Since 1982, an astonishing 119 mass shootings have been carried out in the United States by male shooters. In contrast, only three mass shootings (defined by the source as a single attack in a public place in which four or more victims were killed) have been carried out by women. https://www.statista.com/statistics/476445/mass-shootings-in-the-us-by-shooter-s-gender/ Interestingly enough one of the first school shootings was perpetrated by a female teenager. Very much an exception though and not…

I studied Islamic Studies in history, mostly because growing up my best friend was Muslim and I saw her struggle with her religion, culture and family. Her lack of faith was eventually discovered by her family and she was flown back to the old country and I never heard from her or seen her again. No idea what happened to her or if she's dead or alive. Another acquaintance of mine, who I met through said friend, had the same thing happen to her. These were both two modern, very-Canadian women who…

I'm Catholic, mostly for cultural reasons. Growing up my family was extremely religious. Anyway now with my daughters, we pretty much focus on Mary. This lends well to Catholicism as we love our Blessed Mother, so it's not too difficult. My oldest has already been asking and asking why women can't be priests and I kind of just brush it off. I don't know what to say and I'm still dealing with my own internal misogyny as I also don't think women should be priests.

Great! Sorry I wasn't indicating that you're pro-dad bod and ranting at you. My comment was directed at our general patriarchal society.

Love this but, can we please, as a community, stop with the love for the dad bod? I know it's a real preference for some women but this whole cultural shift to dad bods being the physical ideal for men is just another shitty result of the patriarchy. Men already have lower expectations than women regarding their physical appearance. Does it really have to be lowered? Seriously. Female expectations of beauty will never be lowered in our society. No matter how many size 8's Dove puts in their comm…

She was paid 30k each time, so I guess she thought the risk was worth it. Her body, her choice in my opinion.

My cousin lives in an area where paid surrogacy is legal and has been a surrogate twice. She never felt taken advantage of or used. She told me that the surrogates at her clinic were not poor women with no other options but mostly stay-at-home moms who enjoyed being pregnant. She had a C-section with the second baby and the family hired a bi-weekly at-home nurse and a woman who came in everyday to clean and cook everyday for a month. I think this can change quite a bit with overseas surrogacy in…

I have 3 kids, 1 singleton and a set of identical twins. I laughed in my husband's face when he suggested names from his culture. So, the kids are going to have his Croatian last name as well as Croatian first names. So the kids will seemingly be 100% Croatian while their mother is actually French-Canadian. Fuck that shit. My girls have names that are French as fuck. I love names but can't even go on namenerds that much because all of the posts about "my husband doesn't like my name choices!!!!"…

I like the general vibe of this post but disagree with some points. I don't think the feminine touch or instinctual good taste exists. I think women are taught by society that their appearance is the most important aspect of themselves and so women work harder to look presentable and are more subconsciously in tune with trends and style because of our position in society. I think it's a little harmful to tell women that they should just know what to wear and how to wear it. This shit is fed to u…

Yup, very true. A bit off topic but I had an interesting conversation with my mother about her past experience as a poor white woman. My parents have always been very traditional even today compared to most boomer White Canadians today. I asked my mom about why her and my dad never had a hippy phase in the 70s she said that that whole movement was mostly reserved for well-off white people who had the means and privilege to attend university. My parents are also French-Canadian which was another …

The most recent wave of intersectional feminism almost chooses POC men over white women to appear less racist. It's disgusting.

O Fantasma. It's a very strange film. I first saw it on Bravo or some channel like that when I was a preteen. The guy in it is my ideal man, face-wise. His character in the movie is creepy and uh, gay but the actor is so hot. Maybe he's the reason why I'm into gay porn lol The actor retired from acting to help with his mothers' farm in Portugal. At one time I had dreams of moving to Portugal to find and marry him lol.

I recently watched the movie Ghost and was surprised about how many scenes there were with shirtless men. Swayze and the male supporting actor were shirtless quite often in the film. I thought to myself "wow, this is great!" and realized that this must be how straight men feel when they watch, pretty much any film or TV show.

