Everyone should have whatever standard they want. And, if no one meets your standard, and you're content being single, more power to you. You should be supported for sticking to your principles. Just don't complain about it later, that you can't find a decent man.

Idk, man. I can only speak from my own experience. Lemme preface by saying that on paper, I should be cooked when it comes to dating. I've never used a dating app. I'm in my mid-40's, not rich, not famous, not tall, not white, not jacked, have a pretty bland 9-5, and I'd say that on a good day, I'm only about average looking. Despite those glaring flaws, I have an active dating life, and am still able to date very attractive women (I hate rating people, but let's just say solid 7's and up) who a…

How old are you? Because this sounds like a question only a person who has never been in a loving relationship would ask.

Ok. You're absolutely right. But it changes nothing. There's no such thing as "fair" in dating. So, either pay for the first date or lose your opportunity to a guy who will.

That has not been my experience at all, and I'm in my mid 40's (still pass for being around 30). I find dating women in their 20's much easier simply because there are just so many more of them still available. Finding single, childless women in their 30's and 40's, who have mostly maintained being physically attractive is much more difficult than I anticipated it ever being.

I promise every partner you've ever had has at least a few times imagined someone else while having sex with you. Even if it was just for brief moments.

Not true. I'm about as average as it gets, and I've dated, and still regularly date, very attractive, much younger women. Granted, I look very young for my age, but I've never misrepresented my age to any woman I've dated or hooked up with. In my experience, once a woman, of any age, has become attracted to you, they stop really caring how old or young you are.

Men prefer to do things where the results of their efforts are tangible or quantifiable. Need a house painted or a fence built? Men will happily take that job on. Need a hole dug? Give me a shovel and point the way. But you want us to hang out with a strange, troubled kid, that we have no connection to, other than he got assigned to us, and have to talk with them about their feelings, hopes, and wishes?? Yeah. No thanks. Leave that sensitive stuff to professionals and people who actually enjoy i…

Again, we're not talking exploited peoples. We are talking about informed, consenting individuals making their own decisions. Your presenting a strawman analogy. Your entire premise is, "I think it's icky, so no one should be allowed to do it."

This is not about incels looking to legalize prostitution for their own benefit. This is about consenting adults, men and women, being able to make their own decisions. Even if those decisions conflict with popular morality. You're assuming every person has the same experience and morality as you do about it. We're not talking about people being trafficked, or drug addicts, or people being somehow exploited. We are simply talking about rational, consenting adults. If an informed adult knows all …

I wouldn't know, but my guess is you can't. But that's outside the argument. We're talking about fully aware, fully consenting adults. All the pitfalls and evils that are the result of the criminalization of prostitution are beside the point. If prostitution were legal, it could be made safe, it could be regulated, it could be monitored, it could be taxed, and it could be a viable profession for those willing to do it. And just like anything else, those who find it distasteful or immoral can cho…

No, it isn't an item. It's a service. And what does entitlement have to do with it? There is no entitlement implied. One can't buy a service if no one else is willing to provide it. If someone is willing to sell a service that someone else is willing to provide, how is that entitled? And how is it dehumanizing? It's a simple transaction, ie, "I pay you X dollars. You perform Y service." Is it wrong to pay for a massage? Both are services where the seller is providing the buyer with pleasure. It'…

Yes. You are correct. Different jobs have different duties. But as long as someone is doing something of their own free will, and not being physically forced or coerced to do something, they should be allowed to make money from it. You may find prostitution distasteful, but if another consenting adult doesn't have that same view, who are you to say it's wrong for them?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/08/25 06:42 AM
-2

That's not correct. She does "want to" do it, but only for a certain price. Just like any other job. My server at a restaurant doesn't "want to" wait on me and serve me food. They do it because they're getting paid. Would I ever pay for sex? No. Because like you, I'm more interested in being desired and the intimacy of sex, than I am interested in the actual sex itself. But for some men, even "fake" intimacy is better than none at all. And the more money you spend, the more real you can get it t…

In theory, this approach makes sense, but it doesn't work that way in reality. The men OP is talking about, who would choose to go this route, are the most vulnerable to exploitation and manipulation. I've known a few sex workers as friends over the years, and it's not as cut and dry as OP is making it out to be. The sex workers I've known would eat these guys alive. Drain them of every cent they had, and leave them even worse off than before. They'll say everything these guys want to hear, make…

I don't disagree necessarily, but friendships change as you get older. At 25, most of your friends have ample free time to hang out, go to activities, etc. When you and your friends are 35, that'll have changed dramatically. A large portion of them will be married, have kids, and have big responsibilities that make casual hang outs much fewer and farther between. You'll still be very good friends and all, but your time spent with them van easily go from being a few times a month to just a few ti…

Obviously, one good parent is better than two bad ones. No one is claiming that having a two parent household guarantees anything, but the numbers speak for themselves. Children of two parent households, on average, do better in school, social settings, employment, income, etc.

If casual sex is your goal, unless you have major physical deformity or mental issues, it's absolutely achievable. Ugly men get laid all the time. You have this unfounded notion that only conventionally attractive men are the only ones having sex.

Insecure, immature men are intimidated by a woman who is more successful than they are. A man who is comfortable with himself and has his own life together couldn't care less what a woman, or anyone else for that matter does.

