You know it’s going to be a toxic shit show when they preface by saying things like how much they love them/he is a perfect partner and couldn’t imagine being with anyone else…. He only almost killed you, then dismissed, gaslit you, and you are afraid of his reaction. Totally salvageable! /s

If you grew up with parents constantly fighting, belittling each other, and generally hating each other then this is even easier to pass as “normal” relationship stuff. I read on the relationship advice sub once that a woman and her husband were going to couples therapy and he was asked why he always yelled at her and was so combative. He responded that he had never given it much thought, that’s just how it was when he was growing up.

Just FYI this book is also available as a free downloadable PDF, incase anyone cannot afford it or needs to read it in secret for safety reasons. And to echo what everyone else has said: it changed my life. Please read it.
