Should file for divorce or wait for her to file ?Tangible benefit? Not much. But makes her be the one to respond. So you can present a financial offer that benefits you and she has to counter and negotiate up. Easier to give up something in negotiations than try to ask for more. I’ve also heard it shows the court you are more serious for willing to make the decision to call it quits vs. a passive (“I thought all was ok in my marriage”) role. So no. Nothing tangible. But us dudes need to do what we can to level the playing field. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/10/25 09:17 PM
Spreadsheet for day to day recordingI have a spreadsheet. But no idea how to send it or post a screenshot. Basically every day is a column. With rows summarizing when she left home and when returned. Then summed up the number of hours home. Number of hours interacting with the kids. Whether she helped make dinner. Whether she worked that day. Focus was on the lack of time she spends at home and even less time that she spends with the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/08/25 10:41 PM
Anyone else ever feel like they just want to punch the AP?Honestly, the AP made the divorce way easier. It was the final nail in the coffin of our marriage and made it decisive. And she had someone to jump to next, so she didn’t fight the divorce much. She would gave fought for every penny if she was left to take care of herself. So, in a way, thanks, dude. 😂 | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/08/25 10:33 PM

Online DatingTough call. I can speak from my experience and people I know, but I haven’t seen any studies on divorce rates with IRL meeting vs OLD. You also may have to consider unhappy marriages that stay married but should divorce to look at full success rates. OLD does a great job of exposing people you wouldn’t normally see and helping the introduction to occur. I think people also run in to seeing too many options online and either hold out and keep looking for better, or always thinking there is someon… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/08/25 02:48 PM
I need Legal Advice or Something. You have an interesting situation and seem somewhat content with little to lose. If you’ve already moved out, a big part of me just says roll with it. When she wants to remarry, or better yet, gets pregnant, then she’ll be motivated. Showing up for divorce court pregnant with another guy’s baby looks amazing for her character. It happened to a buddy of mine. I would at least talk to an attorney. Even if you pay for the consult, it won’t be horribly expensive. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/08/25 10:27 PM

Forensic AccountantI wish there was a way to truly penalize people for trying to lie, cheat, and hide finances. Hope it works out for you. My best friend and neighbor down the street is a forensic accountant. Soooooo nice to have him on my side! | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/07/25 05:33 PM
Divorcing due to lack of attraction…?If physical attraction is that important to you, then yes, it does matter. You don’t need to justify it to anyone else. To me, it sounds like you are on the right path to working on yourself. That is always the first step. You don’t want to make any important decisions like divorce without you being in a good place first. I know the financial piece hurts. Hate to say it, but that is life. Relationships are expensive. So is divorce. I had a VERY hard time accepting the financial loss of a failed … | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/07/25 05:31 PM
Dating after divorceJust jump in. Experience is the best teacher. Enjoy sucking at something. That’s the mentality that worked for me. Assume at least first girl is a mulligan. You’ll probably screw it up, but you’ll learn a lot. The risk in OLD is so low today, it costs almost nothing to try. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/25 11:45 PM

I'm out and about, expanding my sphere of influence, and the ladies I've been meeting... tattoos everywhere, filler, botox, injections, face lifts, augmentations, overweight, etc. What's happened to America? Where can you meet unmodified ladies these days?Awesome | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/07/25 09:16 PM
Do yourself a favor, go on a solo trip.I travelled solo even when I was married. Nothing like it. Teaches you so much about yourself. It’s not a sign of loneliness. It’s a sign of self confidence, self awareness, and self motivation. It’s the best. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/07/25 09:10 PM

X post Divorce: Dealing with lifestyle changesCan’t give advice or stories, but we’re heading to a similar situation. Decent house in a nice neighborhood we bought at the bottom of the market in 2010. 2.25% fixed rate mortgage. No way we could afford this neighborhood now, yet alone individually. We’re just staring divorce talks and this is one of the big issues hitting both of us. Add in we have 3 kids and would rather not leave the school district and we feel trapped a bit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/06/25 03:53 PM

| -2 | Body count?Personally, it makes me question how she feels about sex. If she can’t communicate something as simple as that, we won’t get along. I’d run. But I also value sexual openness and exploration. You may be different. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/05/25 02:13 AM |
I’m worried I’ll never have kids now…31 is still young. I had my last kid at 40 - it’s fun to be young again through the kids when you are older and wiser. Many on this subreddit will agree, FAR better to wait and have kids with the right person vs. earlier (or ever) with the wrong person. You got this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/05/25 01:55 PM

