Yes and that would not be a good way too convince them. I didn't say laugh at their argument I said make it apparent it's ludicrously laughable, just laughing does not do that. If you want to see it done properly I suggest watching the daily show interviews. Strangely enough often the best way to do it is to give them full reign and ask questions in a sincere manner. Stupidity often loves an audience. You need to make it so everyone one including themselves sees how stupid the argument is so the…

People in this thread keep repeating that you are not allowed to vote if you don't apply for SS, this is not exactly true. Nothing stops you on a federal level from voting, but there is a link between voting and SS The reason voting for men became universal was due to it being viewed as unconscionable to force citizens to die for their country but not be able to have a say. Afterward the voting age was lowered to 18 as it was viewed as morally wrong that a soldier could die for his country at 18…

your objective is to show them their argument is wrong, and why it's wrong. You goal should actually be to show that their argument is ludicrously laughable and them even trying to put it forth makes them a laughing stock. I am not arguing with the method just saying that it's not enough to prove them wrong, even if someone thinks they are wrong but believes their position is defensible they will merely double down. Now if they think professing that opinion might make them look like an idiot the…

No its actually pretty much standing on a bridge ready to bungee jump. For some its fun for some it's not their cup of tea but most won't really know until they do it. The problem here is half of those whether they find it fun or not are going to end up severely motion sick afterward at best.

I think that phrase “factually innocent” is the most glaring part. That phrase to me reads like some one saying 'technically true,' basically saying he got away with something. Can someone please explain to me in a self consistent and reasonable manner how the facts show your innocent yet some how your still guilty?

Problem is, as long as the MRA is both leftists and rightists, we aren't a house; we're just a group of people who think that the situation of men needs to be fixed. That is only true if you believe one of two things. It is not possible to work with the other side politically. Other issues are more important than the basic human right's of men. For me I'm quite willing to compromise politically for the betterment of men and humans in general I also am quite willing to vote against my own politic…

The term does not mean what you think it means, it has nothing to do with your sexual orientation. The word cis just means the opposite of trans, as in not trans.

The article title is a fairly misleading. He advocates a universal one year service to the country for all citizens which would include military service but also non military civil service as well among other things. So it's not bringing back anything but a new program.

Why in the hell would you use a nonsense designation when our language already has multiple gender neutral terms for children? How is labeling someone who identifies as a gender not inclusive to transgender children? If someone born as a boy identifies as a girl then calling them a girl does not exclude them, the only way this would be possible is if the teacher refused to use the term they identified as for that student. This program is bound to raise questions from children and parent that wil…

Since it's grown using the patients own dna it would could be quite hard, though I doubt that's an insurmountable problem as I believe chromosomes do not control the formation of genitalia directly but do so indirectly ultimately through hormones, this being the common cause of intersex issues where hormones were messed up during gestation.

I appreciate that you know you have made a grave mistake but you need to get counselling and once you have done some solo counseling if you can get your SO to do couples counseling it would be good as well though do make sure it's a counselor that's sympathetic to men in addition to women as some counselors are fairly bigoted. The reason you want to go do personal counseling first is to show your SO that you acknowledge your fault and are working on it that way when you bring up couples counseli…

Here's my views on gender equality. I am posting this on both men's rights and feminism to see which group aligns with my views more. Please ask me questions that could help determine which I am! (I am a 17 male) Sorry if my english isn't perfect. Rape is terrible (men and women). False rape accusations should carry big consequences. One thing I want to point out is no one really knows how hard he hit her, yes she was knocked out but some people have glass jaws not to mention it was one punch. Being treated as a perpetual victim class. Being treated as if they have less agency. Being treated as if they are incapable of being fully accountable. Sadly most of the social inequality that women face is actually reinforced by many feminists.

On the other hand, there is 1 things that woman CAN do that men can't do. That is the right to chose parenthood. There is no legal way for a man to opt out of fatherhood. Women currently have the right to have abortions in all 50 states, though to varying degrees. Just FYI this is not technically true. Safe Haven laws are for the most part gender neutral however in practice you can only abandon a child you have physical and legal custody of which in almost all cases does not apply to men that wo…

While I'm all for drug legalization... What's causing drug dealing is that it's profitable and it's something they can do. The reason some people do it out of greed, many do so out of necessity and have few options due to generational poverty and being in essentially a no win situation due to our outlook on people with criminal records. While legalizing drugs would assuredly stop drug dealing to a large extent it would just mean the same people would need to find another similar way of making mo…

She could be a fantastic actress but for my money it's real. Typically when someone is playing to a crowd they make damn sure they are entirely sympathetic to at the very least the people they are appealing too. In the linked video she is not doing that she is lashing out at pretty much everyone and it's this type of behavior someone who is very hurt/scared might do and very unlikely behavior from someone whos playing at a roll.