Why? I've always held the opinion that strictly platonic relationships b/w men and women have always been extremely rare, regardless of place or time. But that doesn't mean having romantic relationships are impossible. It just means that the trope of opposite sex platonic friends transitioning to something more is, and has always been also extremely rare, if not altogether false. As far as dating, hooking up, casual, etc go, you can still have and get those relationships. It's just more realisti…

What's the issue? I didn't even know it existed until now. And from what little I scrolled through, most of the people on there just looked like normal people you'd run across every day. I didn't see any stunners looking for ego boosts or anything like that.
/r/AllPillDebate23/07/23 06:56 AM

I would argue that older men dating younger women isn't because younger women are easier, there are just much more of them available. Case in point, I'm in my early 40's. I spent a lot of my 30's in ltr's, but for whatever reasons, I just never ended up getting married and/or having kids. So now that I'm back in the dating world, the number of single, childless, and attractive women at or near my age group is much, much smaller. Whereas women in their 20's are plentiful. Only if one of the party's uses that knowledge to have sex w/o any intention of following through on having the relationship. Meaning, eg, if the man says he also wants a relationship just to have sex. Or conversely, if the man expresses no intention of having a relationship, and the woman has sex with him, in hopes of changing his mind, then being upset with him after if he doesn't.

I think it's a much more nuanced question than a simple yes or no. If a man thinks a woman is attractive physically, he couldn't care less how young or old she is. For one, let's be honest, women on average, tend to show their age much earlier and more severely than men. While a man might be well into his 30's, he may still easily pass for much younger. Women, not quite as much. So, if a guy can still pass for the age group of women who are more physically attractive, it stands to reason he'd ke…

Ok. Fair enough. But if your situation isn't one that can get you the things you want, why not change your situation? A fisherman can't catch fish if he's not willing to travel to the water. So if you're purposely limiting your opportunities, then you can't complain about not having said chances. And if you're not having success using OLD, why keep doing it, expecting a different result? Stop approaching, period. I can't remember the last time I tried what anyone would call a cold approach. Almost every single girl I've dated, or even met that I could potentially date, I met organically just by either being in mutual circumstances, or by just frequenting the same places enough times to have a familiarity enough to have a natural interaction.

Just stop worrying about the things that are out of your control. Stay fit so you look presentable, and for your own health and well-being. I know it takes more effort, but OLD is stacked against you, so why keep playing a losing game? If height is a woman's dealbreaker, and that means you're already off her radar, so be it. That…

28 and 35? No one cares. That age difference is negligible. 22 and 35 will raise a few eyebrows. Moreso for the maturity gap than the age, and it would be more unusual to see a very young man with a very mature woman than the other way around.

I don't agree with this, but for the sake of discussion, let's say this is accurate. So, now what?? You know the rules. You know it's not "fair". And you know that with the exception of a small percentage of men, the game is stacked against us. So, now what? Are you just going to give up on having sex and/or relationships? It's the only game in town, so either play it or don't. If you choose to get out of the game, no problem. There's no shame in tapping out. But if you still want to date and ha…

I'm not seeing the problem here. Those are the only options for all of us. Either keep trying by improving our skills, and hope for the best, or find a way to be content living life out of the game. All a therapist or anyone can do, is try and help someone take either path in a mentally healthy way. The only crime here that I can see is that it costs $400 to get told what should be painfully obvious. But that's not the therapist's fault. He's just making a living.

Despite what the pill communities like to believe, most women do not have a history of hypersexuality. OP is using the extremes to make his argument. And if you need to appeal to the absurd extremes to make a case, your argument is most likely, a bad one. Hypersexuality is more often than not, a result of past trauma or abuse, and if a woman has leaned towards that type of behavior in the past, chances are she's got other issues that make her unsuitable even for long-term relationships, much les…

I've had all types of relationships over that time, including long-term, short-term, fwb's, ons's, etc. I'm not rich (barely make > 100k), not tall, not white, not famous, just average looking, and don't have a six pack. I'm 41, and my gf is 25. It doesn't bother her a single bit, so why should I let it bother me? We met, had a good connection, and found each other attractive. Our age gap never once even came into question with each other. If not a single thing changed about her except the number of her age, I would still date her, whether she was 21 or 45. Who cares? That's all supposition, and frankly, wrong.you have no idea how she feels, or what she thinks she deserves. If she actually still gave a shit about your height, she wouldn't be with you in the first place. Women can find dates with litte to no effort, if height is an issue for her, she can easily find someone else more to her preference. The problem with this sub, and the others like it, is that a lot of readers can't differentiate b/w a preference and a requirement. Gtfo with this. As an older guy, hanging out with 20yr olds is annoying af. The majority of them are obnoxiously full of themselves and think that they know everything about life, even though they've barely experienced any of it. That's just the nature of all people at that age, both men and women. At that age, most have no idea who they are yet. And that's something only experience can teach you. I'm in my late 30's and I've had relationships with women in all ages over 21. If I met a woman in her 30's that I found attractive and was compatible with, I'd have no issue dating her. But single, attractive women w/o children are much less available in that age group. Women in their 20's are just a much larger dating pool. I'm not insinuating that it's my age that makes me attractive to younger women. But for the most part, it doesn't seem to be a hindrance on being able to attract them.

I think it's a hard-wired biological male response within many social species. Remember, birth control has only been available for the past 70 years or so, which is a drop in the bucket of all of human history. Before that, female promiscuity had much higher consequences. Evolutionary psychologists have theorized that taboos against female promiscuity evolved on the basis of paternity anxiety. Men and women are not the same, and never will be. There's a reason why in recorded history female promiscuity has always been frowned upon. It is as close to a universal view as you can get. While I agree that everyone should be free from being shamed for having their own agency and making their own decisions, freedom from shame does not meet freedom from consequence. Women are allowed to value looks, wealth, height, etc. So men should also be allowed to value their own preferences, including v…

Sorry, but that's nonsense. Women need to take accountability for their own decisions. Men don't make women anything. These women chased the men who had no incentive to commit to them, and for any number of reasons, couldn't handle the consequences of that behavior. Women control men's access to sex and reproduction. They have to allow a man to impregnate them. There are 40+ forms of birth control for women, many of which are free and/or easily available. In this day and age, there is no excuse …