I used to watch porn about once a week or so up until whenever pornhub got fully called out. I only watched gay (man on man) porn. I have never been into or wanted to watch straight porn as it is clearly 100% for straight men. I don't want to see naked women, it actually turns me off to see naked women. Men in gay porn are actually hot and I dunno, maybe I'm a weirdo but seeing two guys go at it turns me on. One time me and three guys, two straight and one gay man, were talking about porn and th…

I can see once us millennials and gen Z's reach our 50s and 60s platonic multi-female households will become common. Think Golden Girls but unfortunately less floor space and hopefully less fucking house guests coming in-and-out. I think if this does happen millennial and gen Z men will plummet in their quality of life.

Yup. And then men from all over the world funnel into Thailand to take advantage of this disgusting yet tolerated cultural institution that exploits impoverished women which often have to choose between selling their bodies and having food to eat. If you want nightmare fuel go over to the subreddit for the city of Pattaya and look up gogo bars or blow job bars. Tons of posts from men anxiously looking for the best brothels with other men giving them traveller tips such as make sure you give the …

My mom has a friend who is from Thailand. Her friend believes that all men need sexual variety and should be allowed to cheat on their wives. She said that in Thailand it's very common for married men to visit prostitutes. It's pretty much tolerated and expected, like how we expect men to watch porn over here. Imagine if married men visiting prostitutes was the norm here? And oh but of course married women having affairs is considered VERY taboo and shameful in Thailand. So men can cheat, women …

The bitter old woman is a trope made by the patriarchy to spin the fact that women often wake up and realize the absolute fucking BS that men spew at us in our society. As we get older and wiser women start to care less and less about men. Our society revolves around the wants and needs of men so this is not allowed. So we have this bitter old woman and cat lady trope that have been fucking shoved down our throats up until probably the 2010s or so. 30+ women are waking up like they have been for…

The majority of women in the world live very similar to how Western women lived during the 50s, or even the Middle Ages.

I did this. I was newly separated from my husband and found out I was pregnant. He was trying to use it as a tool to get me back. When he realized I was not going to keep the baby he threatened to tell my VERY traditional Catholic family that I was going to get an abortion. I guess he realized that he didn't want to burn that bridge but I went through with the abortion and have no regrets. I'm not bringing another child into this mess.

Uh...I think a lot of straight women appreciate seeing attractive naked men and I think that that is perfectly fine and natural. Like I once fell into a bush when checking out a hot, shirtless guy out washing his car while I was running. Definitely wasn't looking at his hands that's for sure.

This is my strategy tbh. Straight men are never going to stop objectifying women so I think, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Let's objectify the fuck outta them like they've been doing to us for centuries.

I'm from France, where there is a huge MENA population. Many are very normal and act even more French than I do, an indigenous Frenchwoman. But yes there are many who are horrible. Street harassment is a huge problem in France, and most (but not all) of the men who do this are MENA or Black. In the major cities it is a very, very big problem. You can find documentaries and news reports about it on YouTube. France is a latin country so unfortunately our culture can be quite machismo like Italy an…

My girls are 7 and 4. I've already started them on their FDS education. Pretty much just the normal "girls are just as smart and capable of boys" but I slip in some more poignant stuff every now and then. Actually I guess I really started their FDS education when I left their dad after I found out he was buying porn on only fans!

That is the patriarchy telling us that "men age like wine" and attributing the youthful glow to women, and not men. So when women are 20 and young and "pretty" it's hot, but when men are 20 and young and "pretty", they're not ripe yet and we should go for the hot 30 year old, when we ourselves are also 20.

Currently separated. We've been in couple's therapy for about 3 months now, on and off. A big part of our therapy sessions cover emotional labour and to be fair, he had gotten a lot better, even before I left. Well I found out that his mommy was buying all of his gifts to the kids and other people in his family. Our therapist very professionally tore him a fucking new one in our last session. It was delicious.