Doctor ordering me to consider separating?I entered a deep depression in 2023 after my marriage started becoming fractured. To the point I got ketamine infusions to help, which it did. This is also the time I got diagnosed as autistic. My therapist was convinced my depression was situational and will always be there as long as my then wife was in the picture. Shockingly direct, but yeah, he was right. I hear you though. You check all the boxes of a successful life that SHOULD make you happy. | 9 | Finding love at 40 with 4 kids?Don’t worry about the clock. I’m 50 and do better on dating apps now than I did 20 years ago. There’s a second wave of women that are getting through a divorce and what they want now is different. The playing field is much more level. Or, that is what I have observed. At the risk of being downvoted, don’t be afraid to seek casual relationships. FWB’s. Hell, go on Feeld and find someone to explore kinks with you. Enjoy it a bit. | 11 | Ex keeps asking for helpDon’t worry. Her friends will think she’s an amazing and strong woman for now taking care of a house herself. A homeowner now! | 2 | Wife’s Sister, ConnivingTotally off subject, but conniving is a great word. Don’t see it in writing much. I’m adding it to my more common vernacular. Thank you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/03/25 02:44 PM
Hard to forgiveHard to forgive? Don’t. Move on. I’m sorry you had to go through that and continue to. I understand her greed and retribution and all of that, but weaponizing YOUR kids is inexcusable. I have no advice. Just know I hear you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/02/25 11:15 PM
Equity buyoutI would never give up my retirement accounts for a house. A house is just a structure. There are thousands in your area. Investments in the stock market almost always outpace residential real estate in the long-term. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/02/25 02:28 AM
On the edgeI’m a dreamer. 😂 | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/02/25 02:00 AM
On the edgeUmmmmm….penalize the responsible and reward the irresponsible. This has to be in the USA. 😂 Generally, assets acquired during a marriage are joint. The idea is you were a team. So splitting it 50/50 is the standard starting point. If she didn’t work at all, she would still be entitled to half of marital assets. Not much difference here, unfortunately. Again, all a starting point. But a judge won’t sign off until they think it is fair and equitable. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/02/25 10:56 PM
Should I tell my ex-wife’s family the truth about why we separated?Take the high road and don’t go down to her level. Work on yourself and your own case first and foremost. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/01/25 10:55 PM

Her phoneNot sure where the two of you are, but I generally recommend behaving the way you want to be treated and take the high road. I personally would never go through someone else’s phone. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/01/25 02:09 PM
Best way to prioritize sex?Few ideas here. Discuss early and often. Make it known it is a priority. If you get resistance or she’s too embarrassed or uncomfortable to talk about it, I wouldn’t invest any more time. If sex is a priority with you, own it with confidence. Fill out the long form Sexionnaire. Will give you a good idea how sex positive she is. If she’s a conservative Christian, she may get offended a bit, so heads up. Once you have a relationship, scheduling sex is so underrated. Sure, you can live with spontan… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/25 02:41 AM
KARMA! Is it real? No. I don’t believe in karma in this case. But I do believe if she doesn’t do the hard work on herself she’ll end up cheating again since nothing changed. Possibly with a worse outcome (violent AP spouse). So I guess that’s kinda karma-ish. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/01/25 09:23 PM
First date today, another on FridayIgnore the “too soon” opinions. Do what you want. You’ve been through hell, go enjoy life the way YOU want to. You truly deserve it. Life is about experiences and choices. Sometimes you’ll get them right, sometimes you’ll get them wrong. Enjoy the process and embrace the mistakes. Your marriage was done long before the paperwork was finalized. Nothing wrong in my mind about moving this “fast.” Just be honest and upfront with your goals and expectations with your potential partners. And truly I w… | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/01/25 12:04 AM