I don't doubt that that's what you've experienced, but the data doesn't bear that out. Your typical wealthy person, is usually not wealthy until they're at least in their later 30's. Studies have shown that a woman's peak desirability for adult men (regardless of the man's age), is between the ages 20 to 25. So these wealthy men, who are older, are still attracted to young women the most.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/22 05:19 PM

Again, I'm not saying men want virgins. In this day and age, at least in the US, less than 15% of women are virgins by the time they graduate from college. So finding an adult, attractive woman, that is still a virgin, is completely unrealistic. But all else being equal, a woman with fewer partners is more desirable to men than a woman with many partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/22 04:57 PM

You're correct on that most men, rich ones included, don't expect virgins. But almost all men will prefer an inexperienced woman to an over-experienced one. So a rich man, who is at the top of the food chain in the sexual marketplace, has nothing to lose by rejecting women he deems too experienced. To men in that position, women are easily replaceable, with younger, hotter, and less-used ones.

No one with with sense shames a woman for preferring a rich man to a poor one. But you're (selectively?) leaving out the important trait that men desire, besides youth and beauty; purity. The "shaming" is because women seem to be fine with double standards, but only when they work to their advantage. Women want a man to be "traditional", in that they're willing and able to protect and provide, but are unwilling to be "traditional" themselves. They want all the benefits of sexual freedom, but non…

It only matters when you're talking about avenues like online dating where all intangibles are not accounted for, and thus, are considered equal. Very common. None of those attributes are an indicator of how good that guy is at talking to, and charming women. Lol... if you can't get with younger women or those in your age group, what makes you think you'll be able to pull hot, older ones? Older women are even more discerning. For younger women, just being attractive is 75% of the game. Older women aren't so easily swayed. You need to be much more interesting to seriously catch their attention. To be completely honest, it's none of my business, and I can't hold her to some standard that I don't even hold for myself. I'm making the assumption that most guys on this sub, and on reddit…

Are they capable? Yes. Do they usually make the best decisions? I'd say that depends on a multitude of factors, like how they've been raised, what their peer group is like, their education, etc. But that applies to everyone, men and women, in that age range. If you've been raised in a bad environment, you're probably going to make bad choices.

While flattering, I doubt that's the reason. I've been rejected enough times in my life to believe that that's true. I just think that while most guys might not possess all the characteristics that are desirable on paper, once you're talking to a woman, those characteristics matter a lot less. You can showcase the intangibles of your personality like, humor, kindness, intelligence, etc. So while I agree that looks might help to get you in the door, once you walk through, you've got to bring more…

I think they are. Now, I'll admit that a handful of times I may have had a bit too much to drink, and had a few ons's with women who weren't anything to brag about looks-wise. But in general, I like the challenge of women who are "out of my league". So I'd say overall the women I date(d) are pretty good looking.

Not at all. I work from home. But I do make sure I make time to be social by going out to a few bars/hangouts that I'm a regular at once or twice a week. And I try to stay active by joining social sports groups during the warmer months.

Thats good news! Not bad news, less competition trying makes it easier for you. I don't see it that way. To me, it's not a competition. Someone else having success doesn't mean I'm failing. The idea you can say lift and out compete other men for women is great, you can control it If a girl likes you, she's not gonna care about your lifting. If a girl only gives you the time of day because you have a ripped body, she's not a girl worth going after to begin with.

I honestly couldn't tell you for sure. If I had to give reasons that i think help me, I'd say that I'm naturally social, and genuinely enjoy being around people. I like being nice and making people comfortable. And it's important to me to always try and have good interactions with others. Also, while I fear rejection as much as the next guy, I care more about what I stand to gain from going after the women I like, than what I might lose by getting turned down.

Essentially all the traits that the pill truthers would say were a death sentence in the realm of dating. Get involved in your own interests that can be done socially. Eg, if you're into being active, join some co-ed sports leagues or activity groups. You're conflating two different things. I'm not implying the dating market is an even playing field for all men. It isn't. It never has been, and never will be. But almost nothing in life is fair, and all you can do is the best you can with what you got. If she finds you interesting, you make her laugh, feel safe, respected, and valued, I promise she won't give a shit how tall you are (obviously, unless your height is on the extreme ends of the spectrum). And if you do all those things, and it's your height that's the only dealbreaker, you're better off w/o her. These supposed height requirements are just filters for lazy people who aren't interested in getting to know somebody first.

No it doesn't. It just reflects the economics of sex, where men create the demand, and women control the supply. This is not a new concept. This is the biological imperative in countless species, and despite all of this subs protests, it will continue to be so. It's time to get over it.

Unattractive women kind of have it worse if we're factoring in the workplace. The likelihood of getting hired/promoted doesn't diminish nearly as much for men as it does for women from being unattractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/22 03:58 AM

No they don't. If a girl is into you, there's no "wooing" necessary. All you have to do is communicate and spend time with her, otherwise known as going on dates. Which she's happy to do, because as we already established, she already likes you. The only time a man needs to woo woman is when she's not particularly interested in you in the first place. In that case, you might succeed in gaining her attraction, but in my experience, that rarely happens.

I think your scenario, where she's gained a significant amount of weight, is unnecessary. Men leave their long-term partners for a newer younger one all the time, even if they've stayed in good shape. There's a saying "Find me a hot girl, and I'll find you a guy who's tired of fucking her." For some men, it's just in their nature to always seek out the next conquest. I.e., to some men, steak might be their favorite dish of all time, but even those men want some chicken once in a while.

