I mean I think that the game and luck is part of the change of mindset. If you just accept they're out of your league and give up, you'll never get a girl you like. But if you work on improving your mindset and yourself, it makes you a lot more lucky and improves your game.

Do you have any tips for finding a reason to start a conversation? Because that's my biggest struggle.

I need to work on being able to just approach someone and talk to them. I'm finally at a place where I'm much more confident in my looks and just as a person in general, but I have no clue about approaching a random girl I'm attracted to and just striking up a conversation. And I guess actually doing it is the only real way to improve but it's so intimidating haha.

So I guess my question would be how could you improve your "game", as you put it. I played American football growing up, and I'm reminded of when we started to learn to tackle. It was scary at first, and there were some days when I would get tackled or try to tackle someone stronger than me during a drill and it would straight up hurt. However, as I continued to both tackle and get tackled during practice, I got used to it and ended up getting pretty good at both tackling and running through tac…

I'm in a similar boat to you. I believe in myself in just about every aspect of my life other than dating or interacting with women in a way beyond friendship. I can talk to women, some of my closest friends are women. But I have trouble just approaching someone I don't know and flirting, and honestly I don't know how to flirt. But I know that giving up and accepting you aren't great at it isn't going to fix it. If you give up, there is absolutely no way it'll get better. I was planning on worki…

Right, that's basically what I was talking about. I personally see more of that one situation than the OP was talking about, but that's just my life. Don't want to speak for anyone else.

I haven't necessarily experienced what you've talked about. I'd describe myself as fairly average looking but I've never had a girl I asked out act as if I'm so far out of their league that the idea of dating me is laughable. Granted, it's been a long time since I've had the time to actually date or anything like that. But what you're describing isn't something I've noticed personally or even among my friends that do go on dates more often than I do.

Pretty sure that same double standard exists in reverse. I see guys online talk about only wanting to date insanely hot women while being generally average looking or objectively unattractive. What's the point of your question?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
