He shouldn't have to participate in the household? Shouldn't take over with the kids? Shouldn't clean any messes or anything that are made after he gets home? Most jobs that provide a level of income that allow one person to stay at home without financial struggles aren't blue collar labor intensive jobs. If there are financial struggles then usually the working spouse is not just coming home they're heading to a 2nd job and coming home and going straight to bed and neither spouse is living a go…

The percentage of people who live in one income households like OP is describing is fairly low in current times. Also some of the disconnect people see is daily vs weekly chores. Like if one person does the dishes all week and one person cuts the grass every Saturday those 2 things probably take close to the same amount of time overall but the perception of daily vs weekly seems imbalanced. There's also the issue of kids, if someone is home full-time with multiple kids who are not in full time s…

having a step parent As a step dad it's not a bad thing as long as all the adults in the situation are able to be adults and not be petty assholes. Me, my wife and my daughter's biological father all go to events, sports, back to school nights ect together. Was it difficult at times? Sure, like when I paid for her birthday party and she ran to him when he showed up (and didn't pay shit) but also it was about her being happy not about me and that shit passes over the years.

This is the only sane comment here, we're probably the only ones who read the article. Nearly everything in there is a common sense approach to reducing repeat offenses and preventing crime in the first place. This should be an across the board measure.

As I said in my original response to your bullshit "families with young children, elderly and disabled are first to be evacuated" and the reason for that is because they would slow down the overall evacuation. This is not bias this is logic. The Haitian situation is significantly more nuanced than you are arguing. The program you're using as proof of sexism was instituted because men were violently taking all the food and the goal of food distribution centers in disaster areas is to attempt to d…

But I’ve still seen “women and children first” applied in recent disaster situations, such as the 2009 crash of a U.S. Airways flight. They rescued women and children first. So it still happens, and we should object to that kind of sexism. You're just saying shit, there's no legitimate basis behind this comment. I assume you're talking about the Hudson River crash, the one where everyone survived. In fact "women and children first" would be in direct violation of the NTSBs evacuation protocol wh…

Trump had basically nothing to do with any of that. Presidents in general have little to do with the current economy during their current term. Most economic changes are generally a result of policies from 2 presidential terms ago. 2016-2020 would have resulted from things done during Obama's first term, not necessarily Obama directly but things that were passed during that timeframe. Similarly to the current downturns aren't particularly due to this term of Trump, nor Biden but things passed du…

It's using average, not median. So the numbers would be highly inaccurate for the real median person. Averages are pretty terrible to use in these types of statistics and often paint incorrect pictures.

Well the median rent on a 1br apartment in the US is already pretty much what your entire monthly spend was in your example. So either you live somewhere for free or have something extremely cheap.

Sometimes it's toxic relationships. Sometimes it's a lifestyle change that doesn't fit with how they want to move their life forward. Sometimes they didn't like those friends that much to begin with and use their new relationship as an excuse to dip out. There was a number of friends I dropped almost immediately after getting into a relationship with my wife because they didn't live the life I was trying to live, my wife dropped friends too. The ones I kept were people I could move forward with …

How young were you when you noticed girls were given more leeway than boys? I never noticed that personally, what I noticed was that different actions were treated differently depending on the gender of the person doing it.

Logically, our species doesn’t have this many people that aren’t “natural” (as in, being hetero creates new life which is the point of life to begin with - survive and make more of you) The number is around 10% of the population, that's like 800 million people. And realistically the actual number is likely higher because there are still some highly populated countries that will kill you for being gay/lesbian ect. More than likely the rise is more associated with the general acceptance from socie…

Almost everybody I know who contracted thyroid cancer was vaccinated (covid, flu, tentnus, and others) a few months prior to diagnosis. Correlation and causation, yes, something is going on. What is your sample size of "almost everyone" you know? There are plenty of hormonal factors in play throughout society, but empty statements don't help create conversations.

80% of divorces are initiated by women It's more like 70% settle for an average guy who can't match up to the long line of Chad and Tyrones that they had in their twenties. Way to insult men on a men's sub, good job homie. Shit like this comment is why men's rights can't be taken seriously by the general public (men and women).

There is no way to separate the possible bias into a gendered discussion because it's going to be drastically different from position to position, company to company, industry to industry. Having an overall discussion of hiring practices is more beneficial and valuable than just ranting. If you want to talk about shared experiences without having a legitimate discussion about the overall state of hiring practices post to askmen. I feel like that's just a wild assumption It's not, this is a question bound to elicit emotional answers that have little to no data behind them. People of other genders always express the problems they are facing and how they can be improved. And those problems are often emotionally charged with little to no data behind them. The way you framed the question isn't going to elicit answers with actionable items or things that are able to be proven, it will create a circle jerk of here say and blam…

Any answer you get will be nothing but emotionally charged guessing or an anecdote that doesn't really matter in absence of larger data sets. Realistically everyone man or woman has experienced some hiring bias in their life, however there's no legitimate way to know in 99% of cases because it's simply not getting the job.

No it means to look at everyone equally and not bias towards people who look like you. Everyone has bias towards their "tribe" whether they think they do or not. People other than white guys are actually just as capable as white guys belive it or not. So when the Black guy or the woman is hired over the White guy it doesn't mean that they were discriminated against.