Depends on your age. If you're in your 20's it's easy to find people who are still child-less. Once you get into your mid thirties, that dating pool gets much smaller the older you get. Any approach that seems like an approach has a very high chance of failing, regardless of place/setting. Unless you're a dreamboat that she's already been eyeing, walking up to her and cold approaching is going to bring her guard up, and once it is, it's very difficult to bring down. If you can make the interaction seem natural or at least not scream of an approach, your chances of success are exponentially higher.

I'm in full agreement that sex isn't everything, and casual sex means even less as you get older. That being said, the hard part for most guys is when they struggle getting sex at all. If you can get casual sex without too much trouble, that means you're at least competent with women, and can also get relationships and love, if that's what you're looking for. It gives you options. If you can't get even casual sex, you'll probably never get the other things either.

First, we need to define the parameters of being "friends". For example, are these people you're on good terms with, that you sometimes see at parties? Or are we talking about the kind of relationship where you can completely trust, and/or rely on them? The kind of relationships where if you were gone, would genuinely affect their lives. If it's the former, then yes, men and women can be "friends". And I'd say that to have a healthy social life, you need a mix of both genders in your social circ…

My suggestion would be to stick to the leagues/groups for activities that don't require a lot of physical exertion, e.g., board games, trivia, etc. You can still use them to network and be social, w/o having to embarrass yourself by falling on your face.

Co-ed is short for "co-educational", which is an American term that means "both men and women". I'm guessing you're not in America, so idk if these leagues exist where you are. In the US, pretty much any major metropolitan area has lots of these types of leagues. As for age limits, the leagues typically require that you are at least 21. Since the leagues are often sponsored by bars, it's expected that after the league games each week, the teams meet at the sponsoring bar for drinks and/or food.

You're missing the point. Playing the sport is just an excuse to meet people and socialize. If the game and competition is what you're there for, then I agree, I'd rather play in a men's league. But, the point is not to compete at sports, it's to meet new people and have a shared activity to socialize around.

Recreational co-ed sports leagues are a gold mine. I did them for many years and never failed to get dates from them. Even if you're not athletic or competitive, they have beginner level leagues for almost all sports, even "kids games", e.g., kickball, etc. The leagues are often sponsored by bars, and are usually just an excuse to grab drinks after the games. You can sign up as an individual, and the league will pair you with other solo players to make a team. If you're not into sports, they hav…

Solution to what? As far as I can tell, dating is the same as it's always been, the tools and accessibility are just different. My solution to the problem of OLD, would be to stop doing it. If you're not one of the genetically fortunate that can have success based on looks alone, why beat your head against the wall on a modality that is designed to work against you?

I've been dating for decades at this point with all types of relationships, long-term, short-term, fwb's, ons's, etc. and I have never once inquired or even thought about, how long, or not long, the woman I'm with made a previous partner wait to have sex. Why is this even a sticking point for anyone? Who cares? Ok buddy. You're right, because lying to strangers on the internet has any kind of value to me whatsoever. You don't have to believe me, it changes my life exactly zero percent. My success rate is far from 100%, but it's also not zero, which it also isn't for most people, hence it being the average. But, according to your logic, since you haven't had any success, that means nobody else can possibly be having any either. In my experience, no matter how "viscerally attractive" I found my partner in the beginning, the longer the relationship lasted, the more that attraction faded, and became less important. It's not that I stopped finding her attractive, it just stopped being the kind of attraction that sparks mad last. I'd argue that only those with little or no long-term relationship experience realistically expect that initial "visceral attraction" to last forever.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/03/22 08:07 PM

Believe it or not your experience, from what little I know of it, is the exception, not the rule. Not only do studies bear that out, but I also refute your definition of average, based on my own experience. I'm below average in height, make average money, not white, not muscular, not particularly good looking... basically everything the pill truthers would say that I should be a kissless virgin for the rest of my life. Most of us fall into the category of being average, that's why it's called "average". And most of us are having sex and relationships. So simply being average isn't the problem. So there must be something(s) you're doing, or not doing, that are making it difficult for you to have success. I'd suggest finding out what those issues are and working on improving them. Ok. I don't disagree, but that's beside the point. The point is, if you truly don't see that there's anything wrong with it (as the OP of this thread said she didn't), why would it be a deal-breaker? Doesn't the simple fact that she views it as a deal-breaker mean that for her there is something unacceptable to her about it? Thats a ridiculous argument. Anyone who thinks using an escort is buying a woman's body, is either completely delusional, or a psychopath. You're not paying for her body, you're paying for her time, her labor, and her consent. Barring all the dark-sides of the sex work industry, how is it any different than buying services from a masseuse? Both are getting paid to give the customer pleasure through physical contact. Just with different methods, and on different areas of the body.

I've never been with a prostitute, and have no issue with those that have, but just to play devil's advocate for a minute; If you honestly believe there's no shame and nothing wrong with hiring sex workers, why is it a dealbreaker for you? Blamed by who? The only people that know why a relationship fails are the people that were actually in it. For example, if what you want is a guy that treats you well, but you date a guy that you know is an asshole, it's not your standard that's the problem. It's that you didn't adhere to it yourself. The standards that actually matter in a relationship, can't be quantified on a dating profile. I.e., Knowing that a guy is over 6ft tall, and makes $100k+ a year, shares your interest in fitness an…

Gtfoh with that. I have no issue with waiting several dates for a woman to have sex, but 2-3 months?! That's absurd! One of the main reasons to date someone is because you both are sexually attracted to each other, to purposefully deny yourselves of the very reason your seeing other in the first place makes no sense whatsoever. They're comparable in that both things are personal information that nobody is entitled to know. It doesn't pose any threat to me and no one's hiding anything. As I've mentioned several times, one, I don't even know how many women I've been with in the past 25 years. And two, it has nothing to do with her. This obsession with what others have done before you even met them is lunacy.

