Desirable characteristics surely provide more opportunities for reproduction, which is optimal from POV of the DNA, right? It's sort of what "desirable" means. Also, what I said last message about human penises being larger than necessary for reproduction, which suggests either decorative value or enhanced pleasure for the female, or both. Your assertion that this would necessarily result in a scenario of endlessly and infinitely longer penises seems to me to be a straw man, so to speak.

Not trying to be an asshole here, genuinely interested. Regarding the longer average, I believe human penises are much larger than those of similar primates and similar sizes (who manage to reproduce just fine, since their species survive), so for whatever reason we seem to have developed with larger penises than the demands of mere reproduction would seem to require.
