Gotta be careful, that depends on the state. In NJ for example, air gun purchases require the same permit that firearm purchase do. Possession of a slingshot is also a felony in NJ.

Just so you know I work for a firearms legal defense program and there's no loophole for your possession. Just because nobody stops you from milling an 80% lower doesn't make it legal for you to own or possess it. I don't care and think the law is stupid, I view gun ownership as an inalienable rights, but that doesn't mean the police and courts won't charge and convict you.

Never hurts. I was just having a conversation the other day with a buddy of mine about people who will 'talk just to talk'.
