This is horrific. I've unfortunately been in a situation years ago with a boy who I thought was a "friend" (we were in the same friend group) - one night he invited me over to his house to hang out, he was high and drunk (I was just high) and I wound up getting raped by him. Shyest, quietest, "kindest" boy I knew at the time, and my friends thought the world of him. I was positive I was in good hands to just hang out with him at his apartment and smoke some weed. That was the last time I ever sm…

Don't beat yourself up, you live and you learn. Many of us have experienced the same thing, and it's stuff like this that helps you grow in the long run!

This is a great way of looking at things! I wish many more would see it this way too. It's great to have a partner to complement your life, but they shouldn't BE your life. I think all girls should be told this stuff growing up. You really have to have your own before you start worrying about finding a partner. And maintain your own life/interests/hobbies/etc. once you're with someone.

Agreed, me too! I was in this mindset (to a degree) for a few years as I was coming into my own. A lot of it was insecurity and issues with my self-worth and self-esteem. Working with a therapist for a few years and sorting through some personal issues really helped me change things around. I hope anyone that is struggling with this mindset can get the support they need from a professional and have a core support system to keep them in check. It really makes a world of difference. So many women …

Back This. I know plenty of men in intensive jobs that don't have access to their phones throughout their entire day, yet they're still able to make a relationship work.

This. And over an extended period of time.. any guy could pull out all the stops for a few weeks, but longevity and consistency is what counts!

So true. A lot of guys I know want constant attention from females and it affects their overall self esteem way more than any of my female friends (which is typically the stereotype). A lot of people also think that if they reach out to a boy who's being flaky and he responds that that's a sign he's into them/wants to keep seeing them... when he really is just bored and wanting attention/an ego boost. Not worth it in the end! Took many years for me to learn this.

I'd highly recommend any of the Ordinary's products - they have a number of serums that are amazing for any sort of skin issues you may be experiencing: acne, fine-lines, wrinkles, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, dark spots, sun damage, etc. The best part is they are HIGHLY affordable - the average bottle of serum (which should last a few months depending on how often you use it) is anywhere from $6-14. They also have great cleansers, toners, and primers. I've noticed great results specifically from…