This will end up with a california school being sued for not upholding their own policies when a man accuses a woman of raping him. All you have to do is think about how society treats men and the nigh universal outlook that men automatically consent to sex. Under this law I would confidently say that at minimum 25% of sexual encounters are goign to technically be rape by this laws standard not of women but of men because any women that is at all aggressive doesn't bother asking a man if he want…

This article completely ignores relational aggression which is very problematic as its whole premise is that men are more aggressive than women which is not in fact true if you include relational aggresion. What is true is male a female aggression tends to show in different ways with men more likely to be overtly aggressive (physical violence, direct threats etc) and women more likely to be covertly aggressive (emotional manipulation, indirect threats, physical violence by proxy, etc).

While detectives used to post ads suggesting an underage teen or child was available for sex, they now routinely post more innocuous personal ads of adults on traditional dating sites. When men – many of them under 25 with no criminal history - respond, officers switch the bait and typically indicate their age is really 14 or 15 years old. However, sometimes the storyline isn't switched until the men, who were looking for legal love, already start falling for the undercover agent. ... Other exam…

Supporters say investigators would have to determine whether consent had been given by both parties instead of focusing on whether the complainant resisted or said no. I don't think they understand that if they actually enforce this in a gender based way that (in at least 75% of all encounters) men by their standards will have been raped by the women as men's consent is almost always assumed.

She cited the NIPSV 2010 report, I'm sure she's aware of men being raped by women. The report that specifically segregates women raping men as "made to penetrate," many feminists cite that study while ignoring women raping men, she would not be the first or the last.

Men, on average compared to women, do want sex more often and more indiscriminately Strangely enough 120 years ago they thought the exact opposite that women were constantly wanting sex and thinking about and men could live with or without it. Perhaps you are incapable of thinking about anything but sex but I know for myself it's quite possible for me to be in the presence of a female and think about other things. She very clearly listed a number of types of rape and also clearly threw men a bone saying 'men can be raped by other men,' what she failed to list, even though its quite prevalent, is women raping men. You're conflating gender roles, gender identity and gender traits. Nurturing is often considered a gender trait meaning its something society thinks women do more or better than men. This doesn't mean women are better at it only that society commonly believes they are. So yes this study confirms that the gendering of the specific trait of nurturing is a social construct. But that doesn't mean all things about gender are a social construct. The very existence of trans people shows that there is a…

No the meaning completely changes, what it actually means is not that the only thing that is interesting about you is your naked body but it is a challenge to those women to throw away the idea that they should get points or credit for being a women and contribute things of substance that have nothing to do with their body. It is also a last ditch attempt to shame them into not bringing the gender dichotomy into an anonymous forum where it should not matter.

There have been studies showing that emotional pain is far worse for most people than physical pain even in the moment and this completely discounts that emotional pain can often continue far longer than physical pain. Because like I said we did not immediately approve it because I wanted some opinions of mods he was informed of that and very quickly I told him we were approving it he then chose to delete it. http://www.reddit.com/r/MaleSupportNetwork/comments/2934er/fear_of_women_given_up_finding_a_girlfriend/

What he said is not actually the chain of events. BTW at least half of our mods Identify as straight up MRAs the others identify as egalitarians were just trying to build a sub that about helping men not about feminism or the MRM.

No I was asking mods some questions about how we wanted to deal with a post that was heavily filled with MRA rhetoric when are trying to avoid as much ideology as we can, after which I told you I would approve it at which point you deleted your post

What I find amusing is shes essentially saying the most important thing for our country in a president is that they are a women while being the wife of the president that essentially undermined the chance of the same women shes stumping for in the last election. If its all that important why exactly was she supporting her husband last election?
/r/MensRights24/06/14 03:28 PM

Yeah not so much, shes not good for men no doubt but shes no worse than our current president I seriously doubt her being president will lead to anything that extreme it certainly will not be good for men but it likely will be just more of the same which is things getting steadily worse.

The problem of course being that both assume problems that do not exist and even if they did are ridiculously radical solutions such as cutting off ones arm to remove hangnails.

As someone else noted its not that hard to alter a web page itself by editing through inspect element. And being the creator of said subreddit I know for a fact you're lying. Yup look here Fake Mod List See how easy it is to put someone on the list who wasn't there. According to this you're a mod over at our sub, go ahead and analyse the picture you will find it wasn't doctored because it takes 30 seconds to change the html before you take a screenshot.