No one's offended. Everyone is welcome to ask, and I'm free to not answer. And I am upfront about it by setting those personal boundaries. So if finding out how many women have touched my penis in the last 25 years is a make or break question for her. Then she's probably an insecure lunatic, that I'm better off without.

While I don't disagree that the sentiment is rampant and harmful to both men and women, it's completely different in terms of scope for each sex. Men who have the view that "all women are bad", more often than not, have a hard time with dating and relationships with women in general. Whereas, for a woman, holding the view that "all men are bad", doesn't really make it harder for her to date and find sexual partners.

Women are responsible for communicating to the man what it is she needs to achieve an orgasm, whether that's certain techniques, more foreplay, whatever. Men are responsible for carrying that out. Not true. No matter how well intentioned, women have no idea what it's like to be on the demand side of the dating equation. If you want advice on getting better at fishing, you don't ask the fish, you ask a successful fisherman.

My interpretation is that if a woman is predisposed to promiscuity, trying to make her monogamous is a futile enterprise. Which I don't disagree with, as the saying goes, "you can't turn an outside cat, into an inside one". At the same time though, that attitude is dismissing the possibility that people can, and often do, change. In my 20's, I had no interest in a serious, long-term, monogamous relationship. But now that I'm older, sleeping around holds less and less appeal to me. I value the ot…

Typically, raw physucal attraction will fade over time, but at the same time, the need for that same level of purely physical attraction fades as well. If after a significant amount of time, the only thing keeping your relationship together is that you think the ither person is "hot" or whatever, it's not a good relationship to begin with.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/21 06:33 AM

BS. If a woman is stringing you along, it's because she doesn't really want to fuck you. If a girl is into you, unless she's got separate hang ups about sex in general, she's going to sleep with you as soon as possible. Also, I'm assuming the OP is young, because 16-21 is NOT the most desirable age range. At least not for grown, adult men. Anyone under 21 is almost a child still. Gross.

Masturbation and foreplay activities are helpful for sure, but they're definitely not nearly enough to substitute for actual intercourse. Actual sex is much different, and is also different with each person you have sex with. You can train car racing on a video game all you like, but it's definitely not going to substitute for driving an actual car.

It's not a red flag, but it's somewhat of a turn off. I say that because the best sex is when both parties are getting the things they want. The problem with virgins or inexperienced women is that they almost never know what they want. That takes experience and trying new things and finding out what works for you, and what doesn't. While sex isn't everything in a relationship, sexual compatibility is important, and it's hard to know if you're compatible with someone if they don't know themselves…

No I didn't. I addressed money, like I said, if money is what is keeping your girl attracted to you, you're not dating her, you're just renting her. Now that might be enough for some guys, but this guy seems to be looking for an actual relationship, not a disposable one. As for social standing, it's already implied in having charm. If a guy is highly charming, he's almost guaranteed to have good social standing, with both men and women. Charming people draw others to them.

There's nothing wrong with you, you've just spent most of your life thinking you knew how the game was played, and you're finding out the hard way that you don't. Almost all men have experienced this at one point or another. But the good thing is that being better socially with women is a skill, like any other. With the right practice you'll eventually get better at it. You're an intelligent guy who obviously isn't afraid of working hard to achieve your goals. You just have to treat this the sam…

I'm not charming but I have a nice personality I'm sure you do, but so does most everyone else. The vast majority of people have nice, decent personalities. Making guy friends is incredibly easy, as men aren't potentially interested in dating you, and you're not interested in dating them. So the stakes are much lower. Simply not being an overt asshole is enough to be friends with another guy. Whereas women are screening you to potentially be part of their most private, intimate, and vulnerable s…

Perhaps you're misunderstanding. The gentleman I was replying to's main gripe is that because he's simply "average" looking, even though he checks the boxes of smart, driven, and successful, he hasn't had much success. My point was, if he's just average in the looks department, he needs to increase his charm level. There's not a lot you can do to change your looks, but you can do a lot to improve how charming and interesting people find you.

Not knowing you personally, I'm making quite a few assumptions. That being said, I think your frustrations with dating are likely a bit misguided. You're driven, intelligent, and successful. Those are amazing qualities, but, those qualities make you a better, more well-rounded person, they aren't the ones that will get you success in the dating world. Looks AND charm. If the answer is yes to all of those questions, than wtf does it matter if they're not a virgin, or if they watch porn?! No one with any sense thinks that it will. But legalizing it, in many ways normalizes it. That way guys who for whatever reason have trouble participating in "normal" dating, can at the very least experience some form of sexual intimacy in a safe, clean environment without worrying about getting in legal trouble and to some extent can avoid the social stigma of being a "John". Also, those troubled men can experience sex and learn a bit about what it's like in a way that watching porn and/or mast…

Even that is thinking way too far ahead. An approach is just initiating a conversation. If she's not into it, the whole interaction can be over in 30 seconds. If as a woman, it's possible for you to get "used" in 30 seconds, approaching men is the least of your problems.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/21 06:45 PM
5

Which is exactly the point, if she approached and you guys ended up going home together, if she slept with you w/o first being clear on what the parameters of the relationship are, then you never called her afterward, that's not her getting used. That's just poor communication of what her expectations were before she consented to having sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/21 05:58 PM
3

Agreed, but that's beside the point. Even if a woman approaches, there's still a whole lot of things that need to happen after the initial approach to turn it into a situation where she can be "used". It's the steps in between that matter, not simply the fact that she was the one who approached.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/21 04:56 PM
1

Personally, I don't care what a woman's total body count is nearly as much as I care about the time between bodies. If she's had 20 partners in the last 10 years, no big deal. If she's had 20 partners in the last 10 weeks, that's a problem.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/21 04:18 PM
3

That's dumb. All an approach is, is introducing yourself, making a bit of conversation, and possibly flirting or indicating non-platonic interest. It's not an invitation to fuck. If the girl made it one, then that's on her, and she should be more discerning about the guys she hops into bed with.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/21 03:44 PM
34

That's stupid. If you're going to get used by a guy, it has nothing to do with if you approached first or not. That guy is just an @$$hole, and you either didn't recognize or looked over the signs until you realized it was you who got used.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/21 02:49 PM
2

As with most everything in life, it's not 100%, but in my experience/observation, it's very rare for men and women to be strictly platonic friends who spend time together significantly outside of a mixed, group setting.

