apply to me anymore. So you've made a bunch of connections from cons?

I mean, I have my buddies who I talk to. But no one tells me they "appreciate me", that has never been the case for me. You seem to be doing great, that's something you certainly have on your side :) I feel good for you. I also like going out on a good bike ride throughout the city once or twice a week. Yes, I hope thinks will get marginally better going forward.

You're certainly right. Dating is a shitty experience overall due to all the things you mention, no doubt about that. Nevertheless, being lonely is as shitty so ...

Yes, I tend to agree that population decline is a good thing on the whole. Less people means a higher quality of life for everyone (probably just the rich benefit of overpopulation due to lower wages and more clients for their products). I can tell you that Mexico City, where I live, would be a way nicer place to live if the population was a quarter of what it is right now.

No way girls are banging old guys unless they're very successful.

Lol, you're certainly right. We're already in here. Nevertheless, some things can get way worse. We're just starting to see population decline in some places (for example, just this year South Korea saw population decline for the first time), but it will accelerate rapidly in the near/medium term. When China's population, being the biggest economy in the world, starts going downwards rapidly we'll see a big fucking worldwide economic crash.

Certainly. In my opinion, having a family to provide for was the main reason men were able to withstand extremely long hours of boring-ass jobs. No responsibilities, no way people are going to have the life of the old days. Japanese virgins playing videogames all day are the prime example of that.

Yes, you summarized very well, those three scenarios are pretty much the only alternatives. As you, I think 3 is the most likely, then 1 (with low probability, womens rights to date whoever they want are here to stay unless serious societal shifts occur, I think that is a positive thing), and least likely 2.

Yes, I wonder whether incel hate will become so big of a thing as to start to become politically influential. Maybe the rise of right wing extremism is at least in part fuelled by inceldom ...

Yes sorry, It was removed for being "low effort" (the post needed to get ripped I guess lol). Yes to me is indeed sad, but I thinks things like are inevitable, sooner or later that would happen anyway. I try not to get emotionally attached/depressed with the situation.

Nozick's experience machine, sign me up for it!

Even if that happens, one would see ever declining populations that would implode I guess.

The same happens with soap operas and princess movies for women. How many girls do you know who met the richest guy in the country and he instantly fell in love with them and they instantly became billionaires with a luxurious life style? Fantasies seem to me to be part of the same digital substitutes for real interaction in the end.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/20 02:47 AM
1

Yes, you have a point. But in any case that digital interaction is never reaching the real interaction phase and the problem is there isn't it? I mean, I'm not meeting any of you guys, and talking on reddit is no substitute for getting to know you :(

I mean, natural selection tends to be visible only after thousands of years. By that moment hundreds of generation would have lived with no visible social change.

Yes, most of the rich world (and even countries like Brazil and Iran) are already rock bottom in fertility rates. The rich countries of Asia are the one with the lowest numbers.

I do tend to agree that population decline is a good thing on the whole.

Yes, maybe. I guess solitude can affect them in the end too.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/20 02:37 AM

Yes maybe, we will have to see. I don't think most people would have kids out of pure joy. Fertility rates would go rock bottom in a world like that.

Nozick's experience machine of porn? That would definitely be a game changer. People would get as hooked as they do now to heroin.

Yes, thanks for your comment again, mods removed me for being "low effort" (just like it happens on Tinder lol). No way most people will pay for porn, nothing will ever substitute free porn. Yes, Asia is on the forefront of some of those things.

The interesting thing here is that technology will only get better by the day. An even if substitutes are shitty as they're now, people still seem to be using them anyway. My intention is not to judge anyone, of course, but if nobody is forming families and reproducing that spells doom for the economic stability of a country, for example. You need some certain amount of communal bonding and stability for a society to even work.

I mean, I have a bunch of friends I hang out with. My hobbies are mostly solitary things like maths and philosophy. I live with my parents so I hang out with them. I think the pandemic may be a contributing factor in my recent increased loneliness. Maybe I'll feel better once I start hanging out more. Do you have close family and friends? Are you passionate about something?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/20 02:28 AM

The fact that there are countries with declining populations where people are not having kids is as objective truth as one could get, aside from interpretations of that phenomenon.

I'm mexican. So I'm american in that I live in the continent called america. Socially, most southern european countries are in a pretty dire situation. With rock bottom fertility rates, declining and aging populations, no economic prospects and no hope in the future. That's pretty distopian already if you ask me.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/20 02:20 AM

Yes, I think extrapolating from already existing examples of ultra low fertility rate societies like South Korea or Japan can be done relatively safely.

Incel hate is going through the roof. hikkikomori are a common phenomenon in Japan, contributing nothing to society, an economy is not sustainable if people don't work and consume at least a reasonable amount.

Yes probably the rush is great. On the flip side, getting rejected is one of the shitiest feelings I have ever experienced. I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of men just simply stepped out of the game after being rejected a considerable amounts of time

All this debate on whether people men to be touched to be fulfilled in life is somewhat funny. I haven't thought of it to be honest. I don't think primitive humans groomed themselves a lot, at least not men.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/20 02:13 AM

Question for you. Do you think that explanation of the depression coming out of not challenging themselves applies to women too, or only for men?If the answer to the previous question is no, why?Another person who held that opinion was the unabomber. He thought humans made meaning out of challenging themselves and coming out successful. He also thought modern life made that process irrelevant, but thats another topic. I haven't heard of Rogan's theory, but it seems similar to what Peterson advoc…

I fucking wished there was a good and cheap replacement for real interaction to be honest.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/20 02:00 AM

Yes, that is a good point. Nevertheless, being a low quality substitute does not seem to deter people from using porn, onlyfans accounts and videogames so ... will see. Technology is also getting better by the day, so maybe one day a good replacement will appear.

By low value I mean sexually rejected and lonely. The guy interviewed in the article is from a rural area, poor, and disabled, and he claims to be rejected by women right and front even though he works on "making himself better". In the end is it a technical question. Knowing something about the field, at the moment I'm not sure whether modern science will crack how to make a conversational agent that is as good as a human. Probably we will in the no-so-distant future.

Both Japan and South Korea are very interesting experiments where fertility rates are rock bottom and social isolation is sky high. Is definitely interesting to see how that will unfold.

Yes who knows.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/20 01:55 AM

Interesting read too, could definitely happen. The main argument I see against a world like that is that no economy can sustain ever decreasing numbers of people, most businesses will simply disappear if that was the case.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/20 01:54 AM
2

Very interesting read, thanks.I can definitely see a future where a technology like that is used. Counter-intuitively, I think employee satisfaction would increase because all cognitive load on the job would be eliminated. A bunch of expensive sensors would need to be installed throughout the store, though, but not that far-fetched.

Yes, you're right. Nevertheless, the problem is still aggravating. Phones are getting faster, content is getting more addictive, recommendation algorithms are getting better, internet is becoming faster, chatbots are improving. We can still go way further.

I wonder whether the situation with rich asian countries is sustainable. As soon as population starts to collapse and with it the economy, governments will be in serious troubles if some kind of sustainable social structure is not maintained. Will be very interesting to see how all those countries unfold.

subtly Ok, I'll suggest different consequences for people to discuss on the topic. Thanks for the time taken and the suggestions. Appreciate the effort.

I just want to know people's opinion on the phenomenon. I could rephrase it as something like "what do you think will be the long term societal consequences of that becoming ever more common", but it amounts to basically the same thing as just asking their thoughts on the topic ...

How can I repost it so that it is not considered "low effort"? What's exactly the problem with it?

But the job of a man is to prove to a woman, by huge amounts of effort and expenditures that he deserves her. And it is not the other way around.