It should actually be relatively easy to show them they are wrong even without having them accept that an erection is partially involuntary. Simply ask them is its possible to be sexually attracted to someone and still not want to have sex at that point in time with that person? It really can be that simple. Say a man thinks a woman is gorgeous and given other circumstances would have sex no questions asked but he happens to be married and in love so he says no. The women pursues aggressively. T…

As soon as I read your reply I knew what video that was. Probably the only video I have seen that has a chance of getting through to some of the hypocrites out there. So the sooner MRA's and Feminists both understand that this is the one issue they need to work together the better. I think you will be hard pressed to find an MRA that is pro FGM in fact I would bet a large sum of money that you will find vastly more pro MGM MRAs than pro FGM MRAs.

Can we prove it? That when things are averaged out male power was equal to or less than female power? You can but the problem is there are a few bullshit statistics out there that poison the well. For example there's a statistic that many feminists quote that says that women are most of the poor in america. I actually thought about this before if I was a rapist and knew I was going to be caught with these laws and preponderance of evidence the best defense I can do is to accuse my victim of rape before they do. Now they have to prove they didn't and even if they counterclaim rape it looks bad on their part as it looks like a response. And sadly the type of people who habitually rape will socially manipulate like this.

The law it pretty much says you need to be able to read her mind as if she is thinking "no" its your job to know that. Affirmative consent” is an affirmative, unambiguous, and conscious decision by each participant to engage in mutually agreed-upon sexual activity. If by all outward appearances shes saying yes but she claims she didn't mean it you're screwed unless you can prove what she was thinking was yes.

I'm going to repost something I posted about this very issue on /r/FeMRADebates Link to my post Link to the Law It honestly doesn't matter what you have taped or have witnesses all the complainant has to do is say "I said yes, but I didn't actually mean yes," and by law the accused has to prove they meant yes. According to the UN 30% of women worldwide never experience violence of any kind during their life. This include shoving and pushing or worse. Erin Buzuvis, a law professor at Western New England University who writes the Title IX Blog, said claims by men of sex discrimination under Title IX would be difficult to prove. Among other things, it would require men to show that women accused of sexual assault received more lenient treatment — and there are few such cases, if any, she said. Maybe I'm crazy but doesn't the fact there are so few cases of women being charge with the crime show prima facie evidence that women are being treated i…

So the defining factor of being ice is that it is H2O in a solid state. Actually that is not how language works. I think were talking about two different things (hopefully). IMO your worth as to existing or your right to be alive and happy should not be determined outside yourself, while you can do so, its inherently dangerous. Every person should be worth being alive and to be happy at least unto themselves.

Why is a separate sub necessary for women who want to support mens rights? It is not necessary, two different groups of women made those subs for some reason (honestly I'm not sure why) but neither is very active because most women post on the main sub. Why are so many posts dedicated to denigrating feminism in general and women who may associate with feminism? There a strong anti-feminist streak for many reasons but I'm going to quote my own reason from another sub (On that thread are other rea…

The father blaming the NRA is not right, but the media that made it happen him is worse.. how disgusting, to drag a grieving father in front of the cameras, to make a spectacle of him. This made me tear up, how fucking callous can someone be to do that to a human being. Someone in mourning just isn't going to be rational and will strike out at anything at all.

Do you consider yourself to be a member of the men's rights movement? Yes What do you consider being a member to mean? It's very simple, the term MRA stands for Men's rights Advocate/activist, so if you either advocate or are an activist in the cause of giving men/boys as much equality as is possible and righting wrongs against men/boys in general then you qualify. Do you think that the majority of people that call themselves a member would agree with your definition? Yes. Possibly with some qua…

People kept talking about "MRAs/Pick Up Artists". What?! Why the heck do those things get lumped together? That's like me saying "Feminists/strippers". Well put. There is a point when someone says something so utterly stupendous that you literally can not think of a response. I think it has something to do with at a base level realizing that if what they just said is representative of their thought process then talking to a piece of celery might be more productive.

I refuse to believe all feminist hate men. It is not that all feminists hate men I am extremely anti-feminism but that doesn't mean some feminists are not good people. What it means is there are certain core values that are shared by almost all feminists. Such as the belief that women historically were oppressed while men were not. That just not only do not hold up to scrutiny but completely ignore men as victims of anything. The reality is men and women for 90%+ was shit almost everyone was opp…

I have always tried to push the notion that the means should justify the ends instead. This is just as problematic a view point. If you take something bad and justify it by pointing to good then you are attempting erase the bad. It doesn't matter what order you use its going to be problematic. Ideally you would never justify bad by pointing to good but being in an imperfect world the best you can probably do is weight the good and bad and attempt to the least harm for the most benefit.

