I have seen it go both ways, but the women who have a higher chance of actually respecting you and your relationship will almost always want the parameters of the relationship defined at the get go, and that does include an explicit agreement to be monogamous. I have an ex who will still contact me once or twice a year and tell me what a mistake she made by cheating on me and causing me to tell her to get the fuck out and never even think of coming back.
