Her: Oh! I decided to make dinner for my girls (this is 15 minutes before we are to meet). No manners. Or it's a test. In either case: Next. I wouldn't even have replied.

A little off-topic, perhaps: Never ever ever bang anyone who you work with. Think twice about even socialising with co-workers outside the office. Avoid the Yooman Resources department to the greatest possible extent. They are your enemy. Unlikely in your line of work, but if you will report a female manager . . . well, that's a whole subject in itself.

What evidence do you have that these "PR pieces" can be trusted? (Seeing as you are "inclined to take them at their word.") Public relations has nothing to do with honesty or impartiality. It used to be called propaganda. Dr Goebbels was a PR man. You might also take a look at the life and work of Edward Bernays, another PR man, perhaps the first. He spent his long life researching how to influence and direct the biological drives of individuals, to the profitable benefit of the elite. That's wh…

"With $50K a year in Asia you can afford a BMW with driver." Bit too broad a brush there, Sir Wanks. Cost of living varies a bit between, say, Dhaka and Tokyo.

Thanks for that. All this time I've been thinking that self-deception is what it isn't.

Sorry, not stupid women, but women who act more on feelings rather than logic. Yeah, I think I've met one or two women who fall into that category.

You've got it, Mr Crapper. When one of them says (above) that "women are yearning to be desired", she means that they are yearning to be desired by the men whom they desire.

Jeez, those editors at Salon. There's an obvious typo there. You know that guy friend you weren’t romantically interested in because he was just too nice and available? Suddenly, you’re about to hit the wall and the bad boys are banging chicks half your age. Marry the fuck out of him.

Poor form to reply to my own post, I do realise. But I thought of another possible explanation. It wasn't a shit test; it was fear. Let's say they were both in good shape when they married. Years passed, they both became flabby. Hubby announces a plan to get himself back in shape. Wifey (a) can't be bothered to make the same effort herself and (b) doesn't want him moving up the SMV ladder while she sits around eating chocolates and so (c) tells him she "doesn't like" the idea.

I'm rather sidestepping the OP's question here. Blue87g: if you marry, or even if you just live together, you are inviting the government into your relationship. You do realise this, do you? And the gummint and its agencies will normally take your wife's side in any dispute which she tells them about. If it all goes to hell, the so-called "family courts" will be dead against you. She will almost certainly get the house, custody of the children, and a big chunk of your income for years and years …

Jeez, another one whose balls are in wifey's purse. A formerly fit guy, and he would genuinely prefer to drag a gut around all day than go against wifey's wishes? Sounds like a shit test, actually. Which he failed. I don't know either of them, of course, but she may have wanted to hear this: "Don't make me say this again. Starting tomorrow, I'm leaving home an hour earlier every day and going to the gym before my shift. Subject closed."

What little interest I had in women before is completely gone. 99% the same with me. I'll be astonished if I ever again encounter a woman whose company I desire. Mind you, I'm middle-aged now, and that may also play into it. There are far more absorbing ways to spend your time.

I still dislike rap. Probably it's an age thang, baby. Such an ugly noise. Deliberately ugly, it seems to me. Doubtless I'll be voted down for finding it so. I wonder if Skip James is a new name to any of you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNftrsCMiQs Or Johnny Winter, who died last month. From 1968 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCfO2g-lFt8 Or Joy Division, seen here during their brief period of utter magnificence, and just eight months before poor Ian hanged himself. Two numbers from, d…

"My daddy was mean to me so now I have to cheat on my loving husband to prove his point." It's the exact same thing with me! Somebody yelled at me one time -- I forget the details -- and to prove his point I had to dump my cheap wife. What a weird coincidence!

A simpler initial test is blood group. If you have a family, you may already have the data you need readily available. To summarise: whatever blood group you are, and whatever blood group your wife or GF is, there are some blood groups that any child the two of you produce CANNOT be. (Of course, that is not going to help you if your wife was impregnated by some dude who is of the same blood group as you. You cannot trust all "true" results. But you can trust all "false" results.) Doctors and nur…

Guy's wife spits into his bedside water. When confronted by the guy she accuses him of insulting her. What is TRP's view of this? Stay single.

This is super dread game, and him learning that he has options. His post-BJ behavior is the very opposite of "super dread game", if we believe wifey's version of events. More like superniceguy's-complete-absence-of-game. He thinks that behaving like a chump is his best chance of saving his marriage. "HE WRITES ME POETRY!!!!" she says. Thank Christ she didn't post any of it. Even after 12 years, the husband doesn't know how to be a husband and the wife doesn't know how to be a wife. Or so it seem…

Girlfriend is still mommy's little girly at age 28, and likely will be at age 38 as well. Mommy likes to stick her nose in, uninvited and unwanted. I wouldn't want either of them in my life. Dumping the GF gets rid of both of them. (It also means that Mommy gets what she wants, i.e. rid of me, but that's just too bad.) I'd tell GF to go on her crummy date and not bother to come back.

