Have a calm and confident conversation about things that are emotionally positive to your audience. If you don't know what those things are, start a different conversation that will find out. A little planning, and it wouldn't take much, could go very far.

Oh, that's brilliant. I know that guy. He watched for a while then got caught teaching martial arts to some kids.

The saying goes "Hell hath no fury like a man scorned". Oh wait, no it doesn't.

There will always be a distinction between those who take something seriously and those who do not. There will also always be a those who have formed opinions before they research a subject.

That is not a depiction of Shakyamuni Buddha, that is a "deity" image or a Boddhisattva. These images are used as a memory device for specific Vajrayana practices. Source: I am Buddhist and learned this in a class.

Some things I've found: http://www.photius.com/feminocracy/facts_on_fatherless_kids.html http://fathersrights.tripod.com/stats.html http://www.fathers.com/content/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=391 http://www.fatherhoodcoalition.com/facts/facts.html http://thrivingcouples.com/2011/11/08/effects-of-fatherless-children/ Some of this directly contradicts the feminist side of things. I notice that a lot of positions are adopted because there is "no evidence" to the contrary. There is some…

Is there a text version of this anywhere? So I can fact-check it without having to type in each and every URL?

Another aspect I didn't see is the Cherokee cultural take on this. The Cherokee are a matriarchal society and children belong to and are traced through the mother rather than the father. So it would be perfectly normal for this man to allow the mother to raise the child without his interference. But when she decided to give the child up for adoption, she basically was relinquishing her rights to the child. I assume the tribal court has already ruled in his favor. Edit: grammar.

Every mother with a son should be a men's rights advocate, just like every father with a daughter should be a feminist.

Feminism just died. Let this be a lesson to us: the crazies in any movement can destroy it.

Yeah, I've heard the same thing. But that was before this study, we haven't discussed it with our doctor since.

Recent research has found that there is no safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy. It's safe to assume that the same holds true for breastfeeding because the study addressed developmental issues - which continue after birth. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1530-0277.2011.01664.x/abstract http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/757195 (free subscription required)

Some of it stems from lawsuits involving child custody issues. Let's be honest here, the women almost always get custody while the father is alienated. So it's a lot "safer" to talk to the mother and ignore the father, just in case there is some sort of custody issue.

The only reason any of my sons' healthcare providers talk to me is because I'm a medical professional. So I've taken the lead role through my wife's pregnancy and the boys' NICU stay and doctor visits. I've made a point to introduce myself and speak authoritatively about the boys. But with my daughter (now 15), it was completely different. I definitely was "just the dad". I assumed it was because the baby was a girl, but maybe that wasn't it. I think the key is for me to make it known up front t…

It's not the men's rights advocates who misunderstand feminism, it's the feminists who use it as an excuse for their own behavior. I'm sure that the "sane" feminists have a very well worked out definition of feminism. But that's like saying that "God is Love", therefore anything done in God's names (like blowing up buildings) can't be wrong. The "sane" feminists need to criticize the nuts. And if you're going to say that men don't, you don't know much about men. We really, really don't like peop…
