Life in Montreal is supppsed to be nice. Well there are shitty parts of the city, the food is perhaps the best on the East Coast, and has many nice areas. You will almost certainly be able to join clubs as a grad student.

I am a second year master's student at an Ontario University (I'd prefer not to say which, I'd be open to PM you more details if you like). I have actually found myself having a lot more free time than at a lot of points in my undergrad. I think to describe it best is that I do more work on average than umdergrad, but there's way less of those 2-3 week cram periods you'd get in undergrad where you'd have like 3 midterms, 2 essays, and a bunch of reading to do. Get involved in your dept's social …

After listening to some of the No More Mr. Nice Guy audio book this story really resounded with me. I've had a problem my whole life saying "No." And I think there's a fundamental problem underlying that which is conflict avoidance. I've avoided conflict my whole life which means lying to people, saying yes to things I don't want to do, and not standing up for myself. I'm trying to change that but it's hard because it's so ingrained in me.

I think the first piece of advice I'd like to give is assume nothing. Don't assume that the girl doesn't like sports, videogames, watching action movies, or that weird anime show you think no one else has ever heard of. So in that vein, don't be afraid to talk about stuff you are passionate about. But obviously balance that with asking her about what her interests are. It's frustrating because I've been on dates where it seems like she has no interests whatsoever, but I'm clearly just not gettin…

If you think it's important, I'd bring it up right before you do it in bed. It's not going to break the mood, it's really not a big deal as a guy to be honest, and if anything she'll be excited to take the lead a bit.

Goals: 1.) Start going to the gym at least twice a week instead of once a week which I've been doing for the past month. 2) Do more cardio exercise. 3) Go to a party hosted by my old fraternity where I go to grad school. and last but not least: 4) MEET MORE GIRLS!!!

It sounds like your "energy" level for lack of a better term was low. I'm not sure what it takes exactly yet, but you can feel this difference when you walk into a club/bar for the first time. Some things that work for me are thinking of a really awesome theme song as I walk into the bar like out of a movie, having a really fun & loud conversation with my friends, or just even smiling at everyone as you walk in. You need to maintain this energy up until your first approach, and don't let it die …

It's tough man. I think I'm going to write a post about it. I like to refer to it as the "be cool" mentality. Your brain is so hyper-focused on just trying to say the right things, and to come off as funny, interesting, and witty that you just go overboard. Here's a few tips that this article and other posters have offered: -Talk less, listen more. -Don't feel the need to comment on every single thing she says. -Don't "reflex" agree with something she says. It's a common reaction to want to nod …

I was about to re-post some of what the article mentioned but I think that everything there was spot on. TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, I wish I had read this prior to going on a date about a month ago, because I completely punted it. I think the #1 take away for me is: Don't interrupt her, and don't talk too much.

Haha this is great stuff, and after seeing your second picture I was instantly amazed, because well you're in decent shape, you're not jacked or anything. I'm a tall guy with a similar build and I always worry about coming off as too skinny in a picture like that. So a couple questions I have for you. One, do you ever find it hard to maintain that consistency between your tinder "persona" and when you meet these girls in real life? Because right now, I just don't see myself being like super-sexu…

I think a major issue was I had no game plan here at all. I didn't have an end goal in mind. I kinda surprised myself by approaching so quickly, and when I got a warm reception my mind went on autopilot. This has happened before to me on dates, where my brain feels like it's racing at 100 km/hour thinking of how to impress the girl and what to say, and meanwhile I can't process what people are saying and respond naturally. I get into this "be cool" mode that completely accomplishes the opposite.…

Yeah, I was literally formulating the sentence in my head when this guy came out of nowhere. I should've exited much sooner however.

Best part of the story. This is something you'll remember for years.

Yeah, working out is a bitch and a half. The problem is for me that I'm naturally very skinny so if I want to get any gains at all I have to eat extremely well on a strict schedule. I did a bit of running at the beginning of the summer but I haven't done anything for at least a month. It's not good, and I need to commit to going to the gym. Ideally I want to do a combination of lifting + cardio. On the topic of getting a haircut, this becomes a much bigger issue when you are balding. I am losing…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