If by attractive, you mean how likely you are to be put on a magazine cover, then yes. OLD heavily favors those men who fit the category of "conventionally" attractive. This makes absolute sense to men, as that is how we judge women's attractiveness. For women though, for the most part, a man's pure looks is only a part of the "equation" of finding a man attractive, and how large or small that part plays varies not only from woman to woman, but from time to time. Now you mighy dismiss this and s…
/r/PurplePillDebate17/05/21 05:43 AM

They can, and do. It's just that the qualities that make someone a good guy, often are not accompanied with the qualities that make a guy "exciting". This isn't to say that a guy has to be an @$$hole to be exciting, but the stereotypical "good guy" tends to be less adventurous, less willing to take risks, do the kinds of actions that women find initially attractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/21 08:10 AM
1

When a woman say she doesn't want a man who is "boring", she doesn't mean she's looking for a guy who's partying 24/7 or taking her bungee jumping every weekend. What she means is that she wants a guy who can make even mundane things and activities interesting and fun. She wants a guy who has things to talk about and has experiences to share.

The only true way to test this hypothesis would have been to compare the children those men had, if any, when they were younger to the ones they had later in life, with the same mother. Even then, you'd need to have a significant enough sample size.

You are the problem here. It's not because you're not "alpha" enough, and it's not because you don't meet some arbitrary requirements. It's because you think that there's some magic attraction checklist that if you check all the boxes, women will just come flocking. That's just not how it works.

You're just using this story to support your narrative. Nobody has any idea what Depp's relationship was with Paradis. They were together for a very long time, and maybe just had grown apart. It happens all the time. This is Johnny Depp, one of the most famous and desirable actors in Hollywood. He had his choice of almost unlimited amounts of hot young women. He didn't need to jump at an opportunity. His opportunities were already endless.

It's usually, but not always hot girl with an unattractive man. My initial thoughts about it depend on what I perceive to be the age difference b/w them. If the unattractive man is clearly much older than the girl, I tend to think that it's likely a sugar-daddy type relationship. If they seem relatively close in age, I usually wonder what the guy's personality is like that he could attract such an attractive partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/04/21 08:24 AM

There's nothing "wrong" with them, but for me and the VAST majority of people in western culture, being fat is just not attractive, for men or women. For a society where the initial value placed on women (and men to a lesser extent) is their attractiveness, fat women are going to have a much more difficult time.

I don't think it's one or the other, you can do both. When I go out, it's to spend time with friends and socialize, but if we're out and an opportunity presents itself, I'll take a shot at hooking up. Plus it's always better to have your friends around when chatting up a woman. I find it makes women more comfortable, as they rarely go out alone, and doesn't give off the creepy guy on the prowl vibe.

All men want to be good, but a lot of men don't care to find out if they actually are. Tbf, while getting a man off is pretty straightforward, what turns a woman on, and gets her off can vary widely from woman to woman, and even from the same woman at different times.

I don't think it has to be one or the other. You can be happy being single, and you can be happy in relationships. You can also be unhappy in either. It's just a matter of which one works better for you at the time, and the relationship(s) you're in. It's better to be happy single than unhappy in a relationship. There's no way to teach men how to attract women, because all women are different and have different things that make them attracted to men. The only universal attractors of women are wealth, fame, and/or status. Whereas for women the only thing you have to do to attract men is to not be ugly. Who are these men that don't care about their partners pleasure? It's practically the only thing that I care about with any partner, casual or not. The way I see it, being a man, I'm almost 100% sure I'm going to have an orgasm from sex. So that's not an accomplishment. But it is an accomplishment to give my partner great sexual pleasure, if not an orgasm. I like knowing that even if I never see her again, she'll at least have a fond memory of the time we had.

Assuming all parties involved are safe and practicing proper contraception, I don't see anything wrong with it. That theory sounds like it would make sense, but if you think about it, it doesn't. It goes against supply & demand. Drug dealers don't have to advertise to customers or convince people to buy drugs. How did you make the leap that the preferences are caused by porn? It seems you're operating on a bunch of assumptions about what is attractive. Generally, it boils down to proportions and symmetry. I have no science to back this up, but I think it all depends on who ends the relationship. Men may tend to take a longer time initially to commit, but once they do, their commitment runs deep. If men decide to end the relationship, it's usually sudden and tends to be done more abruptly. From my experience, women on the other hand, tend to have already mentally/emotionally ended the relationship long before actually breaking it off. That's a ridiculous argument. We're not talking about a girl who never wants to have sex. The point of the discussion is following some arbitrary number of dates rule. If she never wants to have sex, then obviously you're not compatible, and staying in the relationship is bad for both parties. But if you leave an otherwise good relationship because it's been X number of dates and you haven't had sex yet, then yes, it's clear that sex is more important to you than the actual relationship.

