Bitcoin will almost certainly get replaced in the medium-term future (3-5 years would be my speculation). It was a good first attempt. But there are so many altcoins out there with vastly superior technology. Take IOTA for example, 0 transaction fees because it uses a more efficient verification method which is fundamentally different from the blockchain used by bitcoins and most other cryptos.