Officially, China proclaims the sexes equal in keeping with Communist principles, and Mao Zedong said that "women hold up half the sky". Well, I'd probably be glad of an extra foot of parking space too, if I was holding up half the sky at the same time. They've only got two hands, you know.

She "doesn't let him message, comment, or like their posts"? She "DOESN'T LET HIM"? His balls are in her purse already, obviously. Explain to your cousin that Facebook is for girls. Then introduce him to motorcycles and electric guitars. Or don't. It looks like his life is pretty much over.

"The two friends that talk the most shit are the two friends that I have done the most favors for." "I want to better my life but I don't know where to start." Start by changing your friends. Drop these two out of your life right now. Get a job. To start with, almost any job will do, but a job that requires you to talk to a lot of people every day would be best. It sounds to me like you are moping around all day and thinking about yourself too much. You need some structure in your life. If it's …

Yes yes yes, RedBigMan. All we need remember is: THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ANOTHER WOMAN. (If you want one.) I've had this "It's me or X" nonsense thrown at me a couple of times by drama-seeking women. Now, I don't like drama. I prefer harmony and a quiet life. They know that. So the "Me or X" gambit immediately makes me think: (a) why do I have to listen to this? followed by: (b) well, of course, I don't followed by: (c) she's becoming more irritating anyway. This is actually a good opportunity. So …

Dazed and Confused. Stolen from Jake Holmes. LZ stole plenty of work from other artists, passing it off as their own work on their records so they copped the royalties on record sales. Willie Dixon and Bert Jansch, amongst others, also had their work stolen by LZ. Really radical, huh.

Well, this won't be much of a surprise to anyone here. You don't buckle in front of any woman, ever. Never, at any time, under any circumstances. They are programmed to despise weakness in men. Five minutes' weakness today cancels out your past twenty years of rock-like behaviour towards her.

Standard newspeak babbling. I expect you can buy this verbiage by the yard somewhere. "Define your own masculinity . . ." Translation: shut up and listen to us define it for you. "It's time to redefine masculinity." Who says? ". . . treat ourselves and others kindly and respectfully . . ." Express a differing opinion and just watch that kindness and respect pour out. ". . . move toward being the person you truly are . . ." Doesn't make sense. If I'm already "truly" there, how can I move towards …

"So what do you do for a living?" Maintain frame. That is to say, continue to treat her like your silly little sister. Say the first thing that comes into your head. Half the time when a girl asks you a question, she doesn't particularly want a solid factual reply. She'd rather be teased. And you would rather not be pigeon-holed, so if you mention an occupation at all, make it an unclassifiable one. So: "Are these your best questions?" "I plunder." "Assassin. Freelance, of course -- corporate li…

Extremely disappointing that your parents didn't back you up when you needed it. If only you'd been able to rely on them to do that: Teacher: You’re crossing the line. Do you want me to call your parents? You: Better still, sir, I'll ask them to visit the school. The four of us can sit down together and go through every piece of my work this semester, and then I will ask you how you arrived at the grade you gave me. What time would be convenient for you? You may find Monday interesting. Will you…

Jeez. She doesn't shut up, does she? And notice how your consistently logical, even-tempered, grown-up responses have not the slightest effect on her. Reading her nonsense and preparing your replies was a complete waste of your time. May I suggest that you apply this lesson to all the ex-girlfriends you have in your future. When it's over, it's over, and that means they don't get any more of your attention.

I've tried Nietzsche a few times over the years but I find him unreadable. The words clang around in my brain, I can spend an hour on a single page and still no meaning drops out. I've given up each time so far. Perhaps he lacked a good editor. Perhaps his writing is difficult to translate. Perhaps he's trying to describe something that's just too difficult for me.

Two sides to every story. Just last night I was at a club with a girl, and some white knight she had met earlier came over and accused me of harassing her. We were just fooling around and she wasn't in any danger. I felt a little embarrassed about punching him in the mouth, but as I thought about it later I think it was the right thing to do. It's way more important to be cautious and responsible than the other way around.

I can't force myself to do the mindless work involved with university. I don't know you, of course, but I bet that you can. a vast majority of university is regurgitation In that case -- and if you really do need that degree in order to enter the field you want to enter -- become (temporarily) extremely good at regurgitating. Practise it, hone it, bring it to a peak right around the time of your final exams. Then wave it goodbye and never think about it again.

"Einstein is for sure not smarter than me. He invented light, right?" No, that was me. I started off by "inventing" the sun and the moon and the stars, but then I decided it was stil too dark at night and so I "invented" electricity as well.