What would be more productive would be if you stop thinking of people in binary ways, and start treating each person as an individual with their own needs, motivations, and desires. If you get to know a woman, and you see that her primary motivation is financial, then behave accordingly. Do most women prefer their men to be the primary breadwinners? Sure, statistically that may be true, but you're not dating a statistic. You're dating the woman right in front of you, so why not figure out what s…

I agree with your sentiment, but I think "shallow" might be the wrong word. It's not that looks/money/status aren't important to women, they're just not the beginning and end of everything, the way being "hot" is for men.

I'd say the odds aren't bad. Which is exactly my point. There are millions of single women out there. So even if just one percent of those millions find you potentially attractive, that's almost 40k people! So unless you live in a cave, just by regularly going out and meeting people, chances are you'll find one randomly. Your chances increase significantly if you actively seek out others with common interests, and even moreso when you factor in women who are actively looking for men. Now they're…

Statistically, it's virtually guaranteed. Take the US for example, there are approx. 36 million women between the ages of 18-34. Even if only 10% of them are unnarried/single, that's still 3.6 million available women. Are you suggesting that not even one out 3.6 million people is going to find you at least a little attractive?!

You talk about seduction like the seduced party has no choice in the matter. That's not how it works. Women don't have some magical power over men. To be seduced by a woman, a man already has to have at least some level of sexual attraction to her . If you really find a woman unattractive (aesthetically/mentally/whatever), there is no set of "moves" a woman can perform that are going to suddenly change that. Women are just exponentially more likely to succeed in seducing a man, because for men t…

A big bank account Fame Talent Status And often times: A sense of danger These things alone or in combination can override purely physical attributes. Case(s) in point, Lil' Wayne, imo, is one of the ugliest men I've ever seen, but I'm confident he's forgotten more ass then I'll ever see in 10 lifetimes, because he possesses to some degree, all of those attributes. War Machine (the former MMA fighter) is a convicted violent felon towards women, who is currently serving life in prison got married…

I don't think you're wrong, but using a binary scale is probably an oversimplification. In my experience the way women are attracted to men is much more nuanced then a simple "hot or not". For example, using the 1-10 scale, a woman may feel like a guy has to be at least a 7 looks-wise to get her attention. But, at the same time, if he's only a 6 but he's got other attractive qualities, whatever those may be, she may be less rigid about if he makes the cut. If you're going to use a binary scale, …

The whole point is that we, as men, don't understand it. Because it makes no sense. Why?! What makes you think that your soooo special that this guy, who has been a shitty person essentially his whole life, is suddenly going to stop being shitty? And even if for some crazy reason you think that, why do you complain about him, when he's just being exactly the person who he was the day you met him? It's the scorpion and the frog. Furthermore, if you wanted a guy to behave "tamed", as you say, then…

Just my theory, but I think this exists because of the contradictions that men see in a not insignificant amount of women. For example, if you were to poll women about what qualities attract them to a man, I'd be willing to bet that virtually none of them would say, they want a man who is, e.g. abusive, or a philanderer, or unintelligent, or any number of "negative" qualities. But at the same time, men see women with those kinds of guys all the time. As men, we're told all through our lives that…

Maybe you might want to work on editing this post. I can barely make out what you're trying to say. Assuming I understand your position, I'm going to say that you are correct, men and women can be friends in a completely platonic way. But, I would argue that it's rare, and it happens much less often than most people (women especially, attractive women even more so) think it does. However, before we can make that assessment, you need to define the parameters of what you would consider "friendship…

I would propose that at least one of two things is happening here: One, perhaps you just haven't encountered the right guy who's under 6' tall. Case in point. I'm relatively short, but have dated women much taller than me and they all said they would never date a guy under X height. But, they did. Point is, attraction can he triggered by other things that substitute for a person's conscious standards. Or two, maybe you have been attracted to some men who are shorter, and whether consciously or n…

There will never be a standardized agreement on this subject. Human preferences vary too wildly for that to be possible. But we as a culture, largely agree on physical attractiveness as evidenced by our celebrities. They obviously don't all look the same, but they do share similarities in terms of features, e.g. men typically have strong chins and/or jawlines, etc.

It depends on the friend. If I met him and I had any reason to believe that he had any intentions towards my SO that were anything other than strictly platonic, then I would not be comfortable with any amount of communication b/w them. But, if he seemed genuinely not interested in my SO in any way and he was a good guy, then I guess it wouldn't bother me if they communicated or hung out from time to time. A lot of it would also depend on how she acted around said friend. If she did things like l…

I beg to differ. Those relationships rarely ever become close friends. Not saying you don't make casual friends and acquaintances all throughout your life, but not close, personal friendships. Studies show that it takes approximately 200+ hours of spending time with someone to develop deep friendships with people. Typically the only period in your life where you have that kind of time is in your youth, and when you're a young adult. After that, life gets in the way. People get married, have fami…

What difference does that make? You're still giving out your personal info to someone who shouldn't have it.

Exactly my point. If you weren't interested, why are you giving these creeps your personal contact information? Throwing insults is never ok, but you are not absolved of some responsibility here. It's inevitable that some people are going to suck. That's just life. Instead of also sucking, albeit in a different way, perhaps the better strategy is to be a bit more discerning about whom you give out your personal information to.

I agree and sympathize. Men can act like complete morons when it comes to approaching or inviting a woman out. If someone is harassing you or just generally being belligerent after you politely decline, by all means, ignore them. But the point is, you first gave that person the respect to state your position and decline. You don't need to explain or defend yourself after that. In fact at the point, ignoring them is probably the right call. There is nothing to be gained by continuing to engage wi…

Exactly, be an adult and have the balls to state your position. You don't need to explain anything beyond the first declination. If you hate the person that much, tell them to piss off and never contact you again. As I've said elsewhere, ignoring people is the equivalent of your boss firing you, but instead of telling you directly, they just keep you off the work schedule and hope you get the idea.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/19 07:32 PM

Do they though? Let's say you're right. That means that there are conceivably millions of women right now who are purposely being disrespectful, not just to mere men, but to men who they know well enough to have at some point given their number to, with full expectation that those men were going to use said number. I would hate to believe that's true. That would mean that our culture has devolved to such a degree that we're ok with purposely being shitty to each other.

