Not necessarily, but those with higher levels of testosterone have been shown to take more risks, man or woman. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aL1LRQuQcBf4

Yeah, I've heard about that. During high school I went from a social butterfly to a bit of a SAP (anxiety runs in the family, my friends' mothers gossip about me didn't help) and one of my greatest fears is creeping someone out. It's gotten to the point where I have trouble making eye contact with strangers because of the actions of some men like you stated.

Men fear rape, or at least they should. No rights to our own sperm, society is inclined to side with the crying, manipulative woman than the big, bad man. Since women in particular don't have as much testosterone, it's not as much of a regular danger, but if it happens it can ruin a life by forcing the victim to become indebted to the rapist. There's also men. I was reading quite a few horror stories about college kids getting raped in the dorms by their roommates...

Building, mining, ect. are not the low paying jobs that you believe them to be. It just so happens that in an economy like this a job without a consistent salary isn't as reliable.

Male violence is accepted in comedy, while female violence (unless its female-on-female) is ostracized. It's a pretty blatant double standard, and I wouldn't want to use "hanging out with my friends" (the status quo) as an example of why I shouldn't care. Just because it's something your friends find acceptable does not make it acceptable. Having the majority does not deem something right. Now, if we were talking about a generalized, made up situation (possibly even derived from a real one) invo…

This idea that learning about seduction is bad is just as stupid as slut shaming. People who don't understand or don't want to understand will continue to insult and degrade new, important topics. That's human nature, but it doesn't mean they're judging you, it's actually a little insight into how that person evaluates themselves.

Feelings? We're too busy degrading women with all the power we have to express mere emotions.

Males can't get raped unless it's by priests. Society will take a while to understand that it's possible to rape a man's entire life based on one false-accusation.

In the quest for male rights, female rights should not be trampled. You can't deny that feminism has made great leaps, but it's time for feminism to fight for men too. The bolded part does not make sense to me. Feminism was founded to fight against men, to gain rights for women. Currently, their victimization of women due to the actions of powerful men is what the main agenda of the feminist movement. It is for women and against men. Even the MRA's are looking at it the wrong way. You can't have…

Women still want wealth and status, men still want women to be attractive. It goes both ways, but the way we treat attractiveness as a negative thing to want is a little silly. Wanting someone who looks good (from our personal perspective) is a natural born desire.

I don't think it's so much that they deliberately choose to be ignorant, it's just that for centuries the female anatomy hasn't had high intellectual requirements. It's wasn't a necessity for survival like it was (and still is for men). That said, times are changing. More men these days want (sexually and emotionally) women who can rise to the challenge of overcoming their emotional tendencies, rather than be Barbie dolls. Women also want men who are conscious of their physical health and appear…

Does the media really deserve the blame when they're merely catering to the audience that gives them the most profit? It's the individuals that support these types of biases that deserve to be ashamed of themselves. The free market is simply doing what it wants to do without being regulated.

That's rich. "I urge him not to do so at the expense of men, most of which are good, decent, people." Right after this, in big fat letters: We disagree with Cel's letter, but what do you think? Who cares if you disagree without justifying your point of view with credible sources of information?

If you're a woman, the risks involved in marriage are negligible at best. You get divorced, you have a better chance of getting custody and a better chance of turning the husband into an indentured slave for many years to come, whether or not you are employed. You're probably a good person and couldn't see yourself doing such a thing, but it's more of a "in the moment" type of event. Would you turn down free money and complete custody of your kids if given the opportunity, without having to witn…

I think it's horrible. People would rather party and act careless and carefree, leaving the developed nations at a standstill where progress comes secondary to leisure. It's only a matter of time before the US's contributions become insignificant. There's nothing wrong with treating yourself to a huge party, getting trashed, and forgetting it all the next day, but that is supposed to come after you put in painstaking sweat and tears. Ask a feminist to define the two terms and I'm sure you'll get nearly the opposite answer. Knowledge and information are our weapons. Public discourse is the solution, and the only way our voices will be heard is if we constantly speak out. Mentioning FAFSA is usually a good start. From there, you can break down their argument pretty easily.
/r/MensRights12/03/11 11:36 PM
2

Obviously not, things are not black and white. Personally, I look at the history defining the two terms. Feminist? Exclusive benefits for women, at the cost of men (FAFSA, judicial inequality including but not limited to divorce, child support, sperm ownership, false rape accusations). Men's Rights Activist? To become legal equals to women, and undo the misandric qualities that have been established by Feminism. You can compare the Feminists that fought for civil rights to the time when Presiden…