Thank you for your response. Again, my intention was not to offend. The facts that I stated about Islam are all correct to my knowledge but I agree with you. Religion can be very fulfilling. Even though I know Catholicism is chock-full of anti-women dogma, it still provides me with comfort for some reason. Just a question though. I noticed your description about the divorce procedures had a lot of "should"s in it. So Islamically speaking, a man doesn't have to do all that, correct? He can just s…

Yea, those were huge, empowering societal revisions for 8th century Arabia, but that's where Islam's feminist approach ended, in the 8th century. A man can divorce you by saying 3 words, while a woman has to go through certain steps to divorce her husband. Even if she is being abused. He can say 3 words to you to divorce you. But you cannot. Your legal testimony is worth half of a man's testimony in Islam. Inheritance done the Islamic way means that you would inherit 50% of what your brother inh…

Oh I don't know maybe women are more cautious about having casual sex because 1) they can get pregnant 2) STI's 3) they can get forced to do something sexually that they don't want to 4) they can get killed 5) women have been slut-shamed since the dawn of civilization Maybe it's one of those reasons? I dunno though! Maybe we just don't like sex teehee!

HAHAHAAHHAHAHAHA MEN ARE SO DUMB AND LAZY BUT GOD BLESS EM FOR TRYIN' ! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA Fuck that whole mentality. This mentality is pretty much responsible for all of the emotional labour that is expected of women.

They also can't get pregnant and are less likely to get STI or fucking killed during a one-night-stand. I agree that on average men have a higher libido than woman but I also believe that gender norms and socialization have a huge influence on the sexual dynamics between men and women.

You're saying that as a bad thing but a lot of women would rather those things to be their life than being a married woman with children.

So my husband wanting to fuck other women is perfectly, 100% normal and means that he's a normal man. But me desiring other men means my marriage is eventually going to fall apart. Can you not see how this thinking if part of the very patriarchal views which I touched upon earlier? If a woman so much as thinks of another man in a sexual way, it's splitsville for her and her man. It's all absolute trash and I take solace in knowing that women are waking up to the pure BS we've been fed.

I'll let him know! I'm sure he'll agree that a sexist middle-aged man's view on female sexuality is 100% accurate.

I dunno, maybe I'm an exception then because I actively want to fuck men other than my husband. Obviously I don't because I'm married. I probably watch more porn than my husband does as well. I don't deny that higher testosterone levels in man create a higher sex drive on average, but I think a lot of women oppress their sexuality because we're taught from a young age that our sexuality is shameful, while straight men are taught not expressing their sexuality is unmanly.

First off, not all of us are American nor involve ourselves in American politics. OK so have called trans people trannies but does that make it right? It's okay to just run around saying tranny when there is a universally accepted, less offensive term for this group of people? Do you go around calling Black people the N word because "hahahah that's what someone people call them!". Also my sister is a trans woman so it's not just a cause of the week to me and also because maybe I'm a decent human…

LOL Jesus fucking Christ. This was like one of those comments where racists say "Now I know some black people and they..." and go on to say some stupid racist shit and feel justified because the 2 black people they know happened to behave a certain way.

I think this has more to do with conditioning. Men are taught that it's OK (and manly) to have emotionless sexual desires We're taught to feel ashamed of our sexuality so pure sexual thought makes us feel dirty or unfeminine. Ancient Athenian men practiced wide-spread homosexuality with probably a lot of straight or mostly straight men. Never doubt what social conditioning can achieve. We've been living in a patriarchal society for thousands and thousands of year so it makes sense to me that it …

Usually women who wait until marriage because of moral reasoning are not the same kind of women who post nude pictures for everyone to see. You, and I don't agree with this expression or reasoning at all, didn't want to "give it all away" and now seem to be giving it to everyone with an internet connection.

I think women do suffer from the Coolidge effect but are pushed down hard by society to not admit it to themselves because they'll feel disloyal and slutty. I feel like the other answers to the next 4 questions would be the same as any man. I see a hot guy on the street and wonder about him sexually. I watch this Japanese show and there are some hot guys on it and I wonder what it would be like to be with an East Asian guy. My husband is very good looking but still, I think it would be ideal to …

There's no difference in biology. You've just been socialized to think of yourself as a slut and a cheat if you don't show 100% devotion to your current male partner. Watch porn with hot guys in it or google image hot male celebrities with no clothes on to break the brainwashing. I'm married and my husband is hot af but you better believe that I'm checking out hot men anytime I see them.