Still not ok. If someone has your phone number, they're obviously something to you. Friend, colleague, acquaintance, or whatever and they deserve respect... Ignoring someone like they don't exist is treating them like they're nothing. If you don't respect them enough to respond to them when they communicate with you, they shouldn't be in your life at all.

... “friendzoned” men actually want a relationship, not just sex. I wasn't talking about just sex. Sex is the given part of it. We always want a non-platonic relationship with women we're attracted to, and we know if we're attracted right away. We don't get romantically curious. The only thing we have to figure out is what kind of relationship and for how long. Towards some women, it's mostly sexual so maybe he's only interested in a fwb arrangement, or casual dating, whatever. In other cases we…

... it’s perfectly natural when you’re trying to navigate feelings Men almost never have to "navigate" our feelings. We already know. Either we're attracted to you romantically/sexually or we're not and we figure that out for ourselves almost immediately. Now that attraction can change over time, e.g., maybe after hanging out he thinks you're annoying or bitchy, or whatever, but we don't have to "figure it out" the way women seem to do. ... every boyfriend I’ve ever had was a “friend first.” N…

Maybe it's just because I'm from an older generation, but I find that kind of behavior extremely unattractive and disrespectful. Personally, I'd rather someone tell me directly to f' off, then to ignore me like I don't exist, or worse feed me some BS about how they were too busy to respond or they never saw the message. First of all, really? I'm not sure I agree with that. It's not that younger people don't know how to socialize, they just do it differently. Nobody likes the process of rejection. Obviously not the rejectee, but also the rejector. It's uncomfortable. Turning someone down makes you feel bad, even if you know it's the right decision for you. The difference is that women in their 30's and up, grew up learning how to do it face to face and got used to it. They're not afraid of the discomfort of it. Younger generations fe…

I'm convinced that this is almost completely a generational issue. People who are currently in their 20's, especially lower 20's will do almost anything to avoid feeling uncomfortable, more specifically, feel uncomfortable in social situations. Thus, they'll avoid any kind of, for lack of a better word, confrontation, if they can help it. I'm a male in my late 30's, so people of my generation grew up and learned to socialize without nearly the connectivity that younger generations are used to.…

It depends on what you mean by "easier". Smartphones, social networking, and dating apps have made it easier than ever to meet people you never would have encountered by traditional means like work, school, bars, etc. but at the same time it's made it extremely easy to filter potential dating partners out w/o ever having met them. For example, many couples I know tell the same story that they never thought they would end up with someone like their partner because he/she didn't fit certain criter…

Isn't it funny how these guys, who have little to no experience with women, know what all women want and are like? Taking dating advice from these guys is the same as taking marriage advice from the Pope.

There is no single answer to this question. Everybody is different and do things for different reasons. To lump everyone together and think everyone has the same motivations is just lazy and ignorant.

Depends on the type of sex work. I've known and dated many women who are/were dancers at gentleman's clubs. For the most part they're no different than dating girls who work conventional jobs. They just work different hours and have some interesting/crazy stories. As for lying, some of them were fine with other people knowing, some kept it on the dl, and understandably so. As for more involved types, like escorts, etc., I think I know myself well enough to know that, as understanding as I'd try …

If he hasn't penetrated a womans vagina with his penis and thrusted to the point of ejaculation, he is a virgin.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/19 12:59 AM

The longer you maintain your virginity, the more you'll limit your dating pool. Experienced women are less interested in an inexperienced man. At a certain point your options will be mostly women for whatever reason, are maintaining their own virginities. If you're able to attract women and have sex, it may be an avenue to explore. If for no other reason than to have your virginity not be an issue when you find someone you really want to be in a relationship with.

What is the fixation on dating/marrying a virgin anyway? Sex is a very important part of any healthy relationship. Wouldn't you want a girl who knows what they're doing, and knows what they like? Obviously no man wants to be with a "loose" woman, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm referring to a woman who's perhaps had a few partners from previous relationships.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/19 08:11 AM

You don't have to share your partners interests, but you have to be accepting of them. If she's passionate about something that you're not, and you have a condescending attitude towards it every time she brings it up, then she'll feel like you don't value her, or her feelings. That's where you'll end up diminishing attraction.

Is this even a real question? Yes. You are the asshole. If you touch a woman (or any person for that matter) and she doesn't reciprocate or encourage it in any way, she's NOT into it. Period. End of story. Furthermore, if you're touching a girl and she's completely not responding, how are you still pressing the issue?! It's like fondling someone in a coma. Does that sound sexy to you?! For whatever reason, sometimes women are afraid to outright reject a mans advances. Maybe they're afraid, or ma…

I'm assuming from your question that you just started dating this woman and you've already had sex. Given that, why are you even thinking about marriage this early on?! It takes a very long time to know someone enough to decide if you want to marry them (I'd argue it takes a couple years). Are you really going to hold that against them if you've had a great relationship that whole time?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/18 03:35 PM

If a woman doesn't respond to you in a timely fashion, she's not interested. Period. Nobody is too busy to take 10 seconds to respond to a text, and what person do you know under the age of 35, does not have their phone within arms length of them at all times? It's not many. And if she is responding days later with just quick smiley faces a without interacting... she is also not interested. Like all people do, women prioritize their social interactions based on their level of interest.