At first, I completely agreed with Scott. Once I was done with that part, I had to wade through so much sexist bullshit that I turned around and never looked back. This guy draws comics. The path of least resistance is exactly what he abides by, and that works for him. However, it isn't a perspective that seems to get out a lot. During the civil rights movement, there were men who could have taken the "path of least resistance" and slowly gained their rights (yeah right). Instead, they looked at…

It's not much different than someone of African American descent blaming modern white people for segregation and slavery. Not to say it's right, but we shouldn't be surprised that there's resentment. We have to acknowledge that resentment and point it out, so it can't be manipulated into more racism.

"I'm not gay or anything..." I hate this slippery slope. If you don't say it, it leaves the verdict up to the people around you to decide, taking control out of your hands and putting your future sexual encounters at risk. If you do state that you aren't gay, then in some cases, you're "insecure," but really, you have to regain control of the situation because the issue is judged involuntarily in the first place.

When I was a kid a bunch of mom's wouldn't let their kids watch The Simpsons. Because it was "stupid" or "juvenile". The truth is that a lot of people simply weren't intelligent enough to get the jokes. To appreciate the satire of Futurama, The Colbert Report or The Onion requires a fairly extensive knowledge of science, politics, or current events. I never thought about this. Now I don't have to feel guilty for watching these shows anymore. I'm going to remember this for future reference.

More like our grandparents didn't have mobile technology and social networks to deal with, further aggravating society's expectations of us. Also, the civil rights movement. It's only been fairly recently that women have been encouraged to embrace their sexuality, and even men to a lesser extent. Before it was all hush-hush, and because of that it built up until it exploded. What you see now is the rebellion of an adolescent society going through puberty.

They can test for pot. The other situations being described don't seem to hold any grounds if there's solid proof that the SO passed a kidney stone. Is it possible that you're over exaggerating just a tad bit?

So when the media convinces the population to generalize that most men have the potential to be rapists, pedophiles, and criminals, it's not a logical fallacy? I apologize about the last part, I'm getting too many comments at once. I thought you were Factory2.

Ah, another person who goes straight to refuting Godwin's Law without objectively refuting my following statement. Oh yeah, and good job on indirectly invoking Godwin's Law while comparing a comment on the internet with an inability to stand up to Hitler. What's that? A bad person caught doing something bad is "really the victim here"? Shocking. FTFY. Arguably, women do it a lot. So do criminals when accused of a crime. That doesn't excuse the stereotyping. If we expect to be given the benefit of the doubt as men, it goes both ways.

If anything, the fact that we're struggling with this now means that we're at a crossroads. We can improve, or regress depending on our next course of action. At the end of the day it's all about individual accountability. The only way we can be a responsible civilization is if we respect ourselves enough to question the lifestyles that are imposed on us.

It's not women so much as it is the way female culture has developed in this country. Rampant materialism and focus on physical appearance perpetuated by the media has made many fall victim to selfish, self-entitled ways. It doesn't help that our education system isn't engaging enough to keep people interested. There's a lack variance of subjects to learn from at a young age, and only the bottom line is maintained. Not originally. It once had credibility, and class. Back when women were told that they couldn't leave the kitchen because politics is a "too rough" for them, it served as a motivator for change. Nowadays? Empowerment, at the cost of exploiting men as often as possible. There are moderates, but the voices of the moderates never seem to reach the top. And these little tykes are going to grow up one day and not vote or give a shit about anything except their enjoyment. There has to be balance between the pursuit of intellgence and leisure so Americans don't get bored. The entire educational system is defunct. It makes good workers out of students, but not good people. As a nation that has long held individuality as important, we should be innovating our own ways to teach kids.

Not really. It's usually people who don't think it's as big of a deal as we're making it out to be. At that point, you're not really looking for an answer. The misguided anger from some feminists seems somewhat deserved, but only if you stereotype all men into the same category. This is why I believe their anger is currently a fallacy that has crossed the line past being reasonable into being outright irrational. That's a little over the top, don't you think? First, ask yourself how our laws are set up today. Was civil rights at fault? No, everyone deserves equal rights to pursue whatever tickles their fancy. You can say that they were angry, but it's a tool used to rally people. Without anger, you have less motivation to act. While her attempt to get attention was mildly successful, we can't go on allowing things like this to happen. Woman puts out nude pics, men rejoice. Man puts out nude pics, women writhe in disgust.