The data collection is more for uncovering the bias. If you have a manager for example who is only hiring people of a certain race/sex/ect even with a talent pool that is equally qualified you can see that clearly via the data points. It may not even be intentionally malicious (it also could be) but it's worth a discussion at a certain point.
/r/MensRights24/02/25 03:28 AM

Your points are exactly what well implemented DEI programs are. They are meant to simply expand the interview pool and to look for unconscious bias within hiring decisions. "DEI hire" has just become a code word for "Black person/woman/ect isn't qualified because they are Black/female/ect"

New people regardless of gender often start at a higher salary. 20+ years ago I got a job as a bowling machine mechanic and I was making $2 an hour more than the guy who was training me. They gave him a raise when he (no lie) slept with the bosses daughter (same age as us) then threw a bowling pin at him. But when you are getting promoted internally it's usually a percentage raise, when new people come in the base starting rate is usually higher than it was a few years prior causing Sr people to…

Because Disney owns or has some interest in like half of the entertainment industry and nearly every film produced has some tie to Disney in some capacity. Whenever a headline reads "Disney..." it's usually some click bait bullshit to get people pissed one way or another due to the main brand having a connection with kids movies historically

Same store means nothing. In any mixed product store the woman's clothing section will always be bigger with more selection. Department stores break everything down to dollars per sqft. If product A sells for $1 and product B sells for $2 and occupy the same amount of space for it to make sense product A has to sell at 2x the rate of product B. Women buy more clothes than men on average meaning they can pack a bigger section with more products. Go into any clothing store that specifically caters…

treat people differently on the gender for no reason Money. I don't get why this is a difficult concept to understand. Buying habits are not difficult to understand, it's all marketing. It's why companies can slap a picture of a mountain on a plastic bottle, fill it with tap water and sell it for $3. I put the blue and pink in quotes for a reason, it's really a marketing tax.

There absolutely is "gender" tax on items. Take razors for example, basic disposable razors marketed to men are cheap af, and basic razors marketed towards women are overpriced as fuck. Who gives a fuck what the "media" says. I'm going through the process and my primary spoke about reversals and the urologist during the consultation did so too. If your doctors aren't going over all the details for informed consent then they're not doing their job and liable for a lawsuit. They should also go over it again on the day of the procedure and have you sign off on it.

Yea because women never have transactional based sex or transactional relationships...you know except for the women having transactional based sex with men who are seeking transactional based sex. The only difference is that there are less women paying for sex, however there are women who do. The major difference is that an average looking woman who is seeking no strings attached sex will have a much easier time finding it than an average looking man.

Men like variety Proof of this is to look at gay men. Most gay men have had hundreds of sex partners. Hetero men would like that too, but women don't want commitmentless sex that much. This is asinine, it's statements like this that perpetuate the negative stereotype of men being nothing but sex craved fiends who if given the opportunity would stick their dick in anyone. This opinion may be controversial but Birds of Prey 2020 is also great because it's Harley Quinn story. That movie was terrible. The opposite is the SheHulk movie which is about making Hulk look weak compared to SheHulk. First it was a show not a movie, and second no it wasn't. There was the cringy ass speech she gave but Hulk literally wasn't even on the planet after episode 2 and there was like 2 fight scenes in the whole season. That show was basically Ally McBeal with superpowers.

They don't? They're more likely to ignore adhd or call the kid lazy. Talk to anyone who was diagnosed as an adult, we were left to suffer while being told we weren't trying or were lazy or dumb. I had trouble even getting my kid accommodations even after his diagnosis.

Lots of energy and not wanting to sit still for 8 hours a day obviously = adhd/hyperactivity disorder. Therefore, hyperactivity disorder means medications to make them sit still for 8 hours a day. None of that has anything to do with adhd. Adhd is hyperactivity in the brain not the body. Fidgeting and inability to sit still can be a sign but it's not a diagnosis on it's own. Adhd medication will not make you sit still for 8 hours, and if stimulants are given to someone who doesn't actually have …

That’s nothing like what they are saying. How's it not? They put adhd in quotes talked about being pumped full of drugs "to keep them still" which isn't even what adhd medication does. Stop looking for something to be offended about Asking to clarify a statement is looking to be offended? Did you know what it's like to grow up in a household with parents who hated each other? Neither situation is good for the kids. Sticking it out for the kids generally creates more animosity. The divorced people I know with the best co-parenting situations are the ones who called it quits before they hated each other, it allowed them to actually make the right decisions and provide the best transition period and support for the kids. I always try to look at this things from this perspective. Is there a gender advantage in the normal population, like is there a straight genetic reason one gender is over represented in something. Then I look at outliers in talent in that specific thing, is there an obvious trait that the best of the best share, or does some small advantage become a bigger advantage as you rise through levels of it. Finally I look at social reasons, was one gender kept out of something historically. Most things…

Men are terrible at supporting each other. We are fantastic at creating surface level friendships but we are terrible at going deeper than that. Women are much better at creating deep friendships with each other. To really support someone it takes a deep understanding and trust and we in general avoid being vulnerable with each other. Which in turn leaves us with minimal to no support network.

We have a family friend that got divorced. 2 kids she made something like $90k a year, he made around $20 an hour. When they divorced he was ordered to pay $1500 a month in child support nearly half of his gross income. He was basically poor while she went on to buy a huge new house and live the good life, and made him drive over an hour each way to see the kids because she refused to drive them anywhere to meet him.

Visible abs have absolutely 0 to do with core strength. When I was powerlifting I focused on core strength alot because it's the ground work for being strong.
