Not a post that necessarily fits the norm here. Me likes. Being a fairly recently divorced guy of 42 (after 15 years of marriage), the more thoughtful stuff I read here is almost as good as a paid therapy session with my counselor. E.g. this article, the stuff on inner game, the AMA with Neil Strauss come to mind.

Tell her she scares you a little bit. Chicks hate that. She'll want to know why and then you can trickle a few truthful details or even recant. It won't matter after the initial, "Truth is, you scare me a little bit." Her feelings for you will start to dissolve away like a urinal cake.

Do you want it? If so, then everything said so far is right. I'd have a field day with the texts and responding back playfully. She texts: "love you" You text back: "<boyfriends name> is that you? Is this a test? You're looking to kick my ass aren't you." or "I know its you <boyfriend>. I think <girl> is great and all but I'm pretty sure she has no interest in me. So quit testing me." etc. She texts "Miss you." You text "I miss you too <boyfriend>. We should hang out. We can swap horror stories …

Is there a particular dish you like, or one you feel like you make very well? Then do that. It's just food.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. In retrospect the warning signs we there way back before we got married. I think now her lack of sex drive is abnormal and has ties to both body image issues and even some hormonal issues with the pill.

I married a girl I knew from high school. We didn't start dating until I was out of college. I ran into her when she was working at the mall. The only reason I talked to her was because I was doing seduction techniques without knowing that's what I was doing. I.e. I was in a mood where I didn't really care what people thought, I was just being friendly and talking and being myself. I talked to her that day, and it went from there.

Dude...I'm 41, getting a divorce after almost 20 years with the same woman, and I've had sex exactly once in the last three years. I would kill to be you. And I use to be just like you. I remember back to when I was a freshman in college and I was petrified to talk to people. Not just girls, anyone. I did manage to make some guy friends after a while, but never had much luck with girls. Let me be the guy you will be 20 years from now yelling back at your former self. Get out there and just eff-i…

Keep it playful. How about you approach Y with something along the lines of: Okay, so maybe that is too much too soon. I'll settle for just a date. And we can worry about the sleeping together part later. And then hit her with your plan for a date. Have a day/time and activity in mind and take control.

Dude, be true to who you are. It sounds to me like you know what the right answer is. If it were me, it sounds like you could rewrite what you have above and make it a conversation to have with her. If she's up for a no strings attached hop in the sack, then so be it. But I'd be leery of going that far without at least having a conversation that includes what you've said above. My opinion, chicks can be real psychos after you've had sex with them.

"She invited me over to her place to watch a movie later that night" You know what that means, don't you?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