paper abortion FYI the better term for it is Legal Parental (or Parental) Surrender The reason is while this does mimic an ability women have to surrender the obligation of parenthood through abortion, abortion is not the only means women currently have to avoid parental obligations. Women may also legally abandon or give up their children for adoption and while technically both abilities are gender neutral they rely on physical and legal custody of the child which is rarely ever given to the fa…

Anyone who honestly believes that having a boner means you're aroused either a) doesn't have a penis or b) has never been around one. Another thing that gets completely thrown out the window is even if you are aroused it doesn't mean you want to have sex. If I was married I guarantee I would meet women that I find attractive and given other circumstances (I was not married) I would have willing sex with them. So yes I might be attracted and yes I could be aroused that does not mean I want to hav…

Multiple comments on this thread are complaining about the 1 in 4 number and completely missing that the most damaging issue with the dissemination of inaccurate numbers of sexual assault is that they have been used to inflate female victimization at the expense of men. So while inaccurate numbers are just that, inaccurate, if they are being inaccurate and hyperbolic about both men and women its not near as much of a problem as when they only over state the victimization of women. Yes more accur…

So, MRAs, is HIV, and the lack of public support for HIV awareness, along with exorbitant treatment costs, an issue for the men's rights movement? The simple answer is a question. Does this issue affect men in a significant manner? If so then it is a men's right issue. So to answer, yes.

You've been misled that there is only good and bad feminists. There are reasonable sounding feminists that still hold ridiculous ideas they just sound reasonable in relation to radical feminists. If a feminist sounds reasonable you have to ask yourself is it because they actually care about women and men having equality in both privilege and obligations or is it because in comparison to radical feminists they are not near as bad. You also need to ask yourself if they really are that reasonable w…

Moreover, men are trained to keep their emotions (except anger) inside and thus if emotions enter the courtroom, the woman will be crying over her children, while the man will be screaming in anger. Guess which one is more likely to earn the sympathy of the judge? Just as important if the man cries it is viewed as a shameful act and so any sympathy he gains is countered by being seen as less of a man and hence not a worthy male provider, its a no win scenario.

It doesn't really matter to be honest, if we can get enough MRAs or like minded individual to get degrees in men studies and then get tenure we will start controlling the voice in academia regarding men's issues. I'm not sure if there are any sub resources but the biggest thing I would suggest is not to rely on public education but to find a good private school that has at least a 50/50 ratio of male /female teachers and to be aware of common developmental issues boys tend to be diagnosed with such as ADHD, Dyslexia and Asperger's. I also support GSM rights but I have a hard time in this instance because The SPLC is pure poison (at least at this point and time), regardless of any good they do any group associating with them really needs to get as far away as possible. That terminology is quite biased. It would make far more sense that negative freedoms would be one that place restrictions on you. Restrictions are almost never associated with a positive outcome. I don't disagree with what you just said but it is kind of off point form what I was saying that giving ground and accepting studies we know are biased will not help men. To me it's as much an issue for men as it is about feminists. For me, men are actually the main issue preventing progress on many of the issues we discuss here. When I discuss issues relating to father's rights for instance, I find ordinary (non-feminist) women quite receptive, but men are unbelievable - 'you should have worked…

...as domestic abuse and violence stats are currently compiled... But that is the problem isn't it. In the 1800's as statistics and science were compiled people knew that indigenous people through out the world were lesser than European stock. There were whole branches of science dedicated to proving this and it was generally accepted at the time. If in the beginning your data has been corrupted by bias you will never get unbiased statistics. We know for a fact that humans are prone to be biased…

it's a perfectly fair point, and I suspect you're correct. I really hate this attitude from people that think compromise is equal to rationality or empathy. What we know is the statistics are biased and that every one in society has a bias towards women and against men. So the only reasonable conclusions are. We need to get multiple years of studies that have as little bias as possible before we will approach the truth of what is happening in DV. Any hunches, beliefs or theories anyone comes up …

I do also think it makes sense that men are going to dish out more physical damage than women will just because men are on average 20% larger, hit harder, etc. But that should NOT factor into who needs services more or not as its a completely separate issue (who's initiating DV). Just because something seems to "make sense" does not mean it is true, for most people it "makes sense" that men are not DV victims. The actual truth is until we get unbiased statistics we will not know and we are very …

Adoption as an infant in the US is not bad for the child (legal abandonment leads directly to infant adoption). Infant adoptions have such a high demand that people can be very choosy about who gets to adopt those babies. Adoption only is problematic for children over a certain age as the demand plummets. The only people I have ever heard drone on about the "welfare of the child" in relation to infant adoption are super hardcore Traditionalists that put ideology over basic reason.
