I use it, and I've seen it used that way elsewhere, in a broader sense. All rights-based movements frame their struggle in terms of systemic oppression, because sometimes that brand of institutional oppression does exist. Any gay person prosecuted for sodomy or any dad traited unfairly in family court would know it. Le Monde, a centre-left newspaper which is most often referred to as the most well respected and influential medium in my country, has the same problem and wouldn't pass the test of switching up the genders. A jury worth its salt would have had the charges dismissed by way of jury nullification. If there is ONE instance in your whole life where your duty as a citizen lies in stopping a legal system that has gone way way off track, it is this one. Female discount sentencing is one thing, but oppression and sheer disproportion between the harm done and the punishment is a whole other beast. Two wrongs can not possibly result in a right.

Watching sexual acts between consentent adults is a victimless thing, though. There is logic in the assumption that we should benefit from the greater amount of freedom available that does not infringe upon other folks' rights. This assumption lies at the heart of modern liberal democracies. There is also logic in the fact that banning trivial things that most people use leads to criminal justice being trivialized as well.

Nobody would suggest telling people 'not to commit robbery' as a crime fighting strategy because it's understood that robbery is an odd thing that's not part of our culture. We really would be better off without the us versus them mentality. In any case radical feminists won't have anything to do with us. The general public already tends to think of them as loonies anyways (rightly so). No need for a flame war.
